Do us all a favor and keep the say spam out of your macro. How would you like it if someone said the same thing next to you every ten minutes for the hours that you play? I can guarantee you it gets very annoying. Don't say anything just be afk. And as to play styles, I have no problem with the way people play the game, however, if you aren't at the keyboard you aren't really playing the game at all. But this discussion is so overdone it's ridiculous. They need to fix thischeat and fix it soon. And yes I call the fact that certain professions can be mastered while no one is actually playing the character a cheat.

The Flourish macro will keep on keeping on, even if you're not dancing. So say you stop dancing because you're tired. You keep trying to flourish. Annoying, but OK. Because when your 10 minute timer on the /startDance macro fires, you start dancing again and you're still flourishing.

I also combine this with the following macro in the F3 slot:

Macro: /advertise

/pause 420;
/say I dance for FUN. THEY dance for money. Tip THEM please.;
/ui action toolbarSlot02;

But given the opinion I'm forming of most entertainers based upon their hostility and desire to control how *I* play my game, maybe I'll just stop saying that.

We don't want to control how you play your game, we just get tired of the people who get in a group, the immediatly go AFK for several hours at a time, I don't really do this for tips either, I do this to have fun and meet people. The people who go AFK for hoursat a time are the ones that make people think that ALL entertainers are like this and the reason we have gotten such a bad rep no matter which server you are on.I don't have problem with AFK entertainers, just do it AWAY from the cantina's in their own houses.

"... desire to control how *I* play my game..."

Last time I checked, you couldn't *play* the game while not at the keys. So, since you're not at the keys, you're not actually playing, are you. Therefore, no one has a desire to control how you play your game because you are not actually playing, the computer is controlling you. You might as well be an NPC.

Thanks for the help on the macros I actually already figured it out since I wasn't getting any help her butI appreciate it none the less.

And to every dancer who is upset about thisI will stay out of your way and off your dance floor. I'm not trying to ruin your game or make it displeasureable for you. We can all play the game the way we want without stepping on each others toes as long as we respect each others rights.

Although on a side note (and I know this is just gonna make people upset) I do find it kind of weak that someone going AFK could ruin your entertainment somuch. I mean maybe you all should set up some macros so that you can go outside once in awhile, play some sports, get some fresh airor something.

Sigrun,

One other thing tghat maybe you can help me with. Right now I have the macro set up with a long pause between flourishes. Is there a way that you can combine the two macros you showed so that he dances, runs out of action, pauses and the restarts? That way I can just fire it up and walk away and get the exp that much faster without the pauses.

Thanks for your help.

Ummm, I'm playing for fun not for money, if I'm having fun then money comes automatically.

I don't see how you can have fun while you play, rather don't play since you are at work/shopping/school/sleeping, while your Healing droid is standing right in front of me stopping with full action bars to rest pissing off the medics that heal you.

And I am telling NOBODY how to play the game, I'm just saying if you want to cheat then do it where there are AND where there will be no live entertainers.

Here's my new alias, i used it a few times last night:

Teaching: /shout Teaching all entertainment and some dance / music skills for free, AFK tainers pay half the NPC price.

I just type /teaching whenever I see a entertainer. I find it a necessity, because of the number of AFK tainers on my server I sometimes cannot find a trainer, so I automatically walk outside the cantina in Mos Eisley when I can train again and someone has to compensate for that, might as well be the same people who made it so that I cannot find player trainers.

Cause and effect.

See, here's the thing. I don't do this in a cantina populated with other entertainers. I don't do this in a group.

I go to Lok. Or Rori. Or Dathomir. And I do it in cantinas there.

Why?

Because there are no "at the keys" performers in those cantinas. None. Zero. But that's where all the fighting is. That's where performers are needed the most. Bottom line: the majority of "at-the-keys"performers won't do their jobs, soAFK entertainersdo it for them.

You say you don't want to deal with AFK entertainers. You say you want better tips.

Yet you hang out in the same overpopulated cantinas on the starter worlds, competing with 20 otherentertainers for the few noob tips that come in. What the f* are you thinking?

Why not go to Dathomir? There are no entertainers there. You can be the ONLY entertainer in a cantina filled with HIGH LEVEL (read: wealthy) adventurersin desperate need ofmind & BF healing.

You want entertainer experience? You want tips? Stop your whining and go to the adventure worlds. You'll get both in spades.

Now this is just advice. I don't want SOE to put in controls that say "only 10 performers can be in a cantina at once" or anything. The game doesn't need controls on this. People need to get smarter and take control of their own lives, instead of wanting SOE to play the game for them, hand them anything on a silver platter, or make the game more difficult for everyone else. And yes, if you eliminate the possiblity of AFK Entertainer macros, it hurts everyone on the adventure worlds whose only choice IS AFK entertainers.

Hmm. I should probably add this.

Even though I'm pretty consistently spamming people to NOT tip me, they do anyway.

When I ask them why they just handed me thousands of credits when I asked them not to, their answer is uniform. They'll tip an AFK entertainer even though I'm AFK because I'm there performing a service for them when nobody else will. When nobody else will. That's not my fault. It's yours.

If one were to do some research and look back to the posts on this very forum from the June time frame they would find an extensive post detailing how to macro and how to loop the macro. However, what they would not find is a ton of flames in response to the post. Rather, they would find many replies of gratitude. Somewhere along the line someone got the idea that the afk macro's were the problem with our profession.I have to say I disagree.

I reside on the starsider server and I find that on my server, in my experience, afk macro dancers are really not a hinderance to live dancers at all. Our patrons know who is present and who is not. Some patrons prefer the silence of an afk dancer to the barbie doll emotes of a live one ( I know this because I asked) and some prefer to interact with a live entertainer. I dance for my own enjoyment andI hope to put on a good show for my friends, who more often than not, appreciate the effort I put into it.

I have never felt like an afk macro dancer was interfering with my good time and I've never had a problem being respected as a dancer. In fact, the idea that the actions or playstyle of another player could so drastically impact my game is rediculous.

Perhaps instead of trying to solve our problem by controlling the actions of others we could solve it by proactively makeing changes to our own behavior.If we are charming and entertaining and engaging the patrons inconversation theywould never even notice the afk bot (even the ones who spam in the macro's- if I'm involved in a conversation I don't even notice them).

So basically it's like this. If you want to be respected, be respectable.

That's my 2 cents.

If we've proven anything on this board, its that anyone on either side can self-justify their behavior and blame everyone else in regards to the afk situation. It really is a circular conundrum:

Perhaps entertainers don't like to go to adventure planets because they don't feel there is enoughrespect shown by people needing their service because afkers are giving it away for free.

Perhaps afkers think they're doing a public service because theentertainers aren't.

To be honest, I think the rhetoric on both extremes of this issueis faulty.

I don't afk and I ideally wouldprefer to not share cantina space with people who do. That's my personal preference. After watching a few months of message board drama here, I realized that getting upset over the issue wasn't productive. I don't feel the needto guiltan afker for the way they choose to entertain (hint: it doesn't work).

Instead, I decided it was time to get out and demonstrate to anyone who wanders into my cantina that a non-afk dancer is superior to an afk dancer.Especially with the new mindbuffmechanics, it's an easy difference to illustrate. People say that nobody dances at the keyboard on the adventure planets, but I'm out there.

Good. At least there's one.

For the record, if there's an at-the-controls entertainer present on the adventure worlds, I ask them how long they're planning on staying. If they're planning on being there a while, I move on.

I don't afk for tips. I can afk for experience in my house soI don't do it for that. I truly do it as a service to adventurers. I'd rather see those adventurers getting better service than an AFK entertainer can provide, but it's up to ALL of the entertainers to make that possible.
