Thread: Read about the upcoming CU
Honestly docs are getting it worse than us from the sounds of it. They don't craft meds and they can't stim others. In all its an almost complete removal of the healing support lines. Why don't they just fess up that they don't want them and either remove the permanent damages or put in NPC's to fix it. I can't believe many people will give up the skill points for those professions with the combat professions becoming so expensive.
If they are trying to balance combat stacking simply don't allow a person to take a second or third elite combat tree, how hard is it for this team to think beyond one thing at a time.

We will make adjustments to entertainers by creating some long lasting, minor buffs for combat professions.
PvP Rule #1
Any advantage is a necessity.
As long as our interdependency is interfacing with the combat professions there will be bots and we will be considered a secondary source for something they hate to deal with but can't live without. And I don't blame the players forthis either.

Well, if you are, we've gotten into the same stuff.
I think this has been the goal with the CU in all of its various versions. I know a ton of time and thought has gone into this new design and that I'm really excited about overall.
For the Ent stuff in particular, I am cautiously optimistic like I've been saying. I really want to get my hands on these changes and see how they really work in play. I've read about the new design till my eyes are about to pop, but, I was excited when I read the first CU docs way back last summer and I'm excited about this latest one too.
I'm really glad they gave a nod to explaining the Ent situation and I'm hopeful even more info will be coming for us soon.

It better be a lot of info because what I hear is the documents from last summer are worthless and our whole entire role will be healing BF on the rare occassion someone needs it. So basically we are useless because with a decrease in need one single bot can serve the entire galaxy. Sheesh I'm glad you are so happy to have us nerfed so hard Panthu but I don't see one good thing about the almost complete removal of the entire healing professions. I can stim myself without spending any skillpoints? I can get my stims from BE-crafters? I MIGHT need BF and wound healing once a week? Just where in all that is there something exciting for entertainers?
You used to be a bit more critical of SOE Panthu, what's changed recently?

I will keep my dancer even if she is needed by no one - because she is graceful and beautiful and it is fun.

As it stands CU will go live and for several weeks afterwards - we will be worthless until they figure out what entertainers do in the game.
I believe it would be more like several MONTHS(if not longer). As we are most certainly not going to be in the first groups of non-combat professions to get revamped.
So let's look at this.
We heal BF and only BF. Since changes to our profession are outside the scope of the CU our SP costs will remain the same as well as we will keep our useless boxes.
Not useful to combat prep= Bots going away.
Still useful to AFK jedi grinders= Where all our BF xp is going to go.
Fixes and new songs/dance additions= replacement for our interdependancy in the game.
In the end that then leaves us in the Devs eyes as not "needing" a fix for AFK and bots. And they can then take their time in removing AFK from combat. While still leaving it mostly intact for everything else.
It also leaves us as a 99% fluff class. Which as everyone loves to point out works nearly perfectly when compared to many other professions.
This leaves us/puts us at the very bottom of any inclusion, or additions. And they can now do it with out getting backlash as we are just Fluff. And being just fluff why should be part of anything other then more Fluff. Which is much more badly needed by all the other professions in the game. So they will get the inclusion, additions and fluff as we will no longer need any of it.
btw sell any Mind Enhancment clothing now while you can still get money for it(just made one of our best quest items usless) and buy BF healing tapes before their prices shoot through the roof.

This is the other problem. The history of Ent changes (or lack thereof) is such that we can expect many, many months of being useless, with boxes that do nothing (mind wound heal II, etc) and skills that don't matter and no real purpose in the game. By that point there may be so few of us they might just say "screw it" and take entertainment out of the game. Why fix a profession only a handful of players even play?

I was clued into the whole "Ents aren't Healers" plan a long time ago when I was a corr... and I ran right back here and shared that.
If "Ents aren't healers" then why the hell does a master dancer have to spend 42 skill points and waste 12 boxes (betwen Entertainer and Dance) on entertainer healing skills? I'm sorry but that is functionally the equivalent of saying that smugglers were never meant to slice things. They have an entire 4-box discipline called slicing... what's it there for if they aren't supposed to slice? Same thing with dancing... we have 8 skill boxes in dance called "__________ healing", and we have to obtain over 500,000 HEALING XP to master our profession. If "Ents aren't supposed to be healers" how about they drop those 12 skill boxes and give me the damn skill points back, and stop making me have to get healing XP to master?
I'm completely down with "Ents aren't healers." That's fine. If you strip out the 8 boxes from music and dance, you could merge the two into one elite prof ("Performer", say) and I'd be able to play every song, every instrument, and do every dance in the game, and still have SPs left over to do other things (oh yeah and I'd save another 14 from the now-not-needed healing line in Entertainer, presumably). They're welcome to go ahead and change the vision so that entertainers are pure eye/ear candy, but then don't make me pay all these skill points for it, and don't make me get HEALING XP and buy HEALING SKILL BOXES when I am "not a healer."
For that matter, aren't 4 of our boxes useless now anyway? We can't heal mind wounds any more so, um... what exactly do things like "Mind Wound Healing III" do under CURB? Just sit there being a useless box to force me to get more XP to master?
Personally, I think they should make Entertainer, Musician, and Dancer 0 SPs like Mayor, take all forms of ent healing out of the game, and let us just be entertainers for fun. I'd be totally down with that.
What I am NOT down with is that I have to get 600,000 or so XP worth of HEAL XP and dedicate 42 skill points and 12 boxes to ENTERTAINER HEALING skiklls, and then the devs (no offense to Panthu who is just communicating "the vision")turn around and tell me "Oh you aren't supposed to be a healer."
Next they will tell rifelman "Oh you have rifle skills but you are supposed to be using swords in combat."
