Thread: New stuff for us!
And they wonder why there is such a horrifyingly bad relationship between the devs and the player base?
Why would people go into cantinas now, Eshie? I've never seen unwounded people come in for just an inspiration buff. The inspiration buff is a nice bonus they get for getting the required healing. Sure, sure, a tiny handful of people who like entertainers will go in just to watch a performance, but their number is vanishingly small. The player base needs a good reason to go to a cantina.
I understand, "Entertainer is a social class," but what THEY don't understand is, we need people to come in and be social with. What's the point of being social to an empty room? I mean we can be social with each other, but at that point, where the only people to socialize with is other entertainers, you're basically setting it up so that it's like a private little club. I don't know about the rest of you but I didn't become an entertainer to socialize JUST with other entertainers. I became one to be a part of the game world in a way that no other prof in any other game can do. And that's pretty effectively being yanked.
I don't want them to shelve it. But what I do want (which they NEVER do, and why will they never learn?) is for them to FINISH IT before it goes in. Send it to publish 21 and put the inspiration buff improvements in, rather than rushing it into 20 and then, as we all know will happen, it's next January before they add more content because they'll say, "you just GOT a huge publish" from now until then.

This is the whole problem with their logic. "Either you accept a half-assed version of a revamp, or you get nothing at all. In fact if you dare complain that the revamp is half-assed and incomplete, we will punish you by shelving your stuff indefinitely." In other words, love it or leave it.

Nah..last time it was more like "Wow. Sorry guys..it has become obvious that what you want is not what we thoughtwould be good for the game. We're pulling back to regroup."
So dancers will be able to duel wield their props? So one dancer offends another dancer, and they grab a sword and have an old fashioned duel??? SWEET! ![]()
(not even the devs can spell that one correctly, huh?)
Sure..we need players to want to come to us for us to have an audience. But what we don't need are prisoners. I've gotten really positive feedback from other players on Inspirations. In fact, due to the whining of a couple of friends, I've dropped a line of scout and taken back novice ent on a character that I respec'd to all combat a couple of weeks ago so they can get them from me.
The devsare not removing BF so that they can put other stuff in our boxes. Norare they removing it just to spite us. They are removing it because doing so works for the overall picture that they see. They are working on additional Inspirations. The most pro-active thing we can do for our profession at this time would be to provide them with feedback regarding what benefits our future Inspirations can provide.

Ya but after EVERY sentence?
but guys don't COMPLETELY bash yourselves. The only thing SWG really has going for it right now is its social aspects.. building cities, talking with people, goofing around. Its more of a graphical chat room then an MMO. If people really wanted all combat they would go play guildwars.

I think it's a shame the Devs would shelve any professions and leave them "as is" just because people have issues with what the Devs were proposing. Seems a bit petty when people are paying real money to play a game, to totally shelve work on the professions just because the players are giving negative feedback to it.
Show me one profession that doesn't have negative player feedback...seriously.
And allowing the Ent profs to stagnate just perpetuates the frustration and desire to see positive and fun changes any day now, since I personally have been waiting over a year and a half. This just builds on people's expectations, which will rise to such heights that it's hard to not let them down.
Just sayin', is all...very disappointing to have dissenting voices "discouraged" in such a manner, as to suggest they will cause the shelving of necessary profession development and reworking. I don't think that's necessary. Unless it's absolutely something every single Entertainer is against, and even then - the Devs call the shots. We don't run the game, they do.
I just saw your post as coming across as, "Don't complain, or we'll get nothing again." I don't think that's cool.
Warryyr,
I think entertainer as a whole is tricky. Do not get me wrong, I have my own entertainer that I love playing. I have a lot of entertainer friends. Now with that being said, it IS not a profession that draws the majority of players to this game. The developers realize this, and they act accordingly.
There will never be equal attention paid to all professions sadly. The problems they seem to face...are all problems with respect to balance issues. Anytime a skill, or ability, or even profession...start gravitating towards the "gamebreaking" waters, then the attention is front and center, and changes are made.
However, histroy will show, when a skill...ability...or even profession, is higly underpowered, especially one that really is not vastly popular, the attention given is not even close to that of the other more popular professions.
As for the negative feedback, I am not sure. That is tough to be honest to comment on. I truely think that in entertainer, feedback is vital. Other professions offer feedback of course, however there is a huge variance between realistic, and unrealistic expectations. I think that because of the Nature of entertainer, that public opinion, and desires should really be read over indepth, as, for all intents and purposes, entertainer IS not overpowered, nor will it probably ever be, which makes player feedback probably more realistic to be implemented compared to others.
