You guys do realize that this will now pull even more people into the cantina right?

Even if we can't control who gains the benefit, these imspiration buffs are incredible. I couldn't have dreamed that they'd actually do this!

Yeah, it will make us so important that many many people will make room in thier template for 15 skill points so they can pick up novice entertainer and buff thier friends just as good as wecan (while thier friends buff them, as I'm sure we won't be able to self buff, if we CAN self buff than it's even worse than I thought). Novice entertainer is just as good as master, just takes a little longer? I forsee a lot of buff bots becoming merchant alts now too!

Seeing as this would be the only real reason that buffbots would still be in existance, I don't see why it would be so bad just to add a UI box for these buffs. Buffbots would either need to play their character, or find something else to do. Quite honestly, I would rather them join the community, but I find the highly unlikely.

I actually found one thing very contradictory about how the whole announcement was written. Several times the dev said "buffs will be applied just as before" even though he also said "no action needed from either party"

so is there a /setperf or not? He contradicted himself. Has anyone gone onto TC5 and tested the bejeezus out of this new "content" *rollseyes* yet?

Want to know what the problems here are?

To get a max buff you need 15 skill points invested.

To get a buff all you have to do is target a skill animating entertainer and /watch or /listen.

Instead of giving us anything of value to us, they gave all of the value to everyone else with no control being left for us.

So now all a crafter or combat player needs is an alt with 15 skill points invested to make us worthless OR they can come by the cantina where we are trying to play and simply /wacth or /listen to one of us and run out without so much as giving us a credit.

AFK will not be affected at all and AFK will still have all of the advantages (convience). This is NOT going to make US important, just the value that can be TAKEN from us.

So what?

The better a Dancer is the faster they will give the maximum time on the buff. Period. It doesn't matter that many buffbots have +25 skill tapes. So do many ATK Dancers.

And don't even think of going there. I'm not a buffbot and I have a +25 skilltape. I have it because I am dedicated to being the best. period.

And as for the AFK 'problem', as Panthu said, from the mouths of the DEVs, it's not a problem. It is intended, so get over it. I have to, so do you, so does everyone. The only DEVs that wanted to get rid of the AFKers also wanted to get rid of us, so I think we'd better walk a very fine line and just get off that kick.

Yes I believe it could be handled better. I would add the ability to choose to apply the insp buff just like we apply current mind buffs, but if it's going to change for the better, we need to band together put together a proposal and above all be polite.

I am sorry if this post has come off as hostile in any way, I didn't intend that in the slightest. I am trying to be dispassionate and to the point.

I'm at work and it's a Monday so I am unable to prepare a response at this time. Please keep the feedback coming and don't forget to post on the focus thread that Tiggs started on In Concept!

Would you like me to put together a proposal Esharra?

Perhaps we could all get together somewhere (either in game or using a messaging service) that we could discuss our concerns and put together a decent proposal for the devs.

I love the buffs but the execution is horrible. Now one single novice entertainer buff bot can serve an entire galaxy. Yeah it will bring more people into the cantina, so what if it brings no benefit to people PLAYING entertainer. I don't want a ton of novice ent buffbots I want a profession that is viable and useful. That doesn't mean my mechanics are useful all by themselves.

I don't understand it, every other single profession requires the players have some interaction with each other. They either have to ask for the mechanic or visit a vendor. Why is it so important that we be a "seamless experience"?

I guess its time to find a new game.

What I would like is for you to realize that whether the devs recognize it or not, AFK play IS A PROBLEM. You might choose to ignore it, but it is there and it is not going away anytime soon. This is NOT a good change for us. This essentially turns us all into buffbots.

I hate this change. I now have ZERO control over buffing. I am trying so so so hard not to jump to conclusions or make assumptions, so I will only say this:

IF, this goes live as it is written, and our buffs can be given by novice entertainers just as easily as masters, and

IF, /setperform or grouping is no longer necessary, and anyone can gain a free buff just by /watching me,

THEN, I will be dropping dancer because I can find far better uses for those skill points.

You screwed up, devs. Again. Why don't you just bloody remove us from the frigging game instead of trying to pretend you know what we want/need. You screw us every single time and I'm sick of it.

I just realized something about this, any crafter could now get a 2nd account, invest the time and $$ into a musician/dancer combo and keep this bot in his/her house just for this very purpose, oooh the horror of having more bots around.

Folks, we need to try to not jump the gun on some of these issues we're having. I'd rather not see anyone threatening to quit until we see it on TC-5 and also see if we can't make changes to the proposed design document.

Naw, they only need 15 skill points for a full buff.
