I think it will be more fun though if we can use real quotes from old posts and give people credit. We do all love the spotlight after all, hehe.

Hmm, no one else has quoted another Dancer's post. Oh well, lol... guess we'll have a plain old boring FAQ like everybody else.

The ideas are still good though! Keep posting!

4. How do you loop a macro?

The easiest way to loop a macro does NOT require the hot keys or /ui action toolbarSlotxx command. Make the last line of your macro /macro (macroname) - whatever the name of youe macro is. For instance:

Make a macro named "Exotic3"

/startdance exotic3;

/pause 1;

/flo 1;

/pause 11;

/flo 3;

/pause 7;

/macro exotic3

To start the macro, you can either place it on the toolbar, or simply type /macro exotic3. This macro will automatically loop endlessly until you issue the /dump command.

I still think this is a great idea for the FAQ, but I'm having difficulty remembering where I saw so many of the great posts on various topics. I never did copy/paste the good ones into a resource document... although now I think it would've been useful.

Ooh, except if we had an FAQ entry about "So, how do I get started dancing?", I'd suggest compiling Sultrina's Dance School into one extended piece. There's an all-time great post on the subject, if you ask me.

That thread's not stickied anymore, I noticed. Too bad... I've been sending all the beginning dancers that I meet who seem to really care about their dancing to read it. Such a great way for them to start out.

That guide has a permanent home in our Useful Links sticky. Everyone who is new or looking for Dancing Lessons (instead of macros ) should be checking out a Useful Links sticky.

We just needed more room in the sticky area for rotating issues and updates.

On the not being able to find quotes.... I didn't even think about that. I can usually remember enough about who/what/where something was said to be able to track it down again with a search. That probably comes more from my past experience being a board Mod and less to do with being a Dancer though, hehe. *blush* Thank you for pointing that out! I'm glad to know it wasn't a bad idea, just not as easy as I made it sound.

Put Sultrina back on sticky. It is the best, most informative series I have seen on the technical aspects of what we do.

It's not just "not a bad idea"... I think it's really agreat idea! Why should we, the ones who go out of our way to entertain, be fun, and brighten other players' gaming experiences, have a boring, dry old FAQ?

I'd rather see it read out as a collection ofquotes/snippets of wisdomwith the great dancers of SWG... not just a format of Q: blah blah... A: blah blah... Have it written from the perspective of anresearcher who wasseeking the collective wisdom of the masters. Make it a fun read as well as informative. Give chapter headings that group like-concepts together, and sub-headings to further refine the organization of topics so that specific information can still be found quickly. For those who really don't care about the "storyline" presented, color code or clicky-link from a chapter listjust the informational segments - the Q&A entries, as it were - so you can quicklyfind just the info if you so wish.

My comment about not really remembering where to find certain great posts should not be taken as defeat for the concept, but more perhaps asan explanation as to why more quoted responses weren't being added to this thread. Perhaps those who can find them should do so. Alternately, we as a community could create our list of frequent questions, and then begin the hunt for those answer gems. Or those who are interested in contributing can write new responses in a fresh thread, and the community can then vote on which they think are the clearest, most definitive answer. So often when someone has a great response to a question, the voting is done informally... the post is followed by several agreeing, "couldn't have said it better" responses and such.

Why, oh why does the preview post function lie about the way formatting will look sometimes...

Let's try this againin a slightly more reader-friendly format:

Oh that's good! If we don't get anymore quotes here, I can pull my own and then we can poll them. I'll wait a bit and see what you guys do.

Sirii - One of the first things I was told to do as a Corre was clean up our Sticky area. We have to have a spot for our Issues, Issue Associated Lists, FAQs, Future Pub Items, New Guides, Big Events, and after all of that, it just makes sense that some of our older guides and important threads will need to be moved to one big easy to find Link sticky.

I'd also like to see us have more guides following in the footsteps of Sultrina's Dance School. There is no need to reteach the methods she describes in her lessons, so maybe future guides could use hers as a reference. I would love to see someone reference something as Sultrina's Method or Sirii's Method (or Deila's or Lei's and so on).

In real life, Dancers extend on the teachings of the greats with their own new Techniques and Schools. I would like it if we could have this too. It could really help strengthen our community and would give us all a creative release as well.

The fact is that the elitists that make up the majority who fequent here do not like to answer the real frequently asked questions...

1) How do I make an unattended macro?

2) How do I master the skill the fastest?

3) How do I complete a buff the fastest?

4) How do I increase the effectiveness of buffs?

5) How do I creat a macro to buff people unattended?

I don't think that should be the correspondent's call. I know what questions are asked the most (I make a lot of lists, heh)... and I know what my answers are. The AFK one is tricky for a FAQ, you don't want to teach people to do it then have them be snubbed by the people they were hoping to make friends with.

I'm a pretty neutral Dancer myself, I just try not to do anything I think will upset others in game. I hope our FAQ can answer everyone's questions... and I'll make sure we do a short version or easy quick link for the Speedsters no matter how flashy we get with it.

But there is a forum set up for power-gamers and "roll-players" that wish tostep on every other profession on there way to l33t ub3rness. Please look under Professions/Jedi.

Thank you and go way little boy.
