My own theory on that Choreography teacher is that whe will give you Theatrical2 which is just the alternate base dance that already exists but cannot be 'danced'. Just a guess. Trouble is I can't find her script to work out what she says after telling you to practise theatrical some more. It's a bit of a crappy prize seeing as the base dance doesn't come out right anyway, but as the alternate base dance is not yet avaiable I figured it was a reasonable guess.
As an aside, Theatrical and Western have existed as available assets since publish 10, but were only 'unlocked' right before publish 11. So anything new in the publish 11 tre files does not mean we will get it soon.

That is correct. I had the same guess and it was confirmed by a dev. The choreography teacher is there to teach the 2 versions of new dances. Not just theatrical, but any other new dance that is added in the future as well. To be able to learn it, you have to do quite literally what it says - practice the dance. It's not linked directly to total dancing xp, instead it's linked specifically to how much you perform the lower level version of the dance. When you've done it enough, you'll get a pop-up telling you that you are proficient with the dance, and that you should seek out someone to teach you advanced moves.
No, I don't know exactly how much you need to practice theatrical before you are considered proficient. It's certainly more than a little - I spent a lot of time yesterday dancing theatrical getting the timings and never got any pop-up. I would have done a double-take if I did, as I didn't have the answer then.
Yeah it's wierd I know. Popular also has 10 animations assigned to it. You'll only get 8 of them, probably the first 8, in game though.

Well there are several ways to get videos like that. Some more drastic than others. To do it the elegant way doesn't actually require much in the way of hacking, if you can call it hacking at all.Plus there is a lot of video editing to do before the dance is actually a dance. But I digress.
As for why they are not in the game yet, as I said Theatrical was "in game" as soon as publish 10 was pushed, but they were not unlocked until a few days before the fact they were down appear in the patch notes. Perhaps these dances are waiting on something else to be completed first, for JTL bugs to be filtered out, or just because. Or perhaps they are already available, but not announced so people canstumble upon them by accident. My question originally was, can we get them yet and if so how, as the necessary animationsdo already exist?
IMO this is something to look forward to at least. This is a great addition to the entertainment professions and I'm pleased they as a dancer I will be getting some lovin' at some point.
