Bulbous I am not sure how familiar you are with the dancing profession, but the exotic dances are the highest level dances, therefore that's what I use. When mind buffing, I use exotic 4 exclusively as it is the highest dance and seems to give the best buff. It also heals the fastest.

Why wouldwe as dancers not use what servesus best?

I would turn this around and ask you how familiar you are with the dancing profession? The last dance you learn is called "Lyrical2". This is listed *after* Exotic3 and Exotic4. I don't have any data as to whether it heals or buffs faster than the other listed do, because frankly, I don't care. It looks trashy, especially picking your clothing out of your crotch. As to why you don't always dance "what serves you best", there are many reasons. One would be role-playing. Even I don't always dance Lyrical2. I usually dance Popular2. Lyrical2 doesn't work too well in confined spaces. Just because it may work better in some instances doesn't mean one should always perform that dance.

Thank you. It's also bugged and people see us stumbling around like bumbling idiots. Guess you didn't know.

Trash to you is beauty to others. Personally I find popular, footloose and poplock to be the trashy dances.

Reachwind, I mean trashy in the "disreputable" connotation of the word, not the "worthless" connotation. While the other dances you mentioned may not be artistically pleasing to you (although many dancers loves them), they're not going to be written off as "skanky" (if that word is less likely to confuse you).

Exotic3 is, in my opinion, more of a sort of sword dance and with that in mind is actually one of my favorites. Watch a male do exotic3 with a curved sword in his hand and you'll see what I mean. Especially flourish 1 and 3.

The only one I'd really consider "exotic" in the sense implied in this thread is exotic4.

Part of the problem is that exotic is fully 25% of the dances we have available. Get more variety in there and I bet you'll see a majority of the people choosing that variety.

As for the issue presented by the original poster, ironically this problem demonstrates the incredible job done by the SWG art team. Character models are so accurately crafted that they can actually look attractive! What other game has ever been able to accomplish that?

As a result, it probably stirs hormonal responses which gets people into the right moods for the kind of behavior we're seeing. Whether it's good or bad, I will reserve my opinion for now. I'm just presenting a possible reason for it. But I will say that I've had problems with harrassment from females who forget that this is a video game when I dance with my avatar's shirt off, for example. And so I'm staying low-key.

Bulbous2 I fully understood your definition the first time. What I said still holds true.

In a game where you can openly abuse drugs, kill people and wage a civil war, I don't think nudity in a scale you can see on any public beach is something to worry about. I don't think 13yo kids should be exposed to a game like this. Not because of the game itself, but because of all the adults that will bring adult themes as long as there is a free chat. Sexually and otherwise. Rate the game 16 and there are no problems.

That said, I still think going as nude as possible and dance exotic in a public place is bad style and bad roleplay if your bio does not state prices per hour or night. If someone dresses and acts like a hooker, then s/he is treated like one.

Americans would probably die of shame watching 30 minutes of German TV in the afternoon anyway... you can see completely nude women advertising shower gel, butter, solar power, anything that you can buy here. Name a product and I'll show you an ad with a naked girl. Thats bad style, too. I wont buy a product just because someone waves a nude picture at me. I'm a man, but hey... even we have a tiny bit of brain left.

I am "guilty" of these things and am treated with nothing but respect.I tend to believe it's how you carry yourself. I don't make innuendos, I don't talk dirty in tells. My dance is an art, and I am an artist. I am treated as one, regardless of my dress or dance. What kind of people you guys have on you're servers, anyways?

Actually, the stumbling, bumbling idiots thing is a constant reguardless of how big or small the area your dancing is with this dance. Its tied to the base part of the dance with no flourishes which is bugged. If you weren't already aware of this then I guess I'll be the first to tell you that what you see on your screen is different then those watching you when your doing the non flourish animation. To other people all your doing is gliding and stumbling around, its really embarrasing. If you want to use Lyrical or Formal dances just make sure you flourish non stop, anytime your not flourishing you look like a drunk on roller skates.

Something else I think is bad... is that this discussion is being held only in the Dancer forum, as if the sexualization of the game were primarily a Dancer issue. But I think it's seen that way to a large degree, even though I doubt significantly more dancers are engaging in'adult themed activities' than any other segment of the population.

Hmm now that I think of it... it's starting to seem not unlike some real life entertainers. Whether or not she actually is "that innocent" for example... pretty much everyone believes Britney Spears is a whore

Ah, I see. Perhaps I just thought that it worked better in larger spaces because that's where I usually perform it, and get compliments on the quality of the dance. But then again, my standard rate of flourishing is once every 15 seconds. If we consider that the Lyrical2 dance flourishes last (if I recall correctly) 12 seconds... then it isn't likely that my character is seen to be stumbling around. It certainly has not been reported to me as such by my guildmates.

In any case, I never suggested that dancing Exotic brings with it automatic harassment; nor am I suggesting that "Classy" dancing will automatically insulate you from such. However, it certainly increases your odds to a great degree. And Takeelah, having a character that can paint the walls with the brains of your detractors helps immensely, as well!

Hi,

The other day, I had a character walk up to me and said, "Marry me."

What am I supposed to answer to that?

This was so distasteful, it was funny. I think you, Sony Pack, should increase the rating. I don't mind councelling a little, but I don't want to be baby-sitting.
