Hi everyone!

In my bio I have it stated twice that my character is married, and from my own experience I have discovered that my character has gained more respect from the viewers when dancing since I did this.

Also, she dresses (what is in my personal opinion) conservatively (e.g. no hotpants or boogying in my undies!!) while still catching the eye, which generates a lot of compliments and tipsrather than sexual comments, and this I am very happy with. That is not to say that dancers who enjoy flourishing in their best whites don't do well for themselves, because they do (and plenty of my friends have been known to flash their knickers at the audience!) ,and as I will say in the next paragraph, more than the way a dancer dresses, I feel the receptiveness of the dancer to sexual comments is far more relevant.

Lastly, I think, in my own personal opinion, that the dancer's receptiveness to sexual comments plays a big part in the continuation of sexual comments. When dancing, I will respond with a small gesture such as a smile to sexual comments, and I find that this does not encourage their continuation. I am telling the viewers, without literally saying it, that I'm not up for it, without being rude or indicating that I may have taken offense.

Trust me, it works!

Anyway, this is my first post on the SWG forums and I just wanted to offer a tip or two to my fellow dancers

Happy flourishing! =D

Anyone who harasses a dancer should have their account banned.

lol - awesome - brought to you by the same folks who coined "well she wouldn't have been raped if she wasn't wearing that short skirt."

As far as I know, treating someone by his or her dresscode is not a crime. If someone is dressed like a policeman and acts like one, I will treat him like a policeman. People dressing and acting like hookers are treated like hookers. If for you that means criminal actions like rape, then probably we define "treating like a hooker" a bit different. I treat people by what I know of them. I think anyone does, correct me if I'm wrong.

oh no no, there is no need to correct you, i was implying you are ignorant, not that 'treating someone like a hooker' (whatever the hell that means) is a crime.

i'm sorry, i should probably elaborate for you.

you see, "the folks that coined" does not mean "the folks that raped." the people who say "she probably deserved it" are not (usually) the same people who actually do the raping. they are the ignorant people commenting on it, much like how you are commenting that people who "dress like hookers" (which is assinine) deserve to be treated like them.

one persons idea of something that is asthetically pleasing in the game does not warrant having to hear your repressed views on it. now, if "treating someone like a hooker" means shutting the hell up and not saying anything at all, and remembering all the outfits in the game were included for a purpose, and that purpose is decidedly not prostitution, well then it's me that needs correcting. however since you decided to come on here and babble i assume you have no problem letting people in the game know your trite opinions either.

clear enough for you now?

"The game is rated Teen which means bascially (for Americans) content that is PG-13."

After watching 'teen' sensations Brittany Spears and Christina Auuuuuglair for the past few years, I have to wonder if this is a bit, uh, 'hippycritical'.

Actually, just go to the mall and see how the 'teens' act and dress. This aint the 1980's....

I still fail to see how my judgement of their actions is wrong. I have to ask myself if I want to group or train or talk to people who dress and act like hookers. And I don't. I don't use their services, I don't train them, I don't tip them. That is my choice.
I do know that real hookers are probably nice people to hang out with ( don't know any ) and that in real life, some persons don't have the choice how to make money. However, in this game, everyone can live his dream and through normal work open to anyone, everyone can make a comfortable living. If their dream is to hang out in shady bars in their underwear, kissing the first male individual they see, no matter if it has fur, scales, horns or lack thereof inappropriate for their own species, they are free to live it out to their fullest. I am free to treat them without any respect or helpfulness, because I don't share their view of fun which in my oppinion is immature and degrading and hurting PG13 more than any flesh colored skinsuit.

Please note that I know an in-game prostitute. She is roleplaying, she is dressing nice, she is taking money for the night, she is behaving like a prostitute. That does not include licking people in public, kissing strangers on the mouth or running around nude in public. I wouldn't want to play her role, but she plays it with style and class and I respect that. I would train or help her any day.

Probably I failed to clarify what I meant by "act like a hooker". I mean immature behaviour that no one would display in the real world, not even the shabbiest hooker.

however since you decided to come on here and babble i assume you have no problem letting people in the game know your trite opinions either.

If they ask why I don't help them or train them or tip them because I'm not using their services, then I will tell them. If they don't ask, I won't talk to them. There are many people in the game, and I won't associate with those that are 13 and need attention. I have been 13 myself and maybe would have done the same, but that doesn't mean I have to put up with that today.

I don't justify criminal behaviour, I just describe which people I like, and which people I definetly don't like. But the error in the "short skirt/rape" comparison is not the "treat someone like he acts" part, but the part that says "wearing a skirt is a sign to get raped". If she was naked and wearing a "please rape me" sign around her neck in public, well, that would be one interesting case...

This post and the one following it were probably the least well thought out posts I have read to date. You seem to have no grasp of reality. The fact is that what you wear and how you act influence how you are treated. If you dress in a sexual manner, then you can expect to be treated in a sexual manner. If you dress cheaply, you can expect to be treated cheaply. If you don't want to deal with that kind of behaviour, then don't dress/act in such a manner as to foster it.

LOL

All I gotta say is if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and acts like a duck... by all means... throw bread crumbs or duck food at it.

Follow that logic for people in the game:

Looks classy, acts class... then is classy. Smile and be on your way.

Wears nothing, emotes licks constantly, acts like a $2 hooker in the middle of Detroit... well... treat him or her as such.

People get what they deserve ultimately. Sad, but true.
