While we're on the subject of typos... the instrument's name is mandoviol. I see soooo many misspellings of this instrument I love so much. It makes me a sad panda

I wonder if some people might be underestimating the interdependancy we'll have healing battle fatigue. As a non-master I've never been asked for a buff, but as a BF healer I will get an audience of 6-8 people in a three-hour play session in an out-of-the-way hole like Nym's. A night in the Lucky Despot will usually draw at least twice that many, usually pilots with high BF, and I typically make 10-20,000 in tips. Not much, but enough to keep my little cottage outside Bela Vistal from falling down in disrepair.
Admittedly, I'm performing on Bria, one of the most populous servers. It might be another matter on, say, Sunrunner. Then again, if there are no bots to compete with, it might not be.
My biggest concern is that the devs will think (wrongly) that this will take care of the AFK problem. There will still be FS grinders and people grinding to master AFK plaguing us directly, and I fear a new generation of BF-healing bots taking the place of the buffbots, if only out of sheer habit on the part of the buffbot owners. Then there are the AFK spammers, both of the cantina "tips and heals plz" variety and the starport advertizers, the AFK spawn-campers, and tumblers. AFK will still as big and as game-breaking an issue as ever after May 5, as far as I'm concerned. A big and game-breaking issue for the entire galaxy, not just entertainers. Shame on those (who shall not be named) who said they don't care about other AFKing as long as the buffbots go. That's no less hypocritical than the leetkiddies who defend buffbots while complaining about AFK spawn-camping.
I will also be sorry to see the armour certifications go live as written, but I recognize that armour needs to be brought to heel. I hope some compromise can be reached on that score. Alternatively, maybe the devs could placate us -- and make tailors happy at the same time -- by giving us new clothes to replace the armour.
But altogether I don't see the CU as being that bad for us, and I'm very surprised that the response has been so negative. I certainly don't think they are "out to get us" or trying to make the profession so unpleasant we all quit. Occasionally clueless, yes, but with malice aforethought, certainly not. I was very heartened to see that when their traveling dance fix screwed up sync dancing, the devs -- within a couple of days -- devoted time and effort into repairing the damage. If they really wanted us gone, they could have cheerfully pushed that live like so many of us expected them to. After all, who would they have to answer to if they did?

The bottom line was easy for me, I actually had to have my hubby come over and read the leet for me though.

Further, I also said that was in an out-of-the-way place like Nym's. And what I didn't add was that it's usually the middle of the night, since I have a 2nd shift job.

Unless theyare planning to remove even the last of our mechanics and interdependencies, such that the dances and effects will be all we have left. Especially with their repeated insistences that we are *not* healers...
I know for many of us, this isn't necessarily a bad thing - for some, the removal of mind buffing will even be a boon, making pure performance more worthwhile and visible. Healing and combat support are secondary considerations to the art of dance.
But there are also quite a few dancers - I know Drygo is in this camp, as well as myself - who cherish the ability to provide support services, andenjoydoingso through an artistic and social medium. For us, any removal of our game mechanics without a comparable means of interdependency replacing it is a blow to our enjoyment of the profession. And I think the split between these dance philosophies is reflected in the varied responses to the CU announcement.
Doctorsare havingthe same dilemma. Since the devswill be moving med crafting from the doctor trees to BE, those who primarily enjoy healing feel that there will be new opportunities for group play, while doctors who prefer to mix crafting *and* healing are understandably upset that a large portion of their gameplay is being taken away.
In the meantime, let's just agree to respect one another's viewpoints, and wait for additional information to be released. <Tarkin voice> This bickering is pointless.
