Id never do a top 5 or 10 or whateverfor mainly this reason:

a. An established char tips me 100000 creds and thats hugely appreciated by me but NOTa huge amount to him.....

b. A new player tips me 100 creds and thats hugely appreciated by me and it IS a huge amount to him......

Why would i wanna make player b feel bad or inadequate?

Both appreciated me equally, just one had more to spend!

Answer = I would never want to

Actually, don't new characters start with 75K now? If you're only tipping 100 creds, you're a tightwad! Open those pockets!

Actually no, a "new"new player starts with 1k. Only us vets making new alts start with 75k, itsourchristmas gift we all received in 03.

Very well said, Sian. I say my thank you's in tells when I've been tipped. It is more personal and keeps it a private transaction, which many would prefer (and a tell is less likely to get lost in the sea of spam). To me, asking for a tip is just in poor taste. The whole highest tipper in the bio thing is awful..and omg..they are bragging that they get such small tips?! And yes..if it spams it goes on my ignore list. My game time isn't long enough to spend it being miserable.

I think I've been mis-understood.... I don't give shout outs to people for how much they tip. I just remember and acknowledge tippers more often than those who don't. A top 5 tipper list is tacky.

I'd like to add "Turn off the frelling special effects already!" to that list. I have 2 AFKers that regularly park themselves in the center of the floor and thenconstantly give off blasts of light that don't go with anything they are doing. I'd crawl from Bestine to Jabbas if they'd add "special effects" to the things that get ignored when you put someone on your ignore list. By the way, I'm now starting to see emotes through the AFK filter again. I'm starting to get increasingly paranoid that there's a dev or a CSR sitting off to the side of the cantina laughing at me.

Oh, pfft, I do too. /hi5

I thought you were saying you did keep a top list in your bio. Sorry if I helped with the mix up.

I would have thought you were still nice even if you had turned out to have a tacky list though, lol.

lol

My bio pretty much sums up how I felt when the CU went live. Felt drunk and had no idea what was going on.

BTW whats with the "check out the top5 tippers in my bio" thing anyway. Personally I think that kind of info should be private between the entertainer and the customer . . . and it makes you look like you're judgeing people on the size of their wallets.

That was a bot thing, most of us old schoolers are pretty horrified by that because it seems like we are like buying customers, heh. Thanking people in spatial and remembering people's names so we can keep up with them are the older way of handling things. (and the nicer way imo )

I automatically put anyone who spams on my ignore list. I don't care who they are. If they are afk, they don't get any second chances. If they are there, I will ask they to please stop and if they don't, on the list they go. I /addignore anyone who repeats the same thing over and over... whether it is something they are saying or an emote.

There are also certain "catch phrases" that garner an instant /addignore the very first time I hear them.

  • "Invite me if I'm not already grouped."

  • "Please tip your entertainers."

  • Anything about a "top tippers" list.

  • "Watch me, I'm new."

  • etc, etc.

I ended up in an entertainer group at Dantooine mining outpost the other night, and 3 of my group members were already on my ignore from previous encounters. One was for spamming 'buff bot' services in /planet over the past few weeks, 2 were for a "tip me" macro with no pauses. I added a further group member within an hour. She was spamming GROUPCHAT with "teach me plz" x10 every few mins. I asked her to stop that and that I would teach her if I could, but don't have that skill, and she continued relentlessly. I sent her a tell informing her that I was adding her to ignore and why.

Increasingly I am finding that most of the entertainers in the cantinas are already on my ignore list

Interesting that you should mention this. Last night I noticed some AFK spammer in MO - in particular I noticed that he clearly had the AFK tag on over his head, and I was still seeing his spam messages (I had just added him to my ignore list at that point). That prompted me to go into my settings and look for the spam filter. As I recall the box said "Allow messages from AFK players". It was unchecked so I assume my spam filter is "on". Is anyone else noticing that the AFK filter is NOT working?
