Thread: shout outs in your macro?
Was it an email from them, Panthu? You shouldn't have gotten it if they were on ignore. If not I'm confused as to what you mean.
I also ignore the spammers. I had one today in Theed, not only spamming every 30 seconds (I checked) but spelled absolutely atrociously, asking for tips and so on. I added her to ignore and proceeded to dance my happy heart out.
A short while later she walked over and stood in front of me for several minutes. I assume she was asking me something. I almost felt bad enough to take her off and check. Then I decided her name was too confusing to spell and it woulda just been too hard to put her back on after.

Yes, I had an ingame stalker last year, add ignore does mail, spatial, tells, anything they say in channels, the whole deal. Sadly it doesnt stop them from logging in multi chars on other servers till you get all those ignored. I dreamed of a /addignore acct command. Cause once i got them all ignored hed cycle through again. bleee!

I found out something I didn't know today. I had banned someone to bump them out of a Cantina for AFK macroing asking for tips at a very fast pace (and on center stage no less, hehe) and also added them to my ignore list.
Today I got a tell asking to remove them from the list that they knew the cantina rules now and didn't I get the email saying so? No, I didn't get the email. Is that always how it's worked?

If they are there, I will ask they to please stop and if they don't, on the list they go. I /addignore anyone who repeats the same thing over and over... whether it is something they are saying or an emote.
There are also certain "catch phrases" that garner an instant /addignore the very first time I hear them.
- "Invite me if I'm not already grouped."
- "Please tip your entertainers."
- Anything about a "top tippers" list.
- "Watch me, I'm new."
- etc, etc.
No most of them get a second chance.
Most of them are new players who got a macro send by some other "established" entertainer, and they just copied it. yeah still not nice, but once you explain to them, that constant shouting and begging for tips has the totally oposite effect than just being nice and talking to the people, most of them answer "oh sorry, didn't know that, i'm new", and actually stop.
Some don't care, and say so, others are already afk. Those I ignore, but I send them a tell anyway... if they don't stop, /addignore they go.
About emails: I was pretty sure emails get stopped till a month ago. I'd tested it quite some time ago and they got stopped.
However i get emails now from people on my ignore, well just one person, who apperently has me on his friendslist and sends spam mails to everyone once in a while.
I'd not count on that people can send you emails if they're ignored, but would also not rule it out.

Well, move them out from under the person playing them to another part of the cantina at least..
My ignore list grows every day. ent spammers, trade spammers, "lozorz, roflocopterz, pwnd j00 nub"'ers and more.
Altho, sometimes I try to explain to some of the new entertainers that is actually at the keyboard while they spam out their spam, why they are ignore by most people. Some understood it, and removed their spam, in favor of ATK talk and a more "welcomming atmosphere" in the cantina.
too bad, for every one I've managed to persuade to stop, next to them stood 10 AFK spammers, so the cantina didnt get much better for them.( Considering I had those 10 on my ignore allready, my cantina was nice, but most new players are so careful, and feel bad for ignoring spammers that perhaps helped them with a skillbox sometime in the past)
