Ok I recently took a trip to Mos Eisley cantina. . . the new Theed . . . to get my pilots license (yeah I was a rebel pilot . . its a long story . . .off topic though). As soon as I got out of the starport . . BLAMO. . . ."tip your dancers please", "top 5 tippers in my bio", etc etc.

Now I'm hoping these are buffbots . . . please please please let them be buffbots becuase I can't understand why anyone at the keys would need to repeat these shouts every 5-10 seconds. It gets to a point I can barely use /addignore . . .and the last thing I want to do is use the command on an entertainer.

So I beg . . . I implore . . . . pleaseplease please if you're at the keys . . take the shouts out of your macros . . . all they do is add clutter and make you less entertaining.

BTW whats with the "check out the top5 tippers in my bio" thing anyway. Personally I think that kind of info should be private between the entertainer and the customer . . . and it makes you look like you're judgeing people on the size of their wallets.

They AFKers, Not real entertainer has those kinds of things in their macro

Some People think that it will cause rivleries, for some reason people think that being the top tipper on a bot is being generous... so they tip alot in hopes of getting on the list.

Still others do it to show appriciation to those who have tipped them alot, I used to have one for a while, but I stopped using it. pretty quickly

I've been seeing a lot more of this macro spam lately. It's usually afkers but not always. As for using /addignore on "fellow" Ents... why not? Spam is spam and I addignore ALL spammers. I don't care who they are, what prof they are, what they are spamming, or where or why. They go on ignore.

Some of us ATKs were having a grand time playing in the Bestine cantina one night when an "apparent" newbie showed up, parked next to our group and immediately went into afk macro mode. He spammed incessantly. "Watch me, tip me, I am new, plz, blah blah blah." We all sent him a mail letting him know how annoying and rude that was and why he was not invited to the group and why we all put him on ignore. But some of our regular customers decided it was more fun to slap and punch him and such. And they mailed him too. The next day he was gone. I imagine he went to a cantina where the afkers outnumbered the ATKs.

As for the Top Tippers in the bio thing; I've seen that a lot too. It is a game of One Upmanship. It "encourages" customers to beat the highest tipper inthe list. Equal to Highest Score. I think it's awful. It's like turning yourself into a pinball machine where customers "play you" to see who can get the highest score. Bleh.

I don't care if my tip is a simple "Thank you" or an AV-21. I thank the patron privately via tell or mail. (I got a 1 mil tip once but it was from a patron who wished it donated to my city treasury and I got a 300ktip one time and when I sent a tell asking if that was an accidental tip he assured me it was not. All those conversations were in private tells or mails. That is "business" between the patron and the entertainer.) The bio or a spam macro is not the place for that. It's inappropriate.

It's both sad and amusing.

I realized the other day that people were talking on the entertainer channel to themselves... then I realized that they were talking to someone who had joined but was on my ignore list for spamming. My policy is I don't care who you are, if you repeat the same line to me 3 times you go on ignore -- I have a very low spam tolerance, and when I was hanging out in mos eisley the spammers were lagging me down to 1 - 2 FPS even after I had them all ignored. It was just plain disgusting.

The tip bio thing makes me want to cry as well. The only thing is that it's amusing to see people so proud of "huge" tips that are half the size of a normal tip for me. Which of course proves the point I've always made that tips are a product of respect, and no one respects a vending machine and no one respects someone who asks for money/demands to be paid.

Honestly I don't know what to do about it. Back in the day I tried politely asking people to stop, explaining that it detracted from the environment, was just plain tacky, and in the end resulted in fewer tips. I was either ignored because the offending "player" was AFK, or laughed at and told I didn't know anything. Never once was I able to convince someone that spamming was a bad idea. But then, as loud as I can be on these forums I'm really not that much for yelling at people in game.

I'll ignore spammers no matter what, even entertainers, even if it's just an emote spam. If it clutters my spatial, it's gone.

Now, the day may well arise that I need armor and there is a guy spamming in the starport that he's selling the godly armor of ub3rness for one credit... and I can't hear him cause he's on my ignore list. I'll take my chances.

Ditto. Well said, as usual, big N.

To the OP... yes, these are AFKers. I don't know any (sane) player who would spam himself into oblivion every 5 seconds.

I did see one newb trying to do it; he had some "watch me/tip me" thing going and was in our group. After this went off about once every 45 seconds for 3 or 4 times, I politely said over /g, "Please don't spam.. customers hate it." and he stopped.

I will add though, I do have songs I sing. I /sing a line every 6 seconds. The songs go along with music I am playing. That could be considered spam, I guess... though nobody has ever complained, and usually I get applause and HUGE tips for my songs.

Yay for Yny trolling the dancer forums! Besides being a gigantic ATK ent supporter, he has a dancer himself and is just a kickass guy. Much love for the cuddly wookiee.

As for spamming in macros... there's VERY little I hate more than that. I'm with Jess on this one - if it clutters my spatial, it's gone. I'll ask them first to please remove it, and if they don't, they get booted from the group and /ignored. I'm heartless like that.

Aww, that's cool. I figured he was a nice guy though, jerks don't even bother to ask why some people don't like something they do, hehe.

Hehe.

Being a male entertainer tips are few and far between, so I tend to remember the ones to tip more than those who don't.

Thanks for the kind words Fuschia.
