The vast, vast majority of female toons are being played by guys, there's no denying that. I'd say at least 80-90% of all female toons are guys, and you ladies know what? We have every reason to be suspicious, dont take it personally though because unless the guy is actually being insulting, it's just a defense mechanism. I've met ppl in-game that were guys, playing female characters, and acting like women to get cheap/free stuff from guys. Then there are some guys that are actually gay, playing female characters then hitting on other guys, its a little creepy but it doesnt have anything to do with homophobia. I've got nothing at all against gays/lesbians, got more than a few friends in real life that are homosexual, but pretending to be a woman than hitting on guys is just wrong. Be gay, all the power to you, but dont pretend to be something you're not just because of the animosity of the internet.
That being said, I assume every female character I see is in reality a guy, unless they give some kind of proof to the contrary or I know them already. There are too many demented guys out there that wouldnt hesitate to jump at the opportinuty to take advantage of the fact that they can play female characters and not have it known that they're really a guy, since its no secret that guys in general are alot nicer to women as opposed to other men. Frankly, better safe than sorry, props to all the real ladies that are out there playing SWG though.

But really, what does it matter if you have no idea and aren't going to cybz0r them?
I tend not to care what the real sex of the player is. "OMG I flirted with a MAN!!!!!!" Heh, right, I make a point to flirt with the male @ssholes in the cantina anyway....

Just wanted to say, this thread is a very fun read.
By the way, I'm male, play male characters, and have no experience playing an entertainer in this game. Even so, I can identify with many things written here because of my brother and my cousin's characters (both are men, playing female characters).

I was a drama geek who had an overactive imagination. I hate that cheerleader-types have made gamer guys so cautious of any type of female attention (online or otherwise) because I've often found that gamer guys/geeks in general are the sweetest type of guys. But that was off-topic.Since this has come up, I've been tempted to make a flamingly gay male character on one of the other servers just to see if anyone calls me female. heh.
Make one on Bria and you can dance next to me
I do have to say that the interaction in these types of games can be odd sometimes though. Having been a dancer on a few different servers at different times, I have noticed that a lot of the "female" toons seem to use their femininity to get what they want and that bothers me. Or I notice that guys will give more attention to a novice female dancer than a male that happens to be a master dancer. I usually get treated with very little respect as a dancer, if anything people will demand buffs from me and then leave little to nothing for a tip (unless it's a REAL female or another guy that is either a little more respectful than the others or, well, you know
I too, prefer to play the game with females though. I think I enjoy the time a lot more since I don't really enjoy talking about all this l33t crap that a lot of guys like talking about. I'm not out to prove my schwarz is bigger than the next guys. I'm just out to have some fun. I enjoy dancing in my hot pants with my kitties at my side and when I hunt, it's for my pleasure or to search for the next rare pet to add to my collection. It's not cause I want to head out and get some l33t, uber prize/loot.
So, praise be to all the real females in the game that play to have fun.... and praise be to all the guys that are more in touch with themselves as human beings to accept others in any way shape or form.
And yes, I have had too much coffee already.....so excuse this post LOL.
Oh and Chii, I use smiles a lot too... but I'm a guy

There are a few times I've been mistaken for a guy because for some reason guys just can't believe that normal girls do play online games, besides of course SIMs or some game like that. For the most part I just ignore those people and pretend they don't exist.
What is interesting is that no matterhow good a pvper you are or how knowledgeable you are about the game, guys have to contradict what you have to say about anything in game. They insist thatwhat worked for you is a fluke and that their method is better.......so things should be done their way. Of course, if another guy suggested that same exact thing I suggested, they would take them seriously.
To test this, I asked my boyfriend to give my advice but through his char the next time someone asked a question on guild chat. The same question I had just answered a few days ago was asked again in guild chat. My boyfriend gave the same answer I did but of course through his char. Guess what happened? Yup, they listened to him and actually took his advice.
The only time they ask for my opinion is for girlie things like dancer or clothes.....in their minds I couldn't possibly be helpful in things such as pvp or anything they would consider more manly.

OMG!!! I just realized that my guild on Bloodfin was showing up under my sig.
Just to set the record straight, I am not talking about Wolf Brigade. They have been great.
I'm talking about a guild on Radiant...one that I am no longer part of due to the problems I mentioned above.

What bothers me is the Males that think because I am dancing sexy in skimpy clothes flirting with every guy or girl that walks in the door that I am interested in.... Wait... My bad.
Yeah the "u must be a Todd" stuff gets old... If there weren't so many guys lying about their gender while playing female characters and so many guys looking for real women while playing the game... This wouldn't even BE an issue.

It's quite funny really... on my main character, Kaline, I've only been accused of being a guy once that I can remember, and that was right after I kicked some dude's butt halfway across Eisley. He was like "U must be a guy, no way a RL girl can fight that well."
I DO notice that I've been getting hit on a lot more as my twi'lek dancer/musician, but that may just be because even when Kaline was a master dancer, she was still a TKM who was well known for beating people up if they got on her wrong side. I had a male entertainer for a while, but I decided to delete him and make a female. This was partly because of looks and clothes : I've never had a twi, I wanted to try one out with all the nice headgear, and partly because I just wasn't playing him. I made a fairly convincing guy, from all accounts (One person was like... you're Kaline, too? Uh ... but you're female, aren't you?"), but it just felt a little odd, and I don't think the dances looked as nice. I dance a lot more with my female character.
I flirt with male and female toons, it really doesn't matter to me what sex they are behind the screen.
The only problem I have with men playing women is when they go for a stereo-typical view... either a saucy flirty ho, or an ice queen. The best roleplayers I know are guys who play girls that are different from the "norm", and those are the ones that it's the most difficult to tell with.
