Thread: Pro/Anti AFK/Bot/Macro All Purpose Sticky

I honestly don't see what all the drama is about. If this is just about the money, then there are other ways of coming by it. Is it some kind of principle I am missing? No one is stopping you from entertaining. If you aren't having fun or making money, maybe this isn't the profession for you. I don't think when the devs were creating the entertainer prof, they had in mind "Everyone stand in a heap in the cantina and gripe about the afk-ers and bots". There are empty theaters and cantinas everywhere that I have never seen in use. Never have I ever heard of someone putting on a concert or "ballet".
Cantina crawl series, Starport jam series. Both massive events that put entertainers out there in the public eyeto entertain. Maybe you've never heard because you just aren't listening. Many other servers besides bria have their own variants of these.
What its about is feeling like your a part of the community,I dont feel like a part of the community when what i do is done for free 24 hours a day by someone that thinks im just a hassle to bother with.

Again Drygo, you obviously dont know much about combat. Come out and fight me some time and ill show you how essential buffs are. I will ALLWAYS be buffed... If you remove buff bots, you put my opponents at a disadvantage.
You need to learn how to make a customer base, and friends. I have 30-40 players that all ways seek me out when im on live entertaineing.. Get a droid, make the show cool.. Use the macros to your advantage. People will pay to see you and you will make money. Will you make doc level cash? No.. Should you? Absolutely not.
And you may not have been abusive but MANY entertainers are.
Mind buffs are an essential and your argumens have not shown otherwise. All i read from your posts is the same hate against buff bots that you have been posting all this week.
Buff bots are helpfull and players like them. Removeing them with cause lots of canceled accounts and angry players.

From a consumer's point of view, what I would really like to see the devs do for the Ent prof (crafters too really) is a better, more "in your face" form of advertisement. Perhaps some sort of in-game yellow pages with ads (since the planet map is pretty useless in most cases, ie the number of vendors named misc/stuff or just "resources") or a billboard system (maybe like in the shuttling loading screen thingy).
Sure the forums are a good place for this type of thing, but I don't think they take into consideration enough that there are MANY of us that *gasp* primilary just play the game.
Ok, that was a bit off-topic. So to bring it back around:
I think this would be a fantastic way of advertising concerts, etc in game. Aside from weddings, as a player who rarely visits the forums, etc. I never hear about these events and feel that I am missing out on an entire corner of the game. I would love to see what formal, choreographed events the "true" entertainers can come up with. :-)

The only thing wrong with combat ballance today is armor.. Nerf armor, problem solved with combat.. Buffs are not the issue...
They are needed in combat.
Yes they are taking time to wait to put 90% of the development team on the combat rebalance after jump to lightspeed just to nerf armor.
Armor was designed before buffs, the controling factor on armor usage is encumbrance, past a certain point it becomes useless if the encumbrance is to high, buffs make encumbrance irelivant, alowing the use of armor that normaly would be totaly useless and unwearable, so yeah buffs are the issue.

See, I think this is very on topic for this because it is trying to give insight on a way to make entertainers easier to access. It would help both sides of the fences. I personally think your idea would be great, and it would be a way to bring about "Agents". This could work to bring some interdependency between Merchants and Entertainers, which has been mused a few times before. However, it's still a good idea and could help with making things better for everyone.

You sound like a school yard bully. Sheesh. Not that I'm actually going to go "fight" you. LOL. But, you're the one who keeps ignoring the completely valid arguments that I am making. In a world without buffbots, every person is on an equal playing field. You either get buffs or you don't. And, if you get them it's because your alt or a friend or a person selling his/her wares gives you one. These are the same options that anybody else has. There are no advantages or disadvantages in this world, merely encouragement to respect entertainers and invite them into your guilds and your circle of friends so that you are assured a buff. It's a win-win situation for everybody involved.
And as for your comment about me not knowing much about combat, the last two duels I was in I won...without mind buffs. /shrug
You need to learn how to make a customer base, and friends. I have 30-40 players that all ways seek me out when im on live entertaineing.. Get a droid, make the show cool.. Yourassumptions speak volumes about your ignorance. And your assertions about my incompetence as an entertainer are nothing but insulting. I would ask that you stop making statements such as in the aboveparagraph because I honestly don't know how much longer I can "be a bigger person" here. Seriously. Verbal smackdowns, they are a comin'.
Mind buffs are an essential and your argumens have not shown otherwise. All i read from your posts is the same hate against buff bots that you have been posting all this week.
Mind buffs are not essential, and your arguments have not shown otherwise. All I read from your posts is an unwillingness to look at this issue from somebody else's perspective who has had different experiences than you, as well as your failure to realize that your supposed success as an entertainer is a minority experience within the game.
Buff bots are helpfull and players like them. Removeing them with cause lots of canceled accounts and angry players.
Buffbots are damaging and players hate them. Leaving them unchecked causes entertainers to quit entertaining, to become angry, and to cancel accounts on a regular basis. I should know, I myself have been one of the many who cancelled, only to resubscribe the very day I found out the recursive macro was being removed, in the hopes that our professions will one day be valid again.

Wrong.
Buffs being overavailable nullifies the negative effects of armor. Without buffs we wouldn't be able to wear the 90% comp and still spam specials. The problem isn't the armor, the problem is that the armor's negative side is cancelled out.
And the spamming of specials as she mentions agravates the imbalance even further, another thing that buffs have enabled.
