Creature Handler Archive
Thread: DISCUSSION THREAD: Issues with Creature Handler in the Combat Upgrade.
#1) The "You can't tame that" bug... when I am a Master CH!
#2) Pet storage/max level... I agree with those who suggested a 50 pet limit and CL 80 pets for Master CHs.
#3) The xp cap that prevents new CH's from progressing past Novice.
Other issues:
#4) When respecing a BE Pet, we REALLY need a warning of what the respec will do to it.I hate ending up with level 70+ pets that I have no other option but to delete.
#5) Pet size of BE pets. Big pets may look cool, but I prefer smaller ones to use for hunting, not to mention mounts that grow too big to be ridden.
#6) Should be able to see ALL stats of ALL of my pets, wild tamed as well as BE.
Why did they remove /peace in the first place? I get so frustrated trying to /peace when tapping a lair and the option just is gone.

pets inPVP arent that great it must be said
pets as tanks in PVE are amazing. just messing about i sent my 4k health 1200 armor (health regen 0 preCU) gurrcat to attack a savage humbaba (cl81) lair. within a minute he had 12 savage humbaba beating on him and never went under 3k health at any point. it gave me time to casually pick them off one by one without any aggroing me
quality and i am only ch 0424 so cl40 max pets. MCH must have amazing tanks.
I think your pet is definitely bugged.
A couple of days ago, I witnessed a fight between a couple of over fokes against a single pet.
That pet dropped to 1 health immediately, but it stayed at 1 health constantly. He just couldn't get killed.
Was pretty funny to see tho, there were like 3 jedi throwing all their best attacks at that pet, and that pet just stood there and hit the jedi with 120 damage or something like that ![]()
Yeah seriously, I'm close to deleting all my old pets. Just so I can try to get a fresher look at the new CH and pets without comparing to my old ones. Personally they still need to be better. More health in general, more damage would be nice but not totally necessary, some type of agro building special that only a few wild pets would have..
Also I came here to post I thought of a cool thing, haven't seen it posted, I'm sure it's been thought of though. CH should get some bonus to speed for all their pets. So mounts used by them will be faster (heck would be nice if they were as fast as a speeder atleast). But if they did this then a CH that's whole life is dedicated to using their pets will have more motivation and ease to using their pets non-stop. No more pets not keeping up. It seems very reasonable.
Oooh, where to start? I apologize ahead of time, I'm not going to be able to limit myself.
1) Pet specials/stats/skills need to be reworked. Basically, the CH skill tree needs to be fixed so that a) everything we gain actually works, and b) everything we gain is useful (I don't mind the tricks, they're kinda cool, but please at least give us another command in this box that we can actually use). Also, bring back the elite pets! It means nothing if I tame a cl 70 creature because it is identical to every other cl 70 creature . . . now if I somehow found a lvl 70 GPS . . . /drool (not that it'd ever happen /sigh but you get the point)
2) Pets as effective weapons in PvP and PvE! This includes: a) pets as tanks (fix the hate system), b) being able to call pets even though in combat, c) no call-pet timer, d) pets who are higher than a puny level 70 and who actually have armor and resists (ties in with #1), and e) pets who can deal damage befitting their level. Oh yes, and I'll throw this one under this number: pets actually being able to keep up with you, and pets that are sized correctly.
3) Rework grinding for MCH. I have truly never heard of a more ridiculous grind, especially since CH was not my first profession. I started as a BH/Rifleman but switched the rifles to CH (now I don't know why). By the time I startedtaming, I was already a CL 30. All the pets I tamed were completely unable to keep up with me. In order to get the most amount of CH XP, my creature had to do the most damage; how is that supposed to happen? Stuff that my pet could actuallykill would only get me 1 point of CH XP. I propose that for grinding, you get creature XP based on the level ofyour pet vs. theNPC, not your level. Plus, the amount of XP gained from killing/taming stuff should be increased, and should not be a tradeoff with your damage. I was finally able to grind CH when I started hunting with others who were okay with the fact that I wasn't shooting, just using my low-level, worthless pets.
I must keeping going . . .
4) Bugs in general! Please, please, please, if any other profession (such as BH or Jedi - and as a FS BH, I feel I can say something about this) had been this buggy for so long, the game would be over! Kaput! Done! Somehow, we CHs have the patience of the gods! Examples: a) You can't tame that (?!?!), b) XP cap (this will potentially kill our profession!)
And the rest are just cool things I'd like to see . . . you don't have to read farther but I would love these . . .
1) Increased pet storage - I like the point made before, pets are weapons, we should not be capped - or at least the ability to store pets in another location, like a 'zoo' (a.k.a pet house, or something . . . be creative, go wild)
2) Pet clothing! Pet armor! The ability for IDs to change my pet's appearance! /squirms with excitement
3) The ability for CHs to choose whether they want a newly tamed pet to be dropped in a house as an 'ornament' - like BE pets - or actually be used. Along with this should come the ability to sell pets to others easily (this would require that #1 on my 'wish list' also happen, or else what's the point? - you'd have to tame one, come back to a city and sell it, go back out, tame another, repeat, ugh)
4) Fix mount's speed - when I finally trained the ability (post CU)to use a pet as a mount, I was so excited! That lasted all of about two seconds. At least make it so that CH pets run faster. I never use the mount command now - it's completely worthless. But as a CH I should never want to store my pet.
Now I'm going to go dream about what it'll be like if they ever actually fix our profession . . .

In no particular order:
Pet Specials are broken. Whether I can command them or not, they should get used by the pets. There's not much excitement when everything only does the same form of damage.
Pet Speed. When I was less experienced, trying to tame creatures faster and stronger than myself was actually tense and exiting. Not necessarily mounts but it seem odd (from game mechanics and role playing aspects) that I can outrun most everything in the game.

stat converted pets are officially rubbishas are all mine that i waited on then level converted but got the "we ruined your pet's stats as the level wouldve been too high"
the key is converting pets with high health and resists preCU. they get 0 health regen but will convert very well apart from that
if i'm honest, about 16/18 of my initial preCU pets are ruined. i sold a few and went out buying any without light armour but with good health and resists. they convert VERY nicely, check the global vendor lists...
My Narg had very high health and 65% kenitic and energy resists...could not find higher on the server and he converted to an unusable level
