Creature Handler Archive
Thread: DISCUSSION THREAD: Issues with Creature Handler in the Combat Upgrade.
You Know, I agree with everyone else, but wanna adda fewmore.
1.Those of us who have been MCH for Quite some time(Since the beginning of the game) have pets that we wanna keep for pure fun. They don't really function as combat, but they take up the space. I would like to see eithermore pet space in the data pad.Or maybe being able to store them in a house.Or give up a special Creature housing building or something.Like a stable.
2. I woudl LOVE to see some of the old pets creature babies come back. They don't even Have to been good pets....But I wanna see some come back.Example:Giant Peko Peko and torons.Man I kick myself for not gettingthesewhen I had the chance way back when, and now their babies ar extinct.Infact still keeping my eye open for em. I just think they should be back in action.
3. I would Like to start more CH skill tapes/attachments.Like Max Lvl of Pets or something along that line.Would be cool.
4.Something that would be cool would be creating a market for ch's, wherewe can tame pets, train them, and put em in a vender for sale. Help the "economy".
Well Thats All I can think of for the time being.Just putting in my 2 cents as a Vet Ch.
I must admit I didnt read all the treads here yet, thus I hope I may have found a soultion to the tank problem. All the pets in my stock pre-CU are not "equipped" with an aggro bonus. They read off aggro bonus 0,0.Pre-CU pets seems to be converted 0,0 too mostly or at all cases. That should not be a big deal compared to the rest of bad CU-conversion (like my 90% slice 39% stun armor, uber stun weaponsetc for the most got totally nerfed past CU).
I have found andpurchased CU bio pets now that are still growing so haven't been able to test them properly yet. Thus I went and got the pets with best possible stats included the highests aggro bonuses. Like about 10-15% aggro bonus. I think that's the deal here to CU. So if anyone can confirm/reject this please do so. And there is the Enrage pet skill on 0040 CH that makes them dish better damage which should apply better tanking also, if your intent with pets are to let them do most the damage.
However with this said, as a MCH/master riflemanwith a 307 base mod T21 rifle, I would not find myself surpriced to get self-aggroedif I let the pet tank 4-5 seconds then fire off an aimed sniper shot. That is how RPG-combat-statistics function in basic.

To be honest, I find that a good thing.
It is normal that a pet won't attack his own species. I mean, do you see Chewbacca attack other wookies if Han says him to do so ? I don't think so.
But It would also be normal that nor the pet-owner, nor the pet gets aggrod by a creature of your pet's species.
This whole thing would bring much more 'life' in the galaxy, much more interaction...

I agree, I did think this through before posting and am an animal person in real life. I wouldn't expect some of my pets to attack one another (though that's not the way of nature like 50% of the time).
Does no one else thing pets are almost worthless? I mean when I think CH I think that a pet should have the possibility of tanking. I'm not sure even a BE pet designed for tanking would beable to tank adequately enough. More so take the hit points and not beincapped before the animal it's fighting is dead.
I'm just so damn frustrated with CH lately. I have 2 chars, 1 master and 1 novice, with CH. Neither one of them I'm enjoying anymore. & Jez, my pets for my lvl in the wild don't do much damage and so I don't even get much xp before the pet is incapped. Part of that is 'cuz my CH lvl is 14 and my combat lvl is 27. So I'm stuck with lower ch xp compared to my combat xp, which is frustrating. But on my close to master character I can't have my pets tank hardly. And those pets are 2 elite narglatches I caught. Yet for my lvl 58 they can't tank without atleast 1 being incapped and the 2nd being almost incapped.
Just want input. More so to know if there's any chance they'll make CH a little better for real tanking in next few months. Otherwise I feel it's a waste and would just buy a BE non-CH pet and respec out of CH. Which is very sad to me, but almost seems like a better solution for the skill points.
I think the best we can hope for really is for pet specials to be fixed, and the useability/ergonomic bugs and glitches (e.g. pet movement/following speed, clunkiness of calling/recalling pets and such) to be cleaned up, but honestly, unless this game gets a large influx of developers, the skeleton crew it's running on now are not going to get to any of that in a timely frame. All we can really do is make sure the issues are not forgotten and do the best we can with what we have until that distant day when a miracle happens and we actually get some positive attention.
Though doesn't it seem odd how soft pets are against other players? In PvP has anybody found their pet to be truely useful against the other player? & I don't mean that they can take out a full templated player. But maybe make a large dent before being exterminated? Curious if anybody has had any good experiences with this.
In theory lvl shouldn't matter in pvp, so 2 lvl 22 7000 HAM pets shouldn't be something to snuff at, I'd think. Heck they did do decent damage. Though the person just kept healing themself and diseasing & poisening the pets.
Oh and also, it would appear armor isn't working on pets. Obviously you don't know what the armor is of tamed wild pets (for some mystical reason a pet tamer doesn't know this?), but even BE pets where there was an armor value before "tame" it then vanishes in "tame" process. I tested it in combat and didn't see any armor effect in the combat details.
