So now MBE like Denzibo or whatever the %*&& his name is comes here tellling us how much our profession SUCKS and to go buy gouged overprice pets off his vendor so we can be viable? %*&$ you!
The fact of the matter is that when all the time is added up, you only have to wait a few more seconds to call a creature with the timer.
To the people who think that a pet is a weapon: Go ask a Dev if a pet is a (1) weapon or if a pet is (2) more akin to having an extra person with you holding a weapon. I will bet real money that he or she will side with my point of view. Any takers?
I like how everyone is sidestepping my Dathomir Jedi example because everyone knows that this is one of many possible unbalanced, unfair combat and griefing tactic which would result should players be allowed to call a pet anytime, anywhere.
If a 30 second timer is removed you will see many bad situations that the absence of a timer will allow. The benefits to the entire SWG community of having a 30 second timer GREATLY outweighs the extra 6 seconds of inconvenience scouts will have to wait to call a pet.
You have to stop and rationally ask yourself why you're so bent out of shape over waiting 6 seconds.
Vertexon,
Twopointsbrought up I found to be VERY concerning:
- cycling through creatures to check out stats (res)... having to wait 30sec to cycle through 20+ creatures is UNACCEPTABLE.
- Having to hold up a group for 30 secs everytime a new pet is needed
IMHO, in cities and tents vehicles, pets, and droids should be callable at will... this is the case now and I know of **NO** exploit.
Outside of town, therecould be a 30sec timer on vehicles and a 15sec of pets... Furthermore, a MCH should be given the ability to have **no** timer on pets as a "perk" of being a MCH... In fact, since pets are worthless anyhow ATM, MCH should be able to **call** (not store) one additional pet EVEN WHILE IN COMBAT.
If TH insists on a 30sec timer on pets why dont you request a 30 sec timer on unequiping armor, weapons, and using food/spice...
Tell TH it's not fair that a HomeMaker can "POKE" into a Master Commando with a flame gun, full suit of composite armor, and buff himself with food/spice.
Bottom line is (and this has been made over and over):
- There is already TIMER on pets in combat!!! It's 60 secs
- Pets are IGNORED in PvP as they do next to **NO** damage and they go down in less then 10secs by a MTKA
- Mounted pets slow in combat so that they are hardly faster then running normally... you can gallop but how different is that from burst run???? If there is a 15 sec timer on pets that should help balance out that SLIGHT issue of people getting **two** burst runs (holds on for the earthquake)
Anyhow, thats my two cents.. Great work Vertexon, I know you're doing your best when it comes to that thicked headed numb nuts TH.
PS
To those who say that calling creatures at will is different then cycling through your weapons, please remember that TH did not use even 1/10 of the kind of intellectualarguments you guys are making...
His justification was he didnt want CH to be able to "Poke" there pets in combat and surprise their opponents.. Well he doesnt seem to care that much when HomeMaker "Poke" into commandos... What makes us CH so distinctive that we should be single out in this (that is setting aside the small little fact that, due to the 60sec combat timer, we cant do that... that is also side stepping the fact our pets are worthless in PvP).

Here is the thing:
There is no "griefing" exploit being addressed.
This 30 second timer is, in my opinion, punishment.
Punishment for embarassing the developers by destroying their arguments for keeping the camping requirement with relentless, unassailable logic.
They are angry at the CH community, in particular, for showing how illogical and unsupported by fact the camp to call requirement was. The thing is, it wasn't until the debacle of the vehicle launch made the camping requirement a problem for the entire player base that something was done. If it were just the hated pokemasters complaining, the cries could be ignored. But once it broke out into the general population (and, significantly, affected the Jedi, which are the ultimate marketing tool of thistroubled game) the tide could not be stemed.
Thunderheart's attempt to defend the camp requirement was an embarassment; it was obvious that he was asked to defend a concept that had been rendered obsolete by other mechanisms. TH cannot think on his feet; he depended on the developers to provide him with a justification for the camping requirement, and they failed him miserably.
So, this is there way of giving everyone calling ability in the wilderness, but making it painful. It's vindictive in its very nature. It's unsupported by any logical, gameplay related justification.
I challenge the developers to present a logical, well constructed argument as to why there must be a 30 second delay on the calling of creature pets, of droids, of faction pets, or of vehicles. What is the issue here? Why is this necessary? No one has presented an argument, based on play balance or game mechanics, or even database, server, or client performance issues as to why this 30 second timer is needed.
We are not unreasonable people. If a solid argument is presented I will conceed the point! But as of this date, I have yet to see any compelling reason to impose this requirement! Unless you're imposing a 30 second delay on calling EVERYTHING, be it a rancor, a scout blaster, a composite armor helmet, or a fishing rod, this new requirement is arbitrary and capricious in nature, and cannot be justified.
Prove me wrong, developers! Do it now!!

New Mounts: Players have two new mounts available to them with Publish 7; Banthas and Cu-Pa’s!
Camp Restrictions Removed: After Publish 7, players will no longer be required to be in camps to pull out Vehicles, Mounts, Droids or Pets and can pull them out wherever they are, eliminating the player inconveniences of having to find rural areas far from cities, lairs and other no-build zones in order to build a camp. The basic rules of calling Vehicles, Mounts, Droids or Pets are:
· A player will not be able to call a vehicle/mount/pet/droid during combat or 60 seconds after combat is concluded.
· There is a 30 second delay after you call for a vehicle/mount/pet/droid before it will generate.
· A player will not be able to call a mount/pet/droid while mounted or on a vehicle.
· A player will not be able to call a vehicle while mounted or on a vehicle."
Sorry, but its all crap. Refuse to fix problems while adding more frustration to CHs?
its pretty pathetic.
then to try dressing it up with the "patch 7 additions"......Im starting to think politicians are less sleazy with their doubletalk and promises
I really have to wonder if other companies treat their development plan and customer base like this...
Denezib,
I notice Master TKA, Master BE, hmmm no CH?
You are obviously an authority on CH. Thanks for the input. I am sure someone appreciated it.
Vert, TH,
Let me see if I have this straight: 1) You ask the CH community, what pet would you like to see as the next mount? Answer: By a Land slide: ANY CATS or ALL CATS. Therefore I am assuming Banthas = Cats. Second choice was either Rancors or Spider therefore I am assuming Cu'pas = Rancors or Spiders. OH darn I guess we didn't get the right input in correct. Oh oh oh no no that's not it, we weren't clear enough. No no that wasn't it either, no the Devs screwed over the CH's again and said hey you bunch of poke pet players with cowardly pets here is your new mounts may the farce be on you.
I do not believe Cu pas even made it on the list. Who wants another two legged looking chicken replacement mount?
Guys I figured it out, yup i did. Our pets are not cowards it's the gnorts that are and our pets are chasing them into the next universe. It really isn't a bug at all. It really isn't happening (pass me another hit of LSD please) oh the world of SWG is wonderful, is that a tie dyed butterfly. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm who cares.

BerentD wrote:The 30 second delay is a joke, what do they possibly think this does for the players other than cause more aggravation, especially for the CH community?New mounts...that's it? Banthas are cool, but who the heck decided on Cu pas??? I don't think I have seen many requests for Cu pa mounts around here...bagerasets, rancors, mereks...all those were on the requested lists. But Cu pas? Is it because they resemble Tauntauns?
I'm pretty sure they knew which mounts they were adding this publish and the whole thing about asking us which mounts we wanted was nothing but blowing smoke up our *edits*. The number one requested mount, I'm fairly sure, was cats.
I was curious on the request count for mounts in the "Let's Talk About Mounts" thread so I checked, if anyone wanted to know the top 10:
Top 10 most requested mounts
1 Any Flying Creature 38 requests (Peko-Peko the most with 14 requests)
2 Bantha 37 requests
3 Any Big Cat 35 requests (Greater Sludge Panther the most with 7 requests)
4 CuPa 26 requests
5 Rancor 25 requests
6 Any Big Creature 22 requests (Faamba/Torton tie with 9 requests)
7 Ronto 12 requests
7 Kimogila 12 requests
9 Gualama 10 requests
10 Kliknik 8 requests
So the most requested by specific name was Bantha and Cupa, so you can't fault them there, now this timer issue...
I'm not one for ranting and raving- so I won't.
What I will do is wait for the patch to come down and see how it affects my play.
Oh... and go and tame a Bantha right away. Not because I don't use a swooper bike, but because a mount is much better for checking out what lairs are spawning. And I always thought Banthas were cool.
