The fact of the matter is that when all the time is added up, you only have to wait a few more seconds to call a creature with the timer.

To the people who think that a pet is a weapon: Go ask a Dev if a pet is a (1) weapon or if a pet is (2) more akin to having an extra person with you holding a weapon. I will bet real money that he or she will side with my point of view. Any takers?

I like how everyone is sidestepping my Dathomir Jedi example because everyone knows that this is one of many possible unbalanced, unfair combat and griefing tactic which would result should players be allowed to call a pet anytime, anywhere.

If a 30 second timer is removed you will see many bad situations that the absence of a timer will allow. The benefits to the entire SWG community of having a 30 second timer GREATLY outweighs the extra 6 seconds of inconvenience scouts will have to wait to call a pet.

You have to stop and rationally ask yourself why you're so bent out of shape over waiting 6 seconds.

Ok, let's see once again.

First of all, your "bent out of shape over waiting 6 seconds" is still based off the flawed argument that every camp I drop is going to have to be crafted on the spot and the idea that I am standing next to a lair and have to wander for 15 seconds before I can find a valid drop location. Neither of these things are true 99% of the time, not to mention that the timer is 30 seconds. Get over this statement please. The timer is 30 seconds.

Your "Jedi grief scenario" is a moot point if you had actually READ WHAT I AM SAYING. You are directly responding to me in several of your response posts, yet you either are not reading my post or you are choosing to ignore what is being said.

Under my scenario with the proposed wilderness-only timer, the overt Imperial would either:

A). Drop a camp and call the AT-ST. By the time the camp materialized and the person opened their datapad to call the AT-ST, the Jedi would have had a couple seconds to realize someone was on their radar, because obviously both players appeared on each other's radar at the same moment. The Imp had time to determine "hey, it's a Jedi" and the Jedi had time to say "Oh no, someone is near me." If the Jedi hadn't started moving by then, it's their own fault. This, incidentally, is how the current system would allow the situation to go down. This also assumes a lot, that the Imperial ALREADY owns an AT-ST, was ALREADY overt, had ALREADY made a camp in their inventory, just HAPPENED to stumble upon a Jedi, and was near a spot where the camp could be instantly dropped. Lots of assumptions, this scenario is going to happen once in a great while.

B). Call the AT-ST. Wait 30 seconds for it to show up. By this point the Jedi would be gone. And if not, again, it's the Jedi's fault.

So I don't get what the problem is. Neither situation promotes grief, both situations give the Jedi ample time to be on their merry way. Situation A is how it plays out now, and I really have never in all my forum reading seen an actual scenario as you describe.

And as far as your pet being a companion not a weapon, I still maintain that I invested the skill points to give myself a class that has a combat benefit in addition to any aesthetic benefit I get from the simple fact of having/taming pets. My pets fight. Yes, I personally augment these skills with an additional combat class at this time. But there are times I have not while changing professions. My BE pet combo can deal out over 1000 base damage between the pets when called in battle. I consider this to be my weapon in many cases, because the damage is more than enough to bring down targets that I fight on a regular basis. I'm not talking about fighting krayt dragons or NPC force-sensitives, I'm talking about pikets, bols, dewbacks, etc. "Normal" things.

I welcome any further discussion on this topic, providing you please read all that I have said before simply re-iterating your past argument. Thank you.

You should leave the old system for vehicle and pet calling in place in addition to the new system.

So if you are in a camp or city the calling is instantainous. Otherwise you are going to have a lot of vehicles and pets laying raround in cities just because people are lazy andwont want to wait for 30 seconds before being able to call their vehicle. This will just add to the lag in larger cities and on popular hunting planets.

Doing this would allow you institute the new system and remove the annoyances of not being able to call a camp due to lairs or whatever. But still allow for scouts and rangers to have some of the few benifits of being able to call a camp.

Are you really that clueless?

Of course, it's not surprising that your in the CH forums trying to divert attention away from your own overpowered class.

Hiya!

Im not a creature handler person BUT, i use droids with storage modules to keep resources, deeds, clothing and other items (kinda like purses).

I have NO combat abilities. I have a Squall named Snuggles that hops around with me sometimes.... but i would never let anything happen to him.

Im never outside of a town or a city or my own home for very long. I purchase resources as opposed to mining them myself (even though im a master artisan and capable of surveying myself... its hard to do without some combat skills to keep me alive out there with all the evil butterfiles and frogs that would kill me).

Why am i going to have to wait 30 seconds in the middle of town or in some scout's camp to call out a purse (droid) or a cuddly animal (squall)? How am i exploiting now? What are you trying to fix or prevent? I cant store or call a pet after something has tried to kill me for over a minute now anyway.

Its really nice that if my speeder stores itself, ill be able to call another one without the use of a camp. Thats great, what a wonderful workaround to an existing bug. But even in my house, my decalred residence? Even in a city? No, that whole idea stinks worse than the banthas people arent (notice i said arent) going to be ridng around.

the reason for a 30second timer in the wild is that you cant pull a vehicle and just scoot off. if you want your vehicle out and ready that is a different story and you are stuck to that general area. being able to just whip a vehicle out at will would diminish the game.

personally i dont mind a 30-sec timer if i dont have to lug friggen tents around. i would prefer a 15 second timer or no timer. but i know why there is a timer and i wont puch for that. i am looking forward to this since i can now use vehicles and mounts as needed without having to cart crates of tents around.

Why do all those justifying calling pets refer back to vehicles? Vehicles are not Pets. The game makes a very clear distinction between the two. The game knows what class object they are; there's no need for them to be lumped into one. The class is already being checked when you call, otherwise it wouldn't let you call a vehicle and a pet at the same time. 3 lines of code, big whup.

And for the person saying it's only a 4 sec. difference? I can craft a dozen camps while sitting in another time-sink, waiting for a shuttle.

But the real reality is that if the pets didn't get stuck, autostore, and run away, I'd have my pet out all the time. So if those bugs get fixed, the 30 second rule would only be an occasional nuisance.

While the 30 second rule will initally only really bother Creature Handlers. Eventually it will lead to those creature handlers to walk around with their pets out everywhere so have fun with the lag in Coronet with 4-5 Rancor's and host of smaller pets running around. Then after this happens for a week or so and servers are being overloaded constantly all of a sudden we will see a new patch where creature handlers won't be able to have their pets enter towns. So lets save everyone lots of frustration and remove the 30 second timer before it causes more problems.

LOL here I am reading this thread in it's entirety, rage seething at the complete lack of concern or mention of our existing problems in the latest publish notes. Banthas and Cu Pas, be still my heart.

Why then LOL? Because CH is so borked as a combat profession now I am seriously considering getting another account so that I could be more effective in PvE and the occasional guild wars. Tera Kasi, already overpowered, gets another perk, added melee damage against ranged. Sounds good to me.

Suddenly it occurred to me that this might be the answer as to why the continuing nerfing of CH. The Devs have made it so difficult to get MCH now that I ( and I assume many others) are really reluctant to give up the profession. What then can we do. Open a new account of course. How insidious is this conspiracy that I would actually be giving serious consideration to giving our dear friends at Sony an additional $50 + $15/month after the hosing they have given us.

I must be on the edge of insanity or wait, who are those people on the grassy knoll.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

Don't bother fighting with Denezib look at his past posts, He basically likes to cause trouble for troubles sake.

He has no idea about our profession, about how things where or how they are.

He can pull out a whopping cl 27 pet and it works great!! good. He also crafts his own camps,

Well, I can't entirely agree with you here, a Jedi has a tef for what 5 minutes, if you see them far out while they are dropping a camp of enraged rancors solo on Dath, then you suddenly call your pair of AT-ST's, wait the 30 seconds for him tofinish killing the pair of rancors, and drop the lair, then you send in your pair of AT-ST's...and low and behold you have the same result. a pair of walking turrets who can chew through his compostie armor. Not to mention if you are a rifleman with a niceweapon doingstun damage.

I'dreallylike to hear a good reason for this. Hopefully we can get this changed before the publish, there is still time. Other than trying to make CH's even less of a PVP profession, this makes no sense. They are taking out the act of mkaning a camp, but keeping the delay, thus the aggrevation, that having to make a camp causes.

There is no 30 second timer now, in fact no timer at all if you call out a creature pet, a droid, a faction pet, or a vehicle in a metropolitan area.

What are the benefits you speak of? Specify them. Explain how, with the current situation in metropolitian areas, there is some sort of pressing need for a 30 second delay from time to call to the pet or vehicle materializing in the world. Provide examples.

You are not doing this. You are making assertions with no concrete examples to back them up.

Your arguments are as unconvincing as those of Thunderheart.

This is lame. You're not unintelligent, DeneziB. You can do better than repeat the platitudes of Thunderheart.

Boyo, as one MBE to another, take a hike. You're exhibiting every trait that Creature Handlers detest about BE's, top of the list being you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about but want to condescendingly lecture them regardless.

These guys are peeved, and have every right to be.
