Correct. That was one and there were others. You could store pets right before they died and also do things like get into a duel with someone and then whip out a pet and other "suprise!" poke-pet maneuvers.
The other part of this equation is that camps have changed a lot since their original design as well - - that was why Holo thought it would be a good idea to lift the restrictions.
As part of the camp changes, we'll see these in Publish 7. I can't wait
I hate to say this TH, but do you realise how this makes you sound? You have 2 'novice scout' facing off for a duel. Both are carrying republic blasters and wearing basic clothing. Now,the one that is actually a master ranger/rifleman can, witha single button press as soon as the duel is accepted, instantly don9 pieces of composite armor and a skill-enhanced shirt, equip an T21 and even open their attack sequence. But the other, who is actually a master CH, has to wait 30 seconds before his pet arrives?? What is the point? Seriously. If the pet calling delay is there to prevent 'griefing' like this (and lets face it, if you accept a duel at face value you should expect to get killed, its dumb) then please add in a delay for changing armor/clothes and equipping weapons.
The store thing no-one has an issue with unless they are basically clueless about game balance and mechanics, but the 30 second calling thing is just utterly ridiculous.
Oh, and if you use the term 'poke-pet' (or anything like it) once more then I think you are going to lose what little credibility you have left here. You may not realise it but many CH see you as having a personal agenda against the profession and using inflammatory terms does not help your case. Personally, I see you take one step forward and two back each time you address the CH community - its clear that you are not at all familiar with the realities of being a CH in game and until some bridges are mended your normal 'having fun with the forums' way of talking is just aggravating people.
There is a big difference between figiting a single opponent (and being "suprised" about who they are) and suddenly finding yoursel fightingthreeopponents insteead of one.

Only if you're a n00b who doesn't realize that the pets are trivia; you go after the CH, incap him, and then deal with the pets. Once the master is out, the threat is over. Given that creatures are in the game to absorb damage, not deal it out, and once the master is dead the pets become inert or you can run away from them, this is not an issue.
OTOH, when that "novice medic" turns into a fully armed master pistoleer, you have a serious problem on your hands.

NO!
You cannot store pets right before they die! If they're in combat, you can't store themuntil 60 seconds AFTER they're out of combat.
TH, this is simply NOT TRUE.
The game mechanics as they exist RIGHT NOW do not allow this, camp calling restriction or no camp calling restriction.
If there is an exploit that some players have discovered to get around the existing restriction, then fix that exploit, don't punish everyone else!
Furthermore, when are you going to nerf the "novice artisans" who hit a macro and suddenly, in a duel, are transformed into fully armored TKMs? If the concern of the insta-poke is so great, why not the insta-karate-kid, or the insta-commando, or the insta-master carbineer?
TH, are you in the business of digging yourself into a deeper credibility hole? Do you have dreams of being Scott McClellan or something?

Lester,
Then why is there this additional 30 second timer being added, if the griefing concern is a thing of the past?
This is the problem with what TH is talking about.
There is already a safeguard.
Why is another one needed?
/bump
Agood question here

yes, but do you realize that these griefs are no longer possible, even without camps?
there's no need for another timer in addition the storing timer.
- pets don't store in combat (or 1 minute after combat).
- pets can't be called in combat (not surprises for anyone once combat starts).
- pets don't insta-heal in the datapad anymore.
- etc
If therewere any exploits still possible, you'd know itby nowbecause we've always been able to call pets "at will" in the city.
sowhy do we need a delay timer to call them without a camp?

The point TH was making was that you used to be able to, and that ability haunted us with the legacy of 'must call from camp'.
Heck, the more disturbing one was sit in a camp, send in a pet. When it dies/incaps, wait, put it back in the pad, send in a new pet. Back in the day, pets by themselves caused no aggro, so the camp wouldn't close (and the victim wouldn't charge the pet owner)... Things like this caused imbalances that stuck in the mind well past when the fixes went in, much like other systems where a short term fix stayed in (and caused trouble) after a long term fix was posted. Prime example? '15% chance of success to tame to get the radial to tame... and if you have a pet in your datapad, you can only call it out if you have that 15% chance to tame the wild version'. This was made obsolete with the call/control changes, at least as far as the official explanation of it going in to prevent novices from calling pre-tamed rancors and the like, or just hammering away at a high cl (but no ferocity/deathblow) critter like giant sand beetles (and is still obsolete with the current system) but hung around anyway.
So those old problems, long ago fixed, are no longer a barrier to removing camps. The (new) delay timers that are going in when camps go away are there as a hedge against future abuse, and I can't imagine why CHs (or any of the other affected 'pet' users) would be complaining. As pointed out, you already can't call in combat, and already can't store directly after combat... so why is it a problem that there's a short delay between call and arrival if you can call them almost anywhere?
