I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet so I will,

I'm fairly shure the "Swift Charging Bol" is rare. Out of everyone I've talked to i'm the only one of my friends that has seen one. Upon the examine of it, it showed up as tameable.

Haven't heard of it or seen it either. Maybe its something rare or something that comes out of a lair when its nearly destroyed like feral gurks do.

swift charging bols are another in a long line of boss animals that say tamable: yes, but never will spawn a baby on account of being flagged boss creatures(which are overridden to never spawn babies regardless of tamable status). including but not limited to the terrible quenker, razor cat eviscerator, sharnaff reckless ravager, and carrion spat corpsereaver.

not to mention many static-spawn-exclusive animals such as dark klikniks, those bugs in the beetle cave on tatooine, and other such locations.

Bosses being overriden to never spawn babiesseems likeconjecture... there has been no such statement from the Devs. We have been explicitly told that anything saying "Tamable: Yes" does have a non-zero chance of spawning a baby. It might be rare, very rare, or "impossibly rare" (per TH's statement from last year)... but "Tamable: Yes" is supposedly working.

btw tivo, add Massive Gnorts to the list of extincts, if you could. i remember a few people on sunrunner owning them a whiles back, and they aren't tamable nowadays.

nobody really tames gnorts anyway since they are a newb spawn, you can get a gnort with much better stats with a BE.

let's not forget what game we're talking about, either. besides, because TH says one thing doesn't necessarily make it a whole-truth. look at the 19 question fiasco for example. 19 questions asked to get 19 dodgy semi-answers. if in fact you could even call them answers.everyone was hyped up and hoping they would finally get some answer to their realistic questions, and TH wouldn't even be reasonable with them, to the point of completely evading many of the questions entirely in favor of rambling off into a tangent about something else remotely related to their profession.

allow me to enlighten you with a hypothetical, example question that bears many common signs of how the 19 questions posts went.

"TH, will we ever be given a new type of weapon for our class? we only have two damage types and both of them are higly resisted to by mobs, which makes it hard to take them down without a group."

"well, i don't want to say mobs are tough, but they certainly have gotten smarter since the last time i've seen them operate, and would certainly indicate why you might be having trouble with them. that's not necessarily to say that it's because of damage output, but they have been tweaked a little to give it more of a challenge to players. in closing, perhaps you should consider challenging different mobs."

but seriously, if the tamable: yes mod was working fully as it seemed, then we'd have new frenzied graul babies. and there is no reason within any semblance of common sense that they should be set as a rare animal if they actually were set to tamable on purpose. plenty of people still have them, and thus would defeat the entire purpose.

let's alsonot forget the case of dark klikniks, frenzied kahmurra, and any other animal that appears at static spawns only, but shows tamable: yes. they will NEVER spawn babies, because static spawn rules override the possibility of babies appearing. even if there's a possibility for a baby to spawn, doesn't mean they can't be overridden by higher-prioirity commands. thus i am assuming that boss spawn coding can and is overriding any possibility that they can spawn as babies. else we'd have SOME report of at least one out of the dozen or so boss-only animals with tamable: yes, spawning a baby.

especially becausea good portionof those bosses are located on corellia, a heavily-populated world where a lot of newbies as well as veteran players happen to operate. even with as low a set of odds as they could be programmed with, by now something would have shown up.

addition: and you didn't even know motley kaadus and plodding falumpasets were extinct previously vert, upon reading back into the posts again. which isn't to imply that i'm more confident that i'm right, so much as it leads me to believe that i do have a valid point here, and something is going on behind the scenes.

i think some of us are looking past theblatantfact here.

there is a difference between hope and the obvious truth. sorry, but some creatures that say tamable: yes do not spawn babies, despite what the Devs have us believe. and nothing they have done in 5 months shows otherwise. though you are all welcome to believe what you will

once again, you managed to completely miss the point.

giant peko pekos are on the list for the very same reason massive gnorts should be. usefulness is NOT the reason they're there.

by your logic there should be no rare listing at all, since BEs can make much better of everything.

I would take piket longhorn babies off the list of "almost rares". I came across 5 today doing piket longhorn missions to grind out CH. I had no room left in my pad to tame one, so I just headshot 3'd it to oblivion each spawn.
