Thread: A Guide to the New Pet System (Included Abilites, XP Listings, & How To's)
Thinking about it, do we even know if the /trainPet command is only granted at Novice? Could a former Handler teach non-handler pets their learned specials if they do keep them?
I have a sneaky felling that you can get any special off of any baby and the only difference is that higherlevel babies give you higher level specials. I tamed a level 2 rill and got defensive stance off it and a level 11 scyk and got staggered attack. Both of the were L1. Both of these specials were previously listed on other animals. I have to admit the special rate appeared to be better than 7 to 1 as I found the two specials in about 10 tames or less.
I also have to agree that leveling the babies up is going to be a pain. You either keep it at it's level without grouping and go through a lot of stims saving it or you group it with you and go hunt high level creatures. Now we now why us CHs got the aggro against us! To keep our low level pets from being killed so quickly.
All in all, if everything works right I think it will be a good thing. Looks like I can teach my BE creatures my wild creatures specials. Making them even better. Can't wait to find out for sure.

Now, as a master ch - do I have to lose every damn pet in my datapad so I can tame and train endless supplies of new ones for their abilities? Master ch since live and I have to start again? Why do they do this to us?

The list that you are refering to does not mean that the ability is exclusive to that type of creature only. It means that its the ability that will show up most often on that creature type.
The Level of the Ability, and the Ability do appear to be completely randomized, with the exception of the above mentioned. CL1 - CL30 pets appear to be most likely to have L1 Abilities. CL25 - CL65 pets are mostly likely to have L2 Abilities. L3 Abilites appear to be 'rare', but are most likely to be found on CL60 - CL70 pets.
Drashk,
Unclear what you mean here.
Approximately 25% of the time, when using this method, you will gain CH XP that is equal to the XP that you would gain if you were the same CL as your pets, plus your normal XP. This means that in the above mentioned kaadu female hunting pack, approximately 25% of the time, you will gain 1 CH XP and 600 (this number is only an example and not the actual amount of XP that you would gain.) CH XP. When this occurs, you will lose all /harvest and /loot rights to that kill.

Drashk, you have Marring Storm (L1) as adding 10% health. Should that be damage instead? It looks good otherwise.
Doh....Fixed.

This may or may not have made it to Live, so its hard to say if this was a TC-Bria issue or not. Basically, its part of the same grouping XP issue that has been reportedhere and there.
Also did not see any mention of the /pet commands (e.g. /petKnockdown) . Are these working? I don't remember them doing anything but giving me messages saying I am not allowed to do that (or something like that).
The commands appear to be nothing more then command line ways of telling your pet, with that ability, to use it on a target.
IE - /petK would activate the KD Ability, if your pet possesses it.

I guess thatcouldbe cool. You can train a set of pets with individual commands and use them individually or all together.
The words in yellow just confuse me. I am maxed out on CH xp, and was on TC-Bria, so I did not experience this first hand. I am guessing that 25% of the time you get 1 xp instead of 600 xp. But the way you have it worded it almost reads like you get the 1xp and then the 600 xp. Not being nitpicky but just saying I am confused.

As written is actually correct. If the bug made it to Live, approximately 25% of the time, you will gain 1 CH XP, like you are supposed to, and then X CH XP appropriate to the pet CL vs the mob CL.
This issue may also be limited even more to only using 1 low level pet.
New entries in italics.
Planet / Creature / Level / Ability Found / Number of times entry found (if not one)
Naboo / Fambaa / L22 / Beastly Constitution (L1) / 2
Naboo / Peko Peko / L14 / Combat Agility (L1)
Naboo / Flewt / L4 / Fleet Footed (L1)
Naboo / Motley Kaadu / L10 / Staggering Attack (L1)
Naboo / Ikopi / L4 / Guarded Stance (L1) / 2
Extra note: I had my first occurance on taming attempt 2, then nothing for nearly 20 more tames. It's easy to get discouraged, but overall the averages do include ( after that empty run, I had three new abilities in three tames ).
I knew that I had forgotten those 2.
