Kharrissa :

Valid point on the faction pets. I would say there is valid arguement to make the organic faction pets the same as CH/BE pets, but the inorganic pets should stay as they are. With this enhancement to the organic faction pets though they would need to have the same drawbacks - meaning one week of play-time til full potential.

You didn't address any of the other points that make pets and weapons/armor different. Perhaps you needed more time.

I guess I do need more time. I see pets and weapons as very different, and I do not really see how the difference is relevant to the point that I am making.

Part of the problem with this whole thing is that some people see permadeath as another "nerf." I am failing to see how this is a nerf at all. To me, a nerf is something that makes me significantly weaker. Permadeath is not going to make me significantly weaker.

Maybe some of you who think that it will make you significantly weaker can explain that to me.

With the market on Armor, Weapons, and Artisan Items constantly in flux where items must be replaced when they get old and used up this ensures that the need for these items remains high. What happens to the market of pets? The way it is going now wouldn't the demand drop off considerably over time if there is no need to refresh the current population of pets in the game? Are there any systems in place or in the works that will ensure the future of CH and BE similar to that of the Armorsmith or Weaponsmith?

Just a concern i have.

Man do us all a favor and go back to your rifleman , commando BE, or whatever board is you crawled out of.

Sorry for my flamy like words but you people make me so sick. There is always going to be new MCh and such there is no need for a decay system. There are other ways for BE to get money lots of money stims, ect. If you expect me to pay 100k per pet every month of decay than you will have no customers. To me this is just another post calling for a nerf to further your own self gain. How rude

How would this be a nerf???? Ok let me list why it would be a nerf...

1) BE pets cost hundred of thousands of credits. For a worthwhile one that is. Weapons cost 5k. If i have to replace a 100k pet every 2 weeks than I might as well drop the profession or look for rares beacause it is not going to happen.

2) Pets take 7 days yes 7 DAYS to grow to be worthwhile in combat. So once a pet is permadeath we have to wait a whole 7 days to do any sort of combat again ( for those who CH is the only way of doing dmg )

3) Wild pets take a good amount of searching and luck to find.I am not going to have my rare that I found after weeks of endless searching taken away just so a BE can sell a few more pets.

4) CH has alreadybeen"damned"... its bugged, its only good at master level, the pathfinding postcrackdown is FUBAR... what do we do? Anyone wanna makea bet on how many weeks it will take for pathfinding AND range attack use special attack (3 months of brokeness) to be fixed?

5) BE can make loads and I mean LOADS of cash off stims, food addtives and other stuff.

There is no need for a peramdeath system, CH is already a time sink, a cash sink, and a garbled piece of code. A further cash sink and time sink is not nessesary.

PLEASE for the survival of this profession stop crying nerf and go sell stims... dont destroy one profession in order to get more moola. Is it that hard to ask?

Apparently, it is too much to ask. You raise several interesting points, none of which address the central issue.

Why would you have to replace a valuable pet every two weeks?

A pet takes several days to grow to full maturity. What does that have to do with the price of eggs? Are you saying that you only have one pet?

It is quite an accomplishment to find a rare. Agreed. You are making my point for me.

I am not a BE and I do not sell stims. So, your response might be appropriate for BEs, but how does it relate to me?

What I am getting is a hysterical response. You want to call anything that you disagree with a "nerf" because you have learned that cheap appeals to emotion work all too well here.

For those of you have pointed out that there are several things that should be fixed first, fine, I have already agreed with that.

Department of Redundancy Department: I am in this game for the long haul and I am patient. I will be here long after some of you have moved on to Care Bears Online or whatever your next destination is.

Blod, thanks for your input. I particularly like it that you are trying to be logical and that you skipped the name calling.

Let me paraphrase what you said: "I do not want permadeath."

Fine. You are entitled to your opinion. I would say that (at this point) many more people agree with you than agree with me.

I also note that you did not use the word "nerf" in your message. Unlike some others in this thread, you seem to be focused on what the actual issues are, instead of going for the cheap sensationalism.

Stealing from my other post on the status of CH in SWG currently:

-economy ---- I can't say that there is no economy, on a any given day though my chances of selling are can be 0-200k. I find that my tactics in selling revolve around selling mainly to Novice CH's range 12+, who can't buy a bio'd pet (cost), and are

You know when they got rid of the general forums, I thought we were rid of the nerf whiners. Lately, it seems that all the littlesweetheartsare back again with the same old songs. Of course,a certain SoE official referring to the 'poke..' term in a recent post just gave them the boost they needed to return to 'whack-a-CH' mode.

Well, for me at least, if permadeath was introduced and the power of the pets were to remain, i think i would probably sit on it in hope that things will change (yes i know, dream on right?) then probably give up the class and spend the skill pts into something morepractical like say pistoleer/smuggler to go with my TKM which will smack mostMCH creaturesdown in a blink of an eye.

Why? my pets cap all the time and i dont really want to log on each timeand have to maintain the class by going out to get a new creaturebecause i didbattle the night before. as it is currently, i dont even use my pets most of the time because they dont give me a siginificant logical advantage for most PvE mobs except when it comes to say the Nightsister stronghold on dathomir. Only then do they serve as a delay and a means for me to buy time to escape when it gets too hot for me or my group mates.

To give you an example on this, if i were to send out my pet against a group of enraged rancors, i cannot leave my pet to tank alone for me. while i can perfectly handle an enraged rancor on my own, my pet cant so i have to make sure im hitting the target that i told him to go after. Is this efficient? not really. Im way better off going in there, KD/Warcry, repeat and unarmed 2 & 3. In fact i clear a nest this way more efficiently without my pet.

When does a pet useful for me now? Sad to say but on a practical front, i use it as bait to lure nightsisters out or keep them preoccupied while my groupmates and myselfleverage to get in more hits, escape etc. My pet, needless to say, caps and gets DBed always. In the case of permadeath, i would have to go spend a few hours tamining and training tomorrow for todays fun with the nightsisters with friends, while they, run another raid. On the same front, i have to wait for them to grow. Is this fun? maybe for some but not for me at least.

To be honest, If on the flipside, permadeath was introduced and the power of creatures was upped to the stats of old where a webmaster would have medium armor etc and more, then sure. I believe i couldcome to accept the trade off.in fact, i would say that the stats should be even be a bit betterthen that so while the possibilty to permantly kill a creature of an MCH is there, it should be a challenge to do so. Otherwise, if with current stats permadeath was introduced, asking me to tank my pet for whoever/whatever in the group would be a red carpet invitation for a quick smack to the mouth

This is of course my PoV as a player who looks at it from a practical use stand point. If i was collecting, my pets will only see light of day in the privacy of home or unless i was sure of its safety.

BINGO.

only BE's would want this - not CH's (except CH's who are BE's).

2 points:

1- this is NOT a change.

This is some guy posting a Pro-BE comment on the CH forum (just like the BH's do on the Jedi forum).

If I go to another profession forum and suggest something out of interest of another profession, then I'd be called a "troll" - that's all this is.

There is a system in place for vitality.

We've been down this road before.

The devs have already spoken on this issue.

It's been addressed, it's been fixed, it's been tweaked, it doesn't need to change.

2 - I'm sick and tired of getting nerfed for every other profession.

When are the other professions in this game going to be satisfied with the level of nerfage to the CH profession?

Cavie, I'm a CH and a BE. I'm not "some guy"unrelated or adversarial, coming over to troll your board. As far as I know, there aren't and Jedi/BH combos out there--bad comparison. There are plenty of CH/BEs that have an interest in both forums. Since the two professions are interdependent, it's common sense to expect BEs to post here from time to time and for CHs to post on the BE threads. Especially from people who play both.

This is an economy issue. If you really think replacing a heavily-used creature every 3-4 months will ruin the enjoyment of the game for you, push you over the edge to ToonTown Online, then there are other issues at work. EVERY profession should be initiating a dialogue about ways to make their work cyclical; this is a persistent universe, and if you don't have a death/renewal cycle, things get very stagnant very fast. Better to initiate and anticipate--attempt some control over it--than have a relatively unconcerned 3rd party do it for us (think devs).

My goal here isn't "nerfing" your (and my) profession. My goal is to suggest some common-sense, practical ideas that someone somewhere might read and take a speck of inspiration from. If you bothered to read the rest of my post (I imagine you did), you should very clearly see that I think there are some common sense things that need to be ADDED to the CH profession, especially in terms of animal training/commands. When I suggest that we CHs should have the ability to command our creatures to attack certain parts of the body, do you think that's a nerf? I hope not. I hope you see it as a common-sense addition that would make the game more interesting and fun without unbalancing it.

Ok, as long as you have to pay 6k to get to the most dangerous planet in the galaxy and kill a score of some of the nastiest creatures in the game to get that blaster and combat armor. Oh, it will only take a few days and a few k woth of stims. When you finally get the equipment you have to wait a week before it is really usable. It is very unreliable it drops from you hand without you noticing it and just goes away when you need it most. Did I say you need a camp to equip it? You see you can not ride a vehicle with it. Oh, and if you want to change to the other weapon you got this way you are out of luck. Oh, and when you are done with that lair, you have to spend 20 minutes reloading your weapon with bullets that cost thousands per box? You put up with all this and then that gun that did damage of 300 now only does three when it works and the armor just disappears all the time. Some newb can take you out with a DLT20 rifle and a NPC equipped identical to you will whip your but every time.

Great points. Getting a baby pet from the wild is an expensive, dangerous, time-consuming proposition. Is it stubborness or bitterness or stinginess that keeps you from finding a BE on your homeworld to build you what you're looking for? Faster, easier, and probably not much more expensive than what you're describing.

Didn't I read somewhere that pets will be callable (with some interesting limitations) anywhere with Pub 7?
