I too, am at a loss for words.

It's simply unbeleivable to me to hear people bring this up again after all the "bloody murder" that took place when this isssue was settled a long time ago.

there there, what can you do eh? there was nothing that could be done then. all we can do is sit back and watch. if anyone thought that the CH community is responsible for lag, heh, wait till the droid invasion hits. you wanna see lag? lol. every race and his pet will have a droid.

This depends on if the rares stay almost impossible to get and whether it takes 200K to get a good BE pet. Make the pets easier to get and then have them take more wear and tare. Otherwise, we will be even more a slave to making BEs rich and CHs forever running missions just to be able to play.

I think its really a matter of what kind of MCH you are. a collector who enjoys finally adding a new rare to his/her stable and looking over them with great pride or one who sees the practical side of it that uses them for support in battle and money mission making. perhaps a bit of both?

I too think that rare babies should appear more frequently but for me i have a mix of wild and BE pets. they arent that ex to be honest, but then again ive not paid 200k for a pet. Am not sure what the economy is like on your server but there are BE prices which float above 100k and under 150k. Sometimes even less. at most itis about 4 missions on dathomir. I dont know what your template is like but for me as a TKM/MCH, it doesnt take very long to finish. definately alot less time compared to raiding nest after nest after nest in hopes that it'll spring a rare baby that has got worthy stats.

On the flip side, am using Gaping spider hunters and recluse. have 8 of them which i rotate. yeah they arent the best but they are decent in damage and defense. they get the job donewhen it comes to PvEand, they arent hard to find and tame. WHen their vit drops to 90, i replace with a new hunter. this normally occurs every 3 weeks to a mth? replacing 2-3 at a time.

I'm talking about being reasonable. I'm talking about looking at how long the average blaster or combat armor lasts and reaching a system that approximates that. A decent creature should last three or four months before needing to be replaced. Nothing too fast, but certainly faster than the vitality rate right now.

Ok, as long as you have to pay 6k to get to the most dangerous planet in the galaxy and kill a score of some of the nastiest creatures in the game to get that blaster and combat armor. Oh, it will only take a few days and a few k woth of stims. When you finally get the equipment you have to wait a week before it is really usable. It is very unreliable it drops from you hand without you noticing it and just goes away when you need it most. Did I say you need a camp to equip it? You see you can not ride a vehicle with it. Oh, and if you want to change to the other weapon you got this way you are out of luck. Oh, and when you are done with that lair, you have to spend 20 minutes reloading your weapon with bullets that cost thousands per box? You put up with all this and then that gun that did damage of 300 now only does three when it works and the armor just disappears all the time. Some newb can take you out with a DLT20 rifle and a NPC equipped identical to you will whip your but every time.

That is quite an interesting point that i had not realised before! I imagine i would be a lot more miffed about my pistol or armour degenerating or failing if i had to find the raw materials for it and craft it each time it needed replacing! rather than just buying a job lot when i find em , throwing the old one away and taking another from the box

Good point , well made

Like many other issues in the game, it is a moving target, and it wasNOT settled long ago. There was a design decision, and there will be a constant re-evaluation of the decision.

That is the nature of evolving online games.

You WANT our pets to die/need replacing? Sure, what the heck, why not. While we're at it, might as well make it so that when people/toons (your character?) die 3-4 times, you need to delete it and start a new one. I'm an MCH, I STILL tame wild babies and release if I find something better. Do I use them in combat? yep, do I use my BE pets that I've paid an arm/leg for in combat? yep. So, that all said (i'm rambling I know, get over it), yes, make our pets need replacing, let the BE's get more money for replacing them, and then make it so that EVERYONE has to create a new toon because their last one died one to many times. What's the difference? Catch/buy new pets - reroll/recreate your toon.

"Starting to see something familiar here?"

The only thing I am seeing that is familiar here is that we have a legitimate disagreement on what is desirable.

Some people (like Windsplitter) layout a logical argument about why he is right and I am wrong.

Other people (you know who you are) feel the need to supplement their argument with cheap shots.

And let me point out once again (Department of Redundancy Department) that this issue was NOT solved months ago. There was a design decision months ago, and the developers have not yet decided to change that decision. Maybe they never will. But there is no 100% guarantee that they never will (even if they said they never will).

Obviously, there is a huge difference. And what's more, we both know that you know there is a difference.

You are using hyperbole to make a point. I can respect that. But it does not make me agree with you.

Aaaah finally, someone that understands about seeing the point and not having to agree with it. Yes, I was using hyperbole intentionally. Just getting tired of people constantly shouting for nerfs. How abot FIXING things that ARE broke before asking to break something again? I'd love to see the 30 second timer go away/get fixed. I'd love to see the CH xp go up a LITTLE bit, not necessarily what it was before. I'd love to see my pets stop running away from mobs their level and under. I'd love my pets to stop autostoring, etc.....

Before we ask to have our pets "die", how about asking to have the other issues fixed first? Yes, I mastered CH in Oct of last year, I'm now having to drop it to finish Master Commando for holo-grind. As it is, I'm seriously considering not dropping MCH for Master Commando/holo-grind until they fix the xp issue, cause I WILL be back up to MCH. I just think that some things are totally ridiculous and decided to try hyperbole for a change.

This is an excellent point, and quite frankly, I am sick & tired of people (who are opposed to my views) constantly making good points.

I've seen that weapons/armor analogy used in relation to pets a number of times, but it falls flat on a number of points:

1) Weapons/Armor are useable the instant you buy them and then 100% of the time until it finally breaks, or is repaired.

Pets take a week to grow to full potential, and then have to either be healed constantly, or put back into the Datapad for a day to heal. Thus while pets may last a lot longer than weapons/armor if you did a total damage done/prevented; which one would come out ahead? I'm betting the current pet vitality is pretty darn close to weapon/armor decay when taking the total damage into consideration.

2) Weapons/Armor are much more versatile depending on the situation/encounter. It's a snap to switch to just the perfect weapon/armor combo for whatever situation comes up. Not to mention that said switch can be made at the speed of a Macro-key press even in combat.

Pets are pretty much Kinetic damage only. Sure they do some specials (when the command works), and some ranged damage (when the command works). But, the vast majority of pets are hitting for Kinetic damage only. If we want to swap out a pet we have to wait for 60 seconds after last combat (and sounds like 30 seconds before combat too unless they change that before Publish 7). Also, no changing during combat.

3) Pets are a living organism much like ourselves. Just like our characters enjoy a decay-free existence; so too do the pets enjoy a less-harsh level of decay. The balance is in the downtime. Just like our characters can be damaged and need healing, so too do the pets need healing or an extended downtime to be useable again. Perhaps if weapons/armor needed 3-5 stims per fight, or put away after just one fight then the analogy would seem more applicable.

4) CH's have to deal with the same costs of weapons/armor decay as everyone else. It's not like CH can just rely totally on the pets and have no need for weapons/armor ourselves.

For those reasons, as well as others I've most likely over-looked; Pets and Weapons/Armor just aren't even in the same basket; let alone the age-old cliche of apples-to-oranges.

heheh, essentially there is no real right or wrong. Whos to say really? For now they're just ouropinions on the class and we are all entitled to them.In the end, If the devs say(insert change)is law, like it or not we have to suck it up.

You're right, no class is 100% set in stone when it comes to an mmorpg. everything changes but nothing is truely lost. today we are uber, tomorrow we're better off trying to band together to perform group pet tricksso we canbeg for cash lol.

we just haveto play the class coswethink it suits us. For me at least, i believe that if im not having fun with the game, the option for me to leave is always there but the general concept of MMORPGS is that nothing is ever balanced and theres always something that needs fixing. And that applies to everyone. we're just another number andSWG is not to be all and end all of mmo's either

Pity D&D doesnt have an mmo with todays game engines. I for one would sign up for that in a heartbeat.

Some pets, you mean, Creature pets. What aboutfaction pets? Permadeath is ok for faction pets but not for creature pets? Are the details of faction pets and creature pets different? Yes, of course they are. But does that justify permadeath for only some pets?

This game needs permadeath for ALL pets.

As has already been pointed out, there are a lot of things regarding creature pets that need fixed first. Fine. I am in the game for the long haul and I am patient. You are going to hear from me about the need for permadeath tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year.
