Thread: upcoming changes
Carenzi makes terrible armor. He really only took it up to provide inexpensive costume armor for entertainers. I highly recommend Faint, Jmkar or Ackire.

Dancer and Musician XP gain will not be limited to the NPC and player-owned buildings which were formerly associated with Entertainer Healing XP. Inspirations will only be available in these locations (so far this has not changed & I don't expect it will). Venues are always needed. We are just becoming a little more independent of some of them.
/montyburns excellent...
This is what I wanted to hear. XP can be gained anywhere.
There goes the excuse the public, spamming AFK macro-bots had with healing XP. When we told them, "Go AFK macro in a private place with your little private group of friends," they always insisted they couldn't do this because they wouldn't be able to get healing XP.
Well, healing XP is going bye-bye and they can get knowledge XP anywhere. Group size is capped at 8 so it's not like they can even be in a big group anymore.
SO... they no longer have the slightest justification for AFKing in a public place. Not that they really did before, but this is much more clearly defined now. They will be CLEARLY being abusive now, once this change goes in -- since they could now 100% master the profession in a private house. The argument could thus be made (and trust me, oh trust me, I will make it over and over again until someone listens) that anyone who AFKs in a public cantina is now a griefer... since they could do their AFKing in private to exactly the same effect.

And I hope the FS grinders will have the decency to group up together somewhere privately.

To clarify my position on the combat alt thing:
Caer did not start out as an ent. She had novice so that she could dance socially for months. But TKM was always her thing, up front keeping the bad guys off the boys behind with their ranged weapons. This suited the red head down to the ground. She was a good and proficient tank and not scared to solo even enraged rancors on her own (although not always successfully). After a long term romance ended she took up Dancing, more seriously, on a whim and loved it. Through dancing she eventually met her wonderful husband, Safim and now he has returned to playing music and they both perform with Nebula.
However she kept a combat elite profession. When the rules of engagement where changed by Imperial Edict, she heard in advance through her links with Jabba that TKM would no longer be the joy it was and ahead of the enforced changes she took up Pikes. But being a hybrid, her HAM was just too low for serious combat. She is now considering other options, although dropping dancing is not one of them, Jabba requires her to dance for him regularly as Oola refuses to learn flourishes, or any other dance.
Her good friend Araiya traced her to this corner of the Universe, on Caer's advice she took up a full combat role in order to be more useful to Jabba and assist on the tough missions he hands out to SEA from time to time. With the CL of 80 and CH abilities, she is a cool tough blonde up to any challenge.
Sibie is an sweet, innocent young Zabrak, taken under Caer's wing. She does not have the abilities to use more than a basic weapon. Her parents brought her up to be more of a decoration and trophy bride than an independent woman. But she has managed to escape that life and is carving a role out for herself as an architect and helping to create the guild's mall.
If you have read all of that, thank you, and perhaps you see why some of us have more than one char. There are so many areas of the game to try and not all of us want to be constantly changing templates and it's not always feasible to do so if you are an RPer.

It's unclear. But there needs to be NONE. There cannot be down time between them or the previous poster is right -- cantinas will die.

I have seen the majority of the hate for Entertainers expressed here on the Forums and only very rarely In Game. The worst hate I have ever experienced In Game was when I was doing the Theater Manager Quest and was dancing near a Doctor's buff line at the Starport... and the Doctor in question told me to go back to the cantina "where I belong" and that if I wanted to make any kind of living, that I should get a "real profession." Most of the other people there though, took up for me and thought the Doctor was being rude. Personally, I must admit that I was a bit surprised and dismayed at the Doctor's attitude as most Doctors I have met In Game were nice people who had no problem with me performing near their buff lines (many of them even gave me Quickness buffs for free). I suppose though, that every profession must have its bad apples.

You know for the life of me I have never felt like I was ever hated, I honestly have been treated very well by almost everyone. Except other entertainers.
The only time I felt unwelcome was when I refused to join some groups so I may enjoy playing bandflos and a varrity of songs.
The people I have seen complain about battle fatigue are the same ones that complained about Dr. buffs and when Solo missions were changed and on and on. They will never be pleased.

In general SOE's documentation of updates and changes, especially the CU, has SUCKED.
They need to fix that. Documentation should be the FIRST order of business, not the last. 99% of the major CU frustrations people experienced the first couple of weeks could have been allviated by putting out a new manual.
