The problem with that line of thinking, Ty, is that once you've gotten one, are you really going to risk it getting ganked in pvp?
Pets in PvP are a *really* bad idea. They go down so hard and fast that it's not funny. Plus, people just love deathblowing pets, so don't think they wouldn't hesitate to gleefully kill something as rare as a GPS, just to teach you a lesson.
That's precisely why I don't pvp - I'm terrified that my pets will be killed. My two favorite pets are also both extremely valuable - a Plains Hunter and Swamp Stalker - and I'm so scared of them getting wasted that I can't even pull them out in the cities anymore, for fear of a stormtrooper stopping me to search for contraband, then getting rebel teffed and having the whole world rip apart my two pets.
Until pet vitality is changed or dropped, I won't be using pets in pvp. That's all there is to it.
Personally, if you are ever diligent enough of just lucky enough to nab a GPS Baby, I wouldn't use it in either PvP or PvE. Any risk is still a risk.
The GPS is a beautiful Creature, but certainly not Uber by any means. Strut your prize around town if you wish but leave the tanking and the incapping to the BE pets.
As for traveling, I used a Landspeeder to find mine. the X34 Landspeeder is just fast enough to cover good ground, but just slow enough to allow spawns to occur before going off your radar. But if you enjoy the scenery than I'd suggest perhaps a Mount instead.
I will have to agree with Nicosa, the GSP is very hard to find. I'm on week 3 of my search for one, and so far I have found only one adult spawn. I foolishly dismounted my landspeeder and tried to take it on without my pets.
I was dead in 10 seconds.
I came back, killed two more, and that's all the spawn the area would give up. It was curiously very close to waypoint 0,0 on the Corellian map.
Since that time, I have searched high and low, and found none.
They are the size of a Greater Sludge Panther, but with the coloring of a Crimson Razorcat. They have an 11K HAM and are extremely deadly. The 2nd one I killed agroed on me before I got my pets to jump on it, and even though there was a rancor on its butt, it would NOT stop until it incapped me.
They are also very resistant to blaster fire. This would make them invaluable pets for PvP.
I have to hand it to the devs on this one, they really created something rare and worth the cost of admission to obtain. Hunting for a GPS is like a quest, one that will hopefully be rewarding once I've caught one.
I always wanted a super-greater sludge panther, and thought it would be neat if the BEs could create one. But this is much better. An animal of high ferocity and resistance. The searches are very frustrating and take hours. And to confirm what Nicosa said, Rangers can NOT find them.
The only spawn I found so far was really funny. I heard a familiar gsp-like growl, and there it was, riding my rear end. IOW, I didn't even see it coming when I found it.
If you're going to ride around looking for one, I highly recommend the X-34. They go slow enough to where you catch spawns that would not generate fast enough riding on a speederbike or swoop.
Good luck, to all of you that are hunting for one, and please wish me luck on finding mine!

I want to keep this bumped... I'm having a helluva time finding even an adult, much less a baby.
All the fresh input is much appreciated hehe ![]()
