Creature Handler Archive
Thread: If Jedi are gonna complain about drop rates, so am I...
People weren't satisifed with the drop rates of loot kit items and the drops were increased. People can obtain the more rare items in the game WITHOUT spending MONTHS AND MONTHS. Why do Creature Handlers have to spend ungodly amounts of time at having the off-hand chances of obtaining something. It's wrong and needs to be changed. Camping doesn't equal fun.
But who am I kidding. Now that you are getting negative feedback, you will forget this thread even exists.
(plus another thing that needs to be fixed is the Wookiee taming bonus. All MCH's have a max CL of 70, then all MCH's Wookiee or no should be able to tame CL 70 or under)

What exactly is an accepable level of rarity to you, Vert? Have you spent time looking for rares? If not, how can you understand our viewpoint? If you have already found what you were looking for (given how much time you spent) then that tells me you are satisified because you have already gotten what you want.
This is an ad hominem attack. If I haven't been searching for rares, I'm wrong because I'm ignorant. If I've searched and been successful, I'm wrong because I'm blinded by self-interest.
I don't rely on personal experience (though it does factor in). My recommendations are based on the reading I get from the community. That reading tells me that people view these "insanely difficult rares" as a challenge to be overcome.
Again, these aren't all that great stat-wise. The insane rarity is why people want them. There are rancors, GSP-type cats, etc that are easier to acquire. What would be served by also making these particular creatures easier?

Ok look this is getting old
1. Whats the point of uping the stats on creatures, some of witch cant even be found, or still dont spawn or are broken??!?!
Cant be found, on any server: Bull ranc
Doesnt spawn anymore; Merek king/Queen, Frenzied Graul, BarkMite Burrorer Queen, Bloodseekr queen, Kilcknik Queen
Broken: Malignant squill, ya i love fighting it and have it despawn on me in mid combat...
All the stats, exept maybe the fg are minimum to average now compraed to Bio pets
Second; Its not the challenge of mindless grinding of layers i had in mind for master only pets.
People go after them them BECAUSE they are the master pets, lev 50+ thats the reason
If squall, jax , or vir vir or worts, rats were considered insanely rare you think all the ch would go after them?!?!? NO peopkle go after these beast because they are the end content of baby taming for a master ch...only problem is, they either dont spawn, are broken, or simply have ridiculous spawn rates.
Agreed. Mindlessly grinding lairs is not a challenge. It's a boring mindless grind. Just like hologrinding. That's what this is for CH's, it's the hologrind. Except there is no guarantee here. You could spend forever looking and not find anything. Atleast hologrinding led to an inevitable end. Grinding lairs doesn't.
They need to be made less rare, plain and simple. Why? Because nothing else in this game is as rare. And nothing in this game requires so much time and effort, muchless time and effort that may or may not pay off. It needs to change...
- we're not getting new pets
- no new mounts
- no raise in stats or increase in max lvl
So where the hell does that leave us? Searching for rares,But once we catch these rares What next? Most agree, what happens CH related once you capture the rares? Nowhere w/ nothing to do other than hunt, and given the way CH is, we can't hunt w/out another combat profession in our template.
- They look unique and interesting
- Viable in Combat
Suggestions:
For the unique/rarity issue:
If rares are going to be rares give them a reason to be. As little as changing the art, design, size or color would make it more valid for having such a pet and having to do such a quest. Not changing stats so CH is not going to become "uber." Add a horn or wing or something interestingly badass. I mean you deserve it right? Add some visual to the rareness of the pet to make it stand out and be awesome. Like add some shine, new animation, new sounds, anything that would make the owner proud to flaunt their pets in public. Right? isn't that what rares are for, for Bragging Rights, give some prestige back to CH, and the concept of rares. Make them visually nicer.
Viable in Combat Issue:
We need better pets, why tame a rare if its not any better than a BE pet? As said before, if its an epic quest you need epic rewards, makes sense enough. Currently the best pet you can use as a MCH is a BE pet, is that as it should be? My arguement for this is:
Rares are the Legendary/Exceptional weapons for CH (correct?). Or RIS as recently stated; lets take the dev view on this. RIS is going to be significantly better than Composite Armor Post-revamp. Yet are our Rares going to be significantly better than a BE pet?
Search for legendary or exceptional looted weapons for other combat professions and see how that cuts out the weaponsmith version. Why can't our rares by-pass BE versions?
It's pitiful, (I showed someone a gaping spider queen compared to a BE spider and he laughed at me).
So why am I not as furious as others, why did i cease to care?
Spend months looking for a pet that isn't worth it to me, or go make some RIS, make some money, have fun? These are just suggestions, and that's all they are. I'm giving my take, what I feel could justify, searching for a pet for so long, or have a BE make you one and wait a week till it grows? I'll pick up the hunt when there's something worth hunting, for now I do it when there is absolutly nothing else to do. I do search for fun, and when the fun stops I stop and move on. I want a rare, yes because its rare, butIrefuse to go monthsw/out success assome poor souls have.Whenever I feel lucky, because thats really all it is, luck, and the amount of ppl constantly looking for one and answering the tell whenever you get a "hey guess what i just found" or "come quick.."
So in conclusion....
You nerf the rareness, then there's nothing to look forward to
You keep the rareness w/out any improvement orchange, you have ppl such as myself (luckily I love CH) everyone else just leaves and drops it....
-Skwall (MCH/MHS) BE pets for the win!!!

It is not ad hominem if you are ignorant. If you are wrong you are wrong, period. Ignorance is no rock upon which to make a stance. It may, however, be a catch 22. And yes if you have been lucky enough to win the lottery, you may be blinded by self interest. But can you tell me you have spent months searching?
I don't rely on personal experience (though it does factor in). My recommendations are based on the reading I get from the community. That reading tells me that people view these "insanely difficult rares" as a challenge to be overcome.
How can you not rely, but it does factor in? You have a handful of people that view this as a challenge and that is ok? Where are some numbers? I am not a gotta catch them all type person. Where is my Frenzied Graul after 8 months? You do not have any numbers to show what the majority of people want. Only the minority who have been "lucky" nor can you show me a Frenzied Graul. Where are the spawn rates?
Again, these aren't all that great stat-wise. The insane rarity is why people want them. There are rancors, GSP-type cats, etc that are easier to acquire. What would be served by also making these particular creatures easier?
What would be served? The answer is this: the mantigrue screecher and frenzied graul have the best PvP attacks. With these CH's could use these to regain some foothold in the GCW. Without them you have nothing but artwork that sells for outrageous prices and is of little use except to the pokemon style player. Some of us are combat players and would like to tame our own decent pets that BE's cannot make. Without better spawn rates CH as a combat class is dead in the water. See no more looping special attacks for pets to make sure they work.
I don't mind getting negative feedback, but I don't respond to personal attacks or flames. If you'd like to continue to have a calm, rational discussion, I'm perfectly open to the possibility that my conclusions are wrong.
Again, it is personal because you make it personal. You have not clearly shown numbers that reflect what the community wants. You have sat back and lurked the forums and judged some arbitrary numbers in your head as to what people want. It is OK if you want to be wrong in your opinion. My opinion is that you ARE WRONG in your facts. The majority of the community wants to see these less rare. And standing your ground on some mythical number does show that you do not have the entire community in mind. Instead you have your own self interest in mind as this is your opinion and you have little to base any supreme judgement on. If this is the case you are no longer a Correspondent but a player with power to assure that you mold CH as you see it and not as the community sees it.
