Omigod I am still so sick because I actually saw a bull rancor baby once at a lair while running bull rancor missions for the really good ch xp halfway through CH on ahazi server..man I was so mad I couldnt tame it. Havent seen one since...

Two wrongs dont make a right...but three lefts do.

I can ask for clarification on whether the current rarity is what was intended... but this is kind of a muddy issue. On the one hand, players are putting a lot of effort into this and want to be rewarded for that effort. On the other hand, the fact that they're hard to get isa large part of what makesthem rewarding. The bull rancor in particularis kind of the CH equivalent of RIS armor, from a certain point of view.

I just worry that if the spawn rates get turned up and these creatures cease to be rare, we'll have ended up throwing out the baby with the bath water.

I appreciate your position, Vert. But there are obviously those of us that do not agree with the rares situation, and you can't not mention it because you disagree with us, it's an issue regardless.

What's it going to take? A full year of searching for a tameable that can be easily out matched by a BE? As of right now, the pure value of many of these rares, namely the Bull Rancor, is appearance only.

Spending 9 months in-game looking for one thing is ridiculous and is something no one should have to do to accomplish any one thing. Not even the FSCS had to wait that long to be unlocked. This has to be addressed. There is no logical reason for tameables to be rare as of now. Either up their stats and keep them as rare, or leave the stats alone and make them unrare. You can't have this big a downside with no upside to match. There has to be a balance one way or the other, so please do mention it...

Vert,

The only muddy waters here are because the baby drowned in the bath water. Many of these rares are useless and the only good one (frenzied graul) has not been seen.

The point is either turn up the spawn rate or make them useful. The 10% of rare collectors that find the current rate fulfilling does not in any way mean the rest of us appreciate rareness quality just for the sake of saying we spent 1000 man hours in the past 9 months actively searching. And trust me that is not too far fetched considering I played 8-16 hours a day on dantooine looking for the goddamned things.

If you want to confuse the issues that is fine. But do so in your own head. The fact is atleast 50% of the people looking want rares to be "less" rare. And if they are not going to be jack for combat then they should be pretty friggen common.

The reason the people who have found them is not more effort but dumb luck. If that is reason for bragging rights the Devs need a marble put in their belly buttons so they can see where they are going when they walk.

PS. Take a **edit**ing poll and see what CH's want and not just people who message you. Make it active. Make it visual and make it stick. Then do something.

For god's sakes quit acting like a Dev. I know you cannot change the game yourself but make sure you have the right damned input and quit lurking on the boards.

I know I would damn sure do things differently than you. This lack of enthusiasm on your part is nothing but complaceny. I cannot tell you when the last time I saw you say something that you heard from the Devs.

For god's sake man at least tell us that CH will not change in the combat revamp, except in the fact that we have already been nerfed and CH will come in line after all other professions get nerfed.

At least tell us that much. Don't give me that **edit** about it being a rough week. If personal life is too much pass the damned torch because you are hindering progress.

Again, I know you cannot change the game. But you can change how we players percieve you.

Not going to turn this into flames, but P9M is right.

Because you disagree doesn't give you the right to shluff this issue off and ask questions as you see fit, Vert. It needs to be done...

I'm not going to be bullied into recommending a course of action that could be potentially destructive to aspects of Creature Handling that people still enjoy. It's true thatsomepostshave expressed frustration at investing many hours into rare hunting without succeeding. But I also constantly read posts about how happy people are whenthey have finally tamed something like a GSP, despite all odds. As you said, stat-wise they're really nothing to write home about. The fact that they're ultra-rare to near impossible is what makes them rewarding. I could do a poll of the active forum participants, as you suggest. But I think I've got a pretty good picture just from reading the regular traffic.

Things like the frenzied graul are clearly borked at this point, and need to have their baby spawning fixed. But things like the Great Plains Stalker and Bull Rancor are challenges... epic challenges. I wholeheartedly agree that there need to be more semi-rare creatures like the Rhoa Kwi Packleader that are basically guaranteed tames if you put in enough time. It's my fervent wish that we'll be given access to as many CL 70 and other creatures in baby form as possible.

We need more things that areeasier to tame than the bull rancor... but that's because we need more things to tame at almost every level. To demote things like the bull rancor from ultra-rare to semi-rare would basically be removing high end content from the Taming aspect of the profession.Given the current Wild vs. BE situation, the Taming aspect of the profession needs all the help it can get.

I'm not even going to touch the comments on my general forum performance. I constantly ask for information I can bring to the forums, and I think it's unreasonable to expect that I'll never have a busy RL week.

Oh please. Let's not get retarded here. You are choosing to ignore those of us that have an issue with the insane rarity of these tameables when you should be addressing it because itIS an issue with some of us.

So you are not going to recommend a course of action because you believe it should not be done. You are making a decission because you simply want to. Just like making the decission not to make the rarity of certain tameables an issue, because some seem to be satisified with the rarity. You're making the decission because you're biased, not based on what your community wants.

As you said, stat-wise they're really nothing to write home about. The fact that they're ultra-rare to near impossible is what makes them rewarding.

You know who says that? People that have one already, or people that just don't care. Not the people that are still looking after 8 months, killing over 10 lairs a day, spending all their in game time looking.

I could do a poll of the active forum participants, as you suggest. But I think I've got a pretty good picture just from reading the regular traffic.

No, I don't think you have a good picture.

Things like the frenzied graul are clearly borked at this point, and need to have their baby spawning fixed. But things like the Great Plains Stalker and Bull Rancor are challenges... epic challenges.

Epic challenges need epic rewards, not just a creature with mediocre stats and amodel type.

And the status on this is?

I am dubious to this being labeled high end content, because if this is what CH's should expect as high end content I am FAR from impressed. How about you start pushing for some real content, and help bring CH out of isolation. We don't hear diddly squat from you and that's a fact, and it's been that way for awhile. I have tried to cooperate and such, and I know you do this "job" on your free time, but either do it or let someone else. I mean, ACTUALLY do it.

Given the current Wild vs. BE situation, the Taming aspect of the profession needs all the help it can get.

And you consider insane rarity, (some of us will eventually be coming up on a year of searching without anything to show for it) help?

I'm not even going to touch the comments on my general forum performance. I constantly ask for information I can bring to the forums, and I think it's unreasonable to expect that I'll never have a busy RL week.

I can appreciate being busy with real life stuff, but that stands to reason, either do it or let someone else do it. Because I am not impressed with your forum performance to say the least.

How old are some of those stickied posts by the way?

You don't like to hear that sort of thing? Well, I don't like having the months and months of time I've spent looking FOR ONE THING to be marginalized because you just don't care...

Im with Vert on this one.

Hell, we know the 'rares' system we have now is far from perfectbut its a start - with more tweaking it could be great content for all CH. A properly designed rares systemwould bean absolutedream come true for all 'pet' classes/skills in any mmog you care to mention.

Simple thing the devs could do to help out the rares system before a proper revamp:

- deliver on what was promised in November, make nearly all creatures up to CL50 spawn babies quite readily. Creatures CL51-70 spawn babies in increasing amounts of rarity.

This would surely help wouldnt it Aakhperkare? For example, under this new system, players who get annoyed with looking for say a Gronda Juggernaut or Bull Rancorcould take their chances with Mire Maraudersor Arachne Queens or something.

Possibly, Castillo. But come on. These are the devs you're talking about here. They promise A LOT and give damn little. And for something as immersed and expansive as you suggest just is not going to happen for a long time...

Totally agreed.

Vert, I agree here again. It is totally BS that the only tangible content is intangible or mythical at best and of no real use.

I could do a poll of the active forum participants, as you suggest. But I think I've got a pretty good picture just from reading the regular traffic.

No, I don't think you have a good picture.

You have the picture you want to have because it supports your very own paradigm.

Things like the frenzied graul are clearly borked at this point, and need to have their baby spawning fixed. But things like the Great Plains Stalker and Bull Rancor are challenges... epic challenges.

Epic challenges need epic rewards, not just a creature with mediocre stats and amodel type.

Epic challenges need epic rewards. In this case we might as well be searching for a picture of something in lairs. All we are truly hunting for is an over-rated piece of art work that is unusable in the game itself.

I wholeheartedly agree that there need to be more semi-rare creatures like the Rhoa Kwi Packleader that are basically guaranteed tames if you put in enough time. It's my fervent wish that we'll be given access to as many CL 70 and other creatures in baby form as possible.

Lair Boss babies are rare. Even ultra-rare. Anything else should spawn on a reasonable basis and easily be found within a month of active searching.

We need more things that areeasier to tame than the bull rancor... but that's because we need more things to tame at almost every level. To demote things like the bull rancor from ultra-rare to semi-rare would basically be removing high end content from the Taming aspect of the profession.

See above. If this really is content, like Aakh. There is little use searching for a "picture" that one cannot display. See various articles about pulling pets out in cities; being chastised and even reported to CSR's for griefing.

Given the current Wild vs. BE situation, the Taming aspect of the profession needs all the help it can get.

And you consider insane rarity, (some of us will eventually be coming up on a year of searching without anything to show for it) help?

Maybe, you should correspond before go hunting rares yourself.

I'm not even going to touch the comments on my general forum performance. I constantly ask for information I can bring to the forums, and I think it's unreasonable to expect that I'll never have a busy RL week.

Vert, I agree with everything Aakh said, and then some. You are muddying the waters for CH. If the baby gets thrown out so be it. It is time for you to step down. Let someone in that wants to be active. Not just someone who wants to be on the inside but ignoring the populace as a whole. You had your run, now pass the torch.

If real life is your priority then we are not. Give it to someone who can make us a priority.
