I would gladly accept a huge increase in sp for these things. If it meant that a person would only be a MCH and not have enough to be another combat profession, then I would gladly do it.

Same here

Don't get me wrong, CH is a great profession, I have a blast with it. They have helped me out in more PVE encounters than I can recall, even with some of the limited PVP, they have helped out tremendously, but if it were not for me having Pistols, then Rifles, the outcomes would have been another story.

Yes under the old system that is true

When the new system goes live, the thought of pets being 'tanks' will go out the window. The hate system will draw the aggro from the target to the highest damage dealer, unless a player 'tank' successfully 'taunts' it. I have heard not a word about pets getting a 'taunt' ability.

We are going to require a revamp to meet our CU needs. When that will be no one knows but they have mentioned it (No im not quoting my source cause I dont wanna get banned)

Well, I finally got on and tried out the froggies. Went MCH/MPistols/left over medic since that was my early CH template and I have a good idea of what worked and what didn't back in the day. I wanted to see how two professions seemingly 'nerfed and useless' for so long would benefit from the CU....

First of all, I couldn't find a single baby to train so I had to play with the mounts from the frogs. I didn't want to take the risk or time to attack a random lair and spawn one, and there weren't any already out and wandering around, no matter where I went. So I figured by grouping him up to my level, he'd at least not get 1-hit killed. So while he generally went down in only a few hits, I was still able to tell that even shooting a mob once was enough to get the aggro on me and there was nothing I could do to switch it back onto the pet.

Combat is slow, tedious, and frustrating right now, pets or no. Things heal at too fast a rate, and most of my specials are not damage-dealing but other random stuff (states, rooting, whatever). So I now have to wait on 1-2 specials to cool down and warm up in order to do any damage.

"Close range crowd control" with a pistoleer is a joke. What's the point of being able to root something in place or knock it down if it comes after youafter a 10 sec delay or just hops right up? Fights against creatures half my leveltook3-5 minutes(if you don't die in the first 30 secs, that is)! While I'm slowly whittling down one creature's health, the other just comes right back into the fight 10 secs later, whether I hit it ornot. And there's nothing more demoralizing than seeing you get their health down to 50% after a minute and a half just to see it pop back to full in one sec.

All in all, very frustrating.

Yep this is basically what I have delt with. I did find a couple tortons and tamed them butt he only way I could keep agro on the pets was to let them fight just them. Nothing like watching a eleite nova trooper 1 shot 2 tortons lol. Oh well maybe tonight will be different who know but who knows.

- I support reverting to & balancing the old combat system

Well I wandered on the TC on Sun to see how it was going. Found the frogs were letting master training happen. Figgures. Right after Joker? grinds all the way. Hey I salute you anyway. Such determination.

I loaded up my MCH as on live. I loaded up Master Rifleman since Master Merchant has little meaning there. (Live to since the recent changes) and (staying on Tat) went west. I was looking for creatures lvl 15+. Found a rock mite lair and saw a baby so stopped and tamed it. Now I had my very own lvl 1 rockmite pet. Off to the west we go. Rather I go. pet did NOT follow. Oh yeah train follow me. Back for pet. Taught group and follow. Off we go. Rather I go. Pet did start to follow but quickly stopped. Sigh. Store pet and off I go west. Then on my overhead map a line of buildings appear and now I am in a forrest of buildings that went on for what seemed like forever. Finally I get past that wave of buildings and harvesters and such and I find a rock beatle lair with 2 lvl 15 creatures. Ah ha. I can begin testing.

Hop of the bike. Call the pet. Send in the pet. The target beatle turns red and starts spitting at me.
the pet sits there. (Oh I forgot to teach it kill) so why did the beatle know that k was the code word for kill? Since I am lvl 80 and the beatle is lvl 15 I quickly kill the beatle with a blast from my rifle. Teach the pet to attack. Next beatle. sent pet in with the k command. pet sits there. beatle starts attacking me.
why is that. Oh wait I remember seeing me shoot the beatle when I issued the k command. Check screen log. no K command in spatial. Oh great they changed that interface too. I have to hit return before I can speak in spatial. That should make things nice and confusing when commanding pets. Randomly attacking the wrong NPCs when trying to talk.

Now back to the combat. Ah another beatle. Sic pet on beatle. Pet lasted 1-2 sec. Well it was a
lvl 1 baby after all. Kill beatle which has now decided its all my fault. Love that hate system (NOT)
un incap the baby. group baby. baby now shows to be a lvl 80 monster. Shoot lair to shake out more
beatles. Hello desktop.

Log back in. Baby still there. Bike still there. Target lair. Hello Desktop. Do full scan.
Log In. No baby No bike 2 beatles. Neither seem to remember me. Good. Call bike. wait 15, Call pet, wait 15, call rifle wait 1. Good that I don't have to wait for everything group pet. Notice again that I cant see its health but that it is a lvl 80 behemoth. Issue the "kill" command. baby starts tward beatle. Hello Desktop.

Not to flame anyone but it's my opinion that jopenack is definitely jumping the gun here. I mean if his pets are able completely tank a Gorax - obviously things are not balanced yet. I'm sure things will improve. Whether they improve enough to satisfy most of the critics is another question, but they obviously will improve. I'd advise against posting such alarmist posts until things have settled a bit.

First we was fixed before everyone else and now it will be later.

I agree, but sadly there is nothing to do but wait. Screaming and yelling till we are blue in the face will only make us look like the smurfs

I do not care if you are a fan or not of CU

Im not a fan of the CU, but I at least understand a few things about programming and the development process that makes me a little bit more tolorant than some people here

I will say it again this does not feel like something they have been working on for over a year.

Theres a very very good reason it dosent feel like something they have been working on for a year. That reason isthis simplyisnt the CU they have been working on for the last year. They spent a year working on a muchbetter one and were still working on it when some pencil pushing D!ck #e@d in the marketing departmentdecided it would be a good idea to slap them with an impossible deadline. So they s c r a p e d the old CU and dumbed the game down to a level that your average 1st grader can understand and also gave us flashy colors so we can be eintertained simply because it was all they could do with the timeframe given.

Yes my thoughts do not count for anything but this has to rough of a feel to me.

1. Its a combat support class I see the vanity come shineing through. No I aint no combat support yes you are like it or lump it. I have heard this bogus nonsense before on many a forum my class is not a combat support. This is not a slander on the CH profession. I am a CH by the way, and you know what I am proud of the skill.

2. The krayt analogy is just a good analogy. See as most players will not take tanking a kreetle lair at all seriously. Try it though you will see where the sit back and wait philosiphy comes in.

3. Your wrong pets are disposable. I like my pets, but I will fess up a third of my pets are expressly used as disposable pets. They are generic, and therefore replaceable. As they get worn down I delete and go tame a new one. In some fights you not only need to accept that you will lose pet vitality, but you will. The TKA is not disposable once he dies he has to clone and you need to wait ten minutes for him or her to get back. Unless you have a doc in a buffing frame of mind. A CH can simply store a beat up pet and call another. The pet is disposable not the person. Though I dislike TKAs myself. I do not want to see a friend die in favor or saveing a mobile mob.

4. Hint the fact that a plain CH gets owned alot in pvp and high level pve is pointing to the fact that is a combat support and not a combat. If you really want to get fancy you can point out its the most combat support of combat supports. Simply put none of the other supports completely stack with any other with no cost. You want to use healing your going to have to use some ham points to do that the same with rangeing and scouting. Forageing costs ham. CH on the other hand can be done with no ham use at all. You sick the pet and let it get worn down tanking.

5. Oh I love the point about stacking two. Guess what a combat support class can support the player that has it. If your a riflemen and a ch. You are simply useing the ch to combat support yourself. A combat support is not about stand alone power its about augmentation of combat power. Like a doctor steming illness, or a scout masking scent.

6. Get over what you are how many medics do you hear screaming I am a crafter or I am a combat. Same goes for squad leaders or rangers. Know your role.

No offense taken Barafu

I only posted the gorax story cause i thought it was funny, yea endors not balanced but its my favorite place to tame. I went there to tame not do combat. the gorax was just there lol and I said what the heck.

I had a long reply listed but lost it do to a logout on the forums but suffice it to say, even if they fix every bug and there will be more in the two weeks they have left lol. with every bug fixed, creatures balanced along with pets, you will have a player/creature level system that takes all the fun out of looking, planning and trying to do anything challanging as we know it today.

This is pretty much what it comes down to for me. I don't like looking at a purple dot and walking away. there is no challange in seeing what you can and cant do so blatantly. Its all a matter of choice and what you call fun. I hope you understand.

Jumped the gun yup sure did and will do again. Its better than sitting on my butt and waiting for others to either do nothing or not say anything, then when its live and people scream at least i can say I opened my mouth in here and on TC.

Like hossp once told me if its not fun its time to stop playing. This level sytem has taken the "what if I do this" aspect away from me. Its what I liked about swg. My pets wont mean squat puple still means death lol.

In september my last account runs dry and I shall be moving on. Nothing will change that, its pretty sad. all I ever wanted was the existing game fixed not a whole new game based on generic puppet levels.

Iwish you luck in the new system and hope you find it enjoyable.

I hope that wasn't directed at my post . My pets are my companions first and weapons second. They are not disposable. The ones on TC are, as is the entire char over there so I have no sympathy for them. Being attached as strongly as we are to a set of data patterns in a server at SOE could be considered odd.
But it won't be the first time I have been considered odd
