I don't think there was one profession that didn't loose something in the CU. Face the facts..............you or the other 30 professions will never get that back. I am a returning CH and I have not mastered yet and I do not have the datapad full of pets like so many vet MCH, but your pets are still as good as they were after the CU, go out and tame a pet that has an innate ability, fight with it to learn that ability and then release it. You can then teach your exhisting pets that ability. You guys are complaining that you have to fight with your old pets to get xp. Don't you fight with them anyway? Isn't that what CH is all about? or do you just let them sit in your datapad and pull them out in the SP to impress someone? You can fight with your old pets and have fun again. I think 70% of the fun is finding pets to tame. If you don't like getting a revamp, send the devs over to the rangers. We will definatly appriciate them.

Everything you've stated here is true and makes perfect sense. The thing I believe you may be missing, and what others have been trying to point out, is that those long time pets in our datapad, in all intents and purposes, start out from scratch. They have zero pet xp. They have zero inate pet abilities. The must be ground in order to open a slot so they can be taught even the most basic ability. This is what bothers the long time masters.
It isn't about having to use a datapad pet. Yes, we use them. It is the fact that my long time datapad pet is less useful than a brand new baby tamed from the wild that already has an inate ability. Those babies fight at their adult level.
See, that's it in a nice form-fit package. It is better to release every animal in your datapad and tame new animals from the wild that have inate abilities. If you are going to grind an animal, does it not make sense to grind one that is "born" with a special? These new babies fight as if they are adults. This is why the older CH's are upset. Fluffy suddenly became obsolete.

You got it, and I agree that it is not an issue to some. To others it is. Some people see it as making Fluffy better than he was prior to this patch. Others see it as having to grind two animals instead of just keeping the wild animal that has the inate ability and giving Fluffy the long sleep.
Realistically, after all the dust settles out and time passes, there will be a spreadsheet posted with all the inates that can be found on various animals. CH's will have a favorite animal or group of animals they intend to keep and use. They will use the spreadsheet to tame wilds and grind them for a short time and teach those abilities to their "keeper" pets. This is exactly what you will find if you play hunter in WoW. All the inates have been explored and charted. That system is identical to the "new" SWG system with the exception that you get more abilities and you get to use a larger variety of pets.
I only hope that all those abilities work, and not just a few while the rest are bugged like the old specials system was. I also hope the pet AI is fixed so pets are useful and fun (like they are in WoW). ![]()
BTW - if you explore the WoW hunter forum you will find a ton of rants and raves regarding pets. Everyone "complains." It is the nature of people. We all do it. I was sort of flabbergasted considering how well those pets work in contrast to the pets here but I'll bet many of those players don't realize just how bad it could be.
What you will also find in those WoW hunter forums that you will not find here are developer posts answering questions and giving hunters a perspective of how they fit into the "balance" of the game. If SOE is going to emulate anything from WoW I wish it would have been the developer response to the customer base. Just thought I'd mention that.

I totally understand your point. I didn't quite look at it that way. All I am saying is that a profession gets content and all I see on the forums is complaints. I for one will totally enjoy the new content. My point is this.................you go tame a pet that has an innate ability and fight with you, you learn that ability. You then pull fluffy out and fight with him/her for a little while (which you probably would do any way) Then you can teach fluffy that new ability.

Maybe if we got some fixes to go along with our content we would be happier. My pets do infact act and are just as useful now as they were on Wed. If I choose to grind MCH again they can be better than they were on Wed. If the DEVs had fixed ANY of the outstanding bugs they would have been better than they were on Wed. Right now they have only the potential to be better.

I love the new content. However, this was supposed to fix the specials that were broken by the CU. That was stated at Fanfest. I am looking forward to the taming of new pets. I am looking forward to learning these new specials. I am looking forward to teaching these new specials to my pets that already have 2 non working specials.......wait I cant train my existing pets? My pet is not mature? I have had most for almost 2 years. I have been using them even after the CU even though they were seriously gimped. You mean I have to lvlall my current pets so that I can teach them the new specials that are to fix the broken specials they have now? The same ones they broke and said they would fix? Yes they will be as effective as they were pre pub 21. But they are still not as they were before the CU busted them. Why cant existing full grown pets just have their training slots open? I am fully prepared and looking forward to hunting down those pets that will give me the new specials. But please let me train these to my existing pets. Dont make me "lvl" (grind) them to take advantage of this "fix"

Old schools MCH here this is a change we all wanted and needed so stop crying about it and enjoy the new features ...I hate cry babies besides why do you have to start over when your current pets can still do what they did prior to the patch ...
BOO HOO
I would be impressed to see you list for us the posts where anyone in this profession asked for any of these changes. The simple fact is they should listen to the community first and not act as if the people who actually play the profession know nothing about it.
Now, you can debate the question:
If a flame is directed to me in a thread, and I don't ever read it, did it ever really happen?

Hey Meuw.
Hey bud, I haven't left CH, Just don't practice it anymore. Think of it like this: being a CH is like being an alcoholic. You never stop being one, you just stop drinking like one.
I still catch myself typing in "A" before I attack something...it is truly sad.
