I think this is wrong, there are a lot of us with a full datapad of rares and elites.

I would guess that the better special abilities would be on these...

So we have to get new ones it seems

Alas, unless you are sentimental, you can make room in your datapad by deleting those three female narglatches we all have 'cause they will be elite no more ... just crappy level 22 pets!

Well the elite bug hit live if you recall, they just ahev ont re-applied the hot fix abck to tc..

Actually....

There are no longer and Elite Tamables. They have been removed with the new system, since you can /trainPet different Abilities that you learn. From what I have seen, I would much rather have the abilities then the Elites, since there are Abilities such as Aggression, which will actually hold Aggro much better then any pet that is currently on Live.

There are still Elite Critters in the game, just not ones that CHs can tame.

If the special rate is really around 1 in 7 as Drashk suggests, then existing pets not having specials isn't quite as bad. If they are totally random and not species specific, moreso.

However, because our pets are changed everytime wild ones are (or BE pets through various patches), we have already had three or four "revamps". I find it odd that through every nerf our pets have changed to match the wild ones, yet the one time we get something good, they do not.

Considering that, it would be fair if our existing pets had the same random chance to get specials that the new wild pets have. If they want to make up for the year of "the Combat Revamp is coming", that we were specifically balanced first for, then a slightly better chance of specials might be taken as an olive branch.

(Yes, I am still bitter about that.)

I will miss Alpha, Omega, and Pain but I didn't get to play with them much so it will be easier to release them. As to those who calously say that we should delete our pets some of which have been with us since the beginning I wish them the oppertunity to live in interesting times.

I have no attachment to my rifles or pistols. They have no names and no ability for me to name them. They do not respond with any kind of AI behaviour. My pets are however my companions first and my weapons and armor second. It will be much harder to release them with the memories they invoke then to throw away that hot krayt rifle I used to take down my first Rancor. It's the nature of the RPG of the game and I realize that some people still and maybe never will understand.

how about this for the sentimental MCHs who cant find it in their hearts to part with the rare pets that they spent months looking for but will become absolutely useless in combat: taxidermy.

your pets have passed their prime, and if you only want them as trophies of the search, take them to a CH trainer who willmake them items in your inventory which are like BE untamed pets to drop at your house, but unlike BE pets in that you can't get them to the datapad.

i bet with the attention some rednames are giving our section the idea could be noticed and could possibly be considered.

So we get to train a pet to have greater defense? We get to train our pets to have more health? That is what the elites had and what made them worth useing. So what if a pet can hold aggro better if they die just as fast or faster then before. I would see how a DE would miss this point but then again I am not sure why you are in CH fourms. Never mind I am sure you have a CH alt somewhere and once being a corrspant you know everything. Doh I forgot reveryone that plays on test feels they are right I forgot silly me /slapsforhead.

You either get the person orginal point or you do not. has nothing to do with wanting soemthing for nothing otherwise they would not have wasted there time being a CH. Not everyone can tame find and tame a bull rancor within the first 10 mins of looking.

Maybe things will work out but for me I do not care anymore. Change is good and can be fun but change just for the hell of it is the actions of being bored lol

Or add 1 more Datapad slot for a pet so we can go around taming pets and learning the abilities to teach to our old pets??

Don't forget you can teach creatures special abbilities, so you could train all those pets you have to learn specials gained from training new pets. That way your old pets can get exactly the specials you want them to have.

aka - you can teach an old Rancor new tricks.

exactly.

Now no information has been given on how these special abilities are generated on pets.

But my guess is the better special abilities will be given on tamed rares and elites which many of us already have

I think it is wrong that they won't and I posted why in Keldarin's thread. Hopefully they will reconsider, but I'm expecting to either have to put in extra work or go retame everything. (Depending on how fast the xp comes, it might be quicker to retame than start with an existing ability-less pet.)

It would appear that any baby, of any species, can have an innate Ability. The chances of finding a baby with an innate appears to be around 1 in 7. Once you learn the ability from the baby, you can teach it to any pet that you have that has room to learn. Higher CL critters appear to have (L2) versions of the skills,, while low CL critters appear to have (L1) versions of the skills. I'm guessing but maybe rarer babies may have the chance of having (L3) versions of the skill (This is only a guess)

I have a CL14 Slice hound that is hit a XP roll over 9 times now. It has 3 Ability Slots.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that current pets, that are fully grown, will start out with Ability Slots and Training points appropriate to a fully tamed pet, under the new system. With these pets, you should be able to teach them any new special Abilities that you learn, under the new system.

I disagree with the belief that old pets should have these special abilities. This is a new game feature that is being added. All other professions have had the need to aquire new weapons, armor, and items, over the course of their life time. So too should CHs understand this concept. Honestly, how many of those rare tamed pets are doing nothing more then take up datapad storage space? Besides, it would appear that some of the relics from the past are now respawning once again. There is now the chance to once again tame these babies. Soon, some of the rares will no longer be as rare as they once where. Keeping the attitude of not learning the new Abilities will be the only truelyrare CH ability, once this hits Live.
