Thread: The Unofficial Creature Mount Guide
/gallop works like burst run, but i have not had it run out while on the mount. It can't be used multiple times like burst run, if you type /gallop and then dismount and remount, you can't use gallop again for a certain time. Im not sure what the time limits are, but you do get a message just like you would if you were trying to use burst run over and over.
Mounts do not use the explore skills, apparently the devs think that this should be your skill, and not apply to the pet.
You and your mount take damage durring a fight. An enemy can choose to attack you or your mount and switch at any time.
Player and mount act like one object, but they can both be targeted.

When mounts go live, do I need Empathy IV or Management IV to train them? I know its going to change but what will it be when they come live? I've seen the answer somewhere but I can't find again.
Could be a good one the add to the FAQ.
Thanks guys.
I have read what all of you have stated, and feel that each of you have valid points. Here is mine:
I don't play this game to make millions.. what in the world would I do with it all. I just want enough to be able to travel wherever, whenever, or buy the weapons I need, or to someday buy a home and afford maintenance. Sure, there are nice extras I'd like to have.. but I can live without them.
I DO plan on selling mounts at an inflated price, but not a ridiculous one either. My reasoning is that I can only imagine what prices vehicles will go for... and how high the prices may be. I certainly am going to want one. What if the vehicles are WAY faster than the mounts (as they should be).. why would anyone want a mount at that point. I have no idea what the vehicle restrictions may be, but I imagine mount prices are going to plummet drastically when the time comes. Maybe I can't see a mount going for over $100k, but I can see a vehicle going for that high.. at least for a long while. I wanna make sure I have enough $ to get one when that time comes. Maybe I can manage to cut a deal with an engineer as a trade off when the time comes... help him and his friends out now.. get a good deal later. But then again.. who doesn't have a friend who's a Master CH out there. Again, a lot of this is simply speculation.... but if non-CH pets can already go from $10k up to $20k or more... I see no reason why it's impossible to sell mounts for $30k to $50k.. give or take popularity. None of these creatures are all that tough to find out in the wild anyway.
Also, we were told that new, and even rare babies will start showing up after the patch as well. I don't thing we will see the return of extinct pets.. but I can imagine some nice new ones that weren't around before. Just think... a new type of kimigola that can be tamed. I have no clue if it will ever happen, but it'd sure be nice. We have some nice stuff happening for us in this patch, and we have some hard hits as well. We need to play this out carefuly, so as not to get hit too terribly in the future.
So, in closing, yes, I plan to increase the charge for selling mounts.. but nothing too crazy.. kinda let the market dictate what is acceptable. No point in charging $50k when the 3 Ch next to me are charging $30k!!! I will charge to train mounts that players already own, but nothing too much at all.. maybe $5k or something small. We are a "profession" If we continue to take hits, we won't be AS helpfull when it comes to combat.. so we might as well act like it's a "profession" and make some type of profit.
So... ultimately it sounds like mounts are essentially useless. Wonderful.
Leave it to SOE to turn something that could have been very nice and a good feature in this game of incessant running from point A to point B to have something that moves faster than you do.
However, the lack of being able to use mask scent while on a mount, and the behavior of the mount when aggroed (slowing down) makes them ultimately useless. At best, they will be something people ride around on in the city. Just what we need... more people doing stuff to clog up the cities.
Do mounts use your explore skill?
If you get attacked while mounted, does your mount take damage?
When you target a mounted player, can you target the mount OR the player? Or are they one combined object?
I get questions from Novice CH's to Master CH's on my server on pet sales, levels, etc.
Here's how I currently handle the situation and I how I plan on handling the situation post-mounts.
1. I sell all pets at 1K per CL (challenge level) - You can see a pets CL if your are Master Scout (examine it from the radial menu).
2. I plan to sell all mounts at 2K per CL. If there's a very high demand for a particular pet that is not spawning well and it's not easy to locate, then I will adjust the price to no more then 3K per CL.
Charging a 100K for a CL10 pet that does not fight andcatchesthe eye of amobis simply too high. I knowthat someother classes/more specifically players, overcharge and exploit on their items, but I don't personally plan to take advantage of others because I may be granted the opportunity to do so. However, SWG is a free-market and each CH is free to sells pets for whatever strikes theCH's fancy. I would imagine it will be difficult to sell a CL10 pet for 100K in your local star port when a number of nearby MCH's are selling the same pet for 20-25K.
3. I like the idea of trying to structure a "reasonable/fair" price guide for all CH's to follow regarding pet sales and to post the results on a Web site so other players will have an idea what a creature might cost and can financially plan for the future purchase. Several of you guys have "opened" my eyes on these boards as far as "just giving pets away". I admit, I have been guilty of giving pets to folks 5 minutes out of the tutorial for free and that's probably not the best thing to do. We worked hard to earn XP to climb the CH tree and for some to Master CH and we should get something in return, but that too should be fair and balanced. I'll reconsider the way I handle that type of situation.
4. For the Devs/Correspondent - It would be nice to mark a thread near the top of the profession board that highlights the proposed and upcoming changes to our class. Additionally, it would be useful if that thread was closed to posts from other players. It takes W-A-Y too long on these boards to find all the important class-specific proposed changes when it could be updated in one thread that is locked at the top. We can start new threads to address "complain :-)" about the changes outside of that area. I'd like to spend no more then 10 minutes a day checking the boards to get the bread and butter of changes that will effect my gaming experience without reading all the suggestions/myths/rumors/etc. There's certainly a place for that and I enjoy reading other player's reactions, but I'm also busy and just need the quick facts when I'm pressed for time.
