Thread: Having Problems With Your Pets? Post here

My two biggest complaints since the patch...

1) Pets standing 0m from me. It's extremely annoying!

2) But this pales in comparison to my pets running away in combat. Every one of my cats, every one of my dogs, every one of my lizards -- all of them run away in combat now. I'm constantly having to call them back in range, and send them in to attack again. TH says some pets are cowards. Really? Since when?

An addendum to my earlier test post.

Only once did one of my pets run around wildly without attacking.

The Mokk was near the bottom of a little incline and my Merek was engaging on the same level (if not just a little below). My Grand Wrix, however, was running up and down the hill like mad. To the left of the mokk, to the right of the mokk and into the mokk. It wasn't until the mokk aggro'd on me for a short period and it moved off the hill a little towards me when my GWrix finally started attacking.

Is this game breaking bug ever going to be fixed? Or are things working as intended for Creature Handlers. This whole situation is totally depressing.

Th has yet to report back with our under CL 50 tameables and our rares. Our top 10 (among many other top 10) questions have yet to be answered. Only 2 mounts are planned. And a profession breaking bug was merely refered to as "cowardly" pets...

This happened several times in the Droid cave. I would get aggro'd and then set my pets on the mob. They pets always ran and attacked. Never payed attention if they ran past, but it always pulled aggro off of me.

Was running around in the droid cave on Lok where the enemies are very very weak (to me) so I didn't have my pets out. Ran out into the town (that is almost on top of it in my server) called the same two pets (TMB and grand wrix and set them to attack every enemy I came across without my help. No running, no chasing, just standing on the mob and ripping it apart. Admittedly each fight lasted nearly a minute (a short fight),so I don't know if it was an accurate test.

I spent the better part of the afternoon evening on Dath looking for Bull Rancor babies and grinding unarmed xp to finish of TK. Pet's would runaway/chase/whateveritisthatsgoingon about 75% of the time. Only about 1 in 4 times would the pets go to the mob and stand and fight, actually less often but Im giving them benefit of the doubt. Pets would be half dead before I could get them to finally stand and fight so I could move in and kill off the mobs. This was on relatively flat ground BTW, on hills the pets would be dead before I could get them to stand and fight.

This really needs to be fixed ASAP. I noticed quite a few posts today by TH and Devs, yet still no comment on this game breaking bug.

Fighting different creatures on Dant, my pets kept running away constantly. First I thought it might just be my angler, so I tried them all. And they all have the same annoying habit of running from everything I faced.

Whereas, the same pets never ran before the last publish. I got rid of the pets that would run away and only kept these for their willingness to stand their ground.

These are the problems I am having and i suspect they stem from the same sourse:

1) Pets move ALOT in combat. I can't tell if they are running or if they are chasing but either way it's a game breaker. I can't keep any mob in range of my pistol and when I try to melee it is impossible for me to keep up while my pet and the mob are playing tag. This seems to happen with all of my pets no matter if they are big or small, ferocity 0 or 15, CL 5 or 58. Spamming "attack" doesnt seem to help much.

2) Pets stand on top of each other and on top of me. When they stand on me I can't see and/or click my pointer onanything. When i have 2 pets out they stand inside of each other making itvery hard for me to target one with my pointer for heals and such.

3) Pets (and vehicles) seem to randomly auto-store. I did notice that when usingtwo pets they always auto-store together.

4) Although not in the game yet:Waiting 30 seconds for a pet to show up after you called it, and 60 seconds after combat before you can store itseems like a realy bad idea to the vastmajority of the CH community. We can't seem to come up with any validreason why this should be implemented for pets. I ask you to please reconsider this upcoming change or at least think about adding "calling/storing speed" modifiers in the CH tree so that at master there is no delay at all. Especially as we are "Creature Handlers" by profesion should we not be efficient at calling and commanding beasts? Make the timer on vehicles if you must, but CHs would be veryupset if these seemingly needles time sinks were added to our already troubled class.

And no TH I don't think it's because "some pets are just cowards".The habit ofblowing off legitimate bug complaintswith an "I'm not going to bother to look in to it" attitude will not due. This is not free ware. We all paid money to buy this game and subscribe for service, and service is exactly what we deserve. If your car is making a clanking noise and the dealership blows you off by saying "Some cars are just noisy". Would yourespect that dealership and trust themto keep your car running properly?

We expect the same from you guys as we would from anyonethat we pay for a service: Listen to the problem(s). Figure out the solution. Implement it yesterday.

That seems like afairlysimple and successfulsystem for providing good service.

I decided to give it a little time before I posted my findings. So here goes...

You've made it so we must use column and wedge commands to keep the pet at a normal distance. This isn't a big deal to me. A simple command puts them in their place. I've not noticed any more pet running that normally occurred before the patch and I've been doing PVE and PVP with my same pets as before. I did initially have problems with a pet autostoring once in awhile, but that hasn't happened for quite some time. I think a lot of the issues with running and autostoring have to do with the connection to the server. Mine's always rock solid and hangs around 122 ping, which is darn awesome. I can get specials to work pretty much every time I want using the /tellpet followtarget then /tellpet s1 or s2. So far the only other thing I've noticed is if set in wedge formation the pets run at an angle behind you because they're constantly trying to be in wedge mode. The devs got column right as they run beside you, but wedge needs some work.

I think these problems are directly related to connection issues and lag. I've not noticed anything discernable that would affect my gameplay any different that what it was before. Believe me, I use my pets every day.
