Thread: Post-Publish 6: Running mobs increase
Well, last test is done. The Voritors respect you privacy. I changed my house from public, I let alot of newbs use it as a place to log and hate trying to do the visitor list, to private. They will not come into a private house. I have 4 on the porch at the moment. The will come into a public house. I had to flee the house for a while. I had 3 of them after me. I finally kited and peaced them until they they quit. I went back and made the house private and they do not enter it.
Well, from my fooling around, it seems they are only cowardly if you sic a pet on them. I have not had one run from me without a pet. I even tried a BE CL 19 pet that does max dam of 55. It has around 60 resists to kinetic/blast/ and most others and 7600ham. The lizard ran like hell.

Strange. I did not see this on Test Center in the past weeks. For example I used a rancor, gnarled rancor, rhoa kwi pack leader, mountain dewback, forest slice hound, crimson razor cat. The mountain dewback ran like crazy, as always... but the others seemed fine. I'll check it out on Live tonight.
test center is nothing at all remotely the same code as live. what works on test more than liekly just assures it wont on live. thats why they are trying to come up with a way to have a copy of a live shard code base and database on a TC Server to look for such things. Bria was up for that briefly for testing. hopefully it will be fully implemented for publish 7
I had Stormtroopes run away in all of my missions last night. I did 6 of them for a combined total of about 18 running stormtroopers. Although it was enjoyable to have the mobs move there was really no strategy. Not a very fun time sink the 3rd time it happens.

Just an FYI on what I've seen since Publish 6 went live:
In PvE, mobs are now running all the time, not just with some "pet models". Think Stormtroopers in faction missions. :-/

Stormies have always run away like little girls from anything, to include dewbacks and GSPs. They're such cowards.
Yeah, bump this running BS up. Tried working with a group on dath fighting rancors, and the things run around and aggro everything else and their mom, and it is an endless cycle. The only way I could keep the running at bay was to constantly do the follow, attack, follow, attack, which I have to say was one of hte most frustrating evenings in this game so far for me.
I have never considered dropping CH before since day one of this game, but after last night I am considering it.

Sorry to give you the bad news but all my pets are running or they are chasing the mob's all over the place.
I use a CL52 BE Gurreck that I have never seen.....and I mean never seen run from anything, but when he starts turning tale from a CL35 Sharnaff Bull then something is up !
Since you are our CH correspondent I am hoping you can get to the bottom of this.
I count at least 4 posts going now regarding this issue !
Please get us some feedback.
I waited until last night before running my experiments post patch. What can I say? I've grown to really dread patches.
So, I started by pulling every critter out of my datapad in my camp, and every single one of them stood on my head. When I realized that my line of sight was getting ridiculous, I hit the /bug report (not that it will do any good), and pulled out a BE puppy and a natural Klik Defender to play with. These two were very specifically so that I could see over them when they insisted on standing on my feet.
After tripping over my pets many, many, many times, I find some kliks to play with. This is a good experiment because kliks all gang up on the critter, and then stand there nailing it over and over again. Welp, not tonight. I ended up simply spamming my pistol stopping shot (and I hate spamming specials like that) and then using my macros for /tellpet kill and /tellpet follow, over and over again to keep the gang within range of my shooting. It was odd that I had to be constantly commanding my critters when I usually don't.
Four dead kliks later, I go to harvest (waste not, want not). Once again, my critters insisted on standing on me, and I was constantly tripping over them trying to harvest. I actually missed one of the bodies until I had the bright idea of running away a bit and targeting the body on the fly, so that I could harvest. Grrrr...
Wondering if it might just be Kliks, I tried Mamiens (they always stand still). Nope, they were all over the landscape. Tybis's? All over the place. Anglers, Tanc Mites, Sintarils, Chokus, Spined Pucs and Mawgax's, too. Grrrrrrrr...... And the only work around for the critters standing on my head was to tell them to stay while I went to harvest, and then call them to go to the next whatever I was after.
Much frustration later, I ended up spending the next hour gathering milk and eggs. At least the evening wasn't a total waste. *grin*
My story to add to the cry of "Could someone please fix this idiocy?" I have figured out how to kind of work with the system as it stands, but it's aggravating to have to be constantly telling the critter to come/kill/come/kill/come/kill to have it do what I want it to. In addition, it's aggravating to have to tell the critter to stay in place when all I want is to harvest the kills.
