i still don't see how people can just write CH off as being useless, i did a test with two pets against a jedi lvl80 not me attacking just him against two pets and had i helped them he would have easily been dead, sense my pets alone damaged him quite a bit. the only thing that saved him was his heal ability.
pets were both BE, but health not past 7000.
once specials are corrected i think we will see more success at pvp with pets.
I have a level 53 spider, 11k ham and 430-440damage that i use in PVP.
This thing hits every 2 seconds (without fail), my opponent cannot root me AND the pet, so they have to decide which one to fight. It significantly increases my DPS, breaks rifleman cover, stops cloak and breaks any special with a warm-up timer.
When specials come back in, creatures will be very useful to have.
CH is viable in PVP (even my Gaping Spider Hunter is pretty nasty)

Testing on Jedi is actually not the best examples.
Jedi really are not as uber as most people believe. There are several templates that have a very big impact on offense and defense abilities of jedi's. For example a master defender/master healer Jedi could sit there indefinatly while pets attacked him and it would do little more than tickle him. But a master powers/master saber jedi would takehuge damage. Of coarse one of these templates has alarge offensive capabilty but its not like it was pre-cu. As a matter of fact a master rifleman or master swordsman is just as if not more effective in offense. Many jedi whether completed templates or working on templates mix and match skills which has a large effect on the offensive/defensive abilities.
The only fair way to measure pvp effectiveness is to test/pvp with the other professions,
Jedi is poor test subject since they have no one template and in many forms are just as nerf'd or useful as any other master combat profession.
well i cant find anyone but jedi on my server lol, not an insult to the jedi community, but most pvp'rs out there lately have been jedi.

Now that you mention it they are the only people I really see pvp'n lately lol.
If my pets could actually use their specials, they would totally rock. My Mantagrue Screecher put up a heck of a fight PVPing my BF, who is a level 80 TKM/Swordsman. If my screecher had his plague strike, my BF probably wouldn't have had a chance.
My MCH character is my only character that can actually solomissions that are her level, as long as she has one of her pets out. My MBH/Carbineer character can't even do that... he ends up getting his butt kicked whenever he tries to solo missions his level.

Here's how:
If the Jedi, or any other Level 80 elite combat professional, has any PvP experience *at all*, he is going to ignore the pets completely and kill the CH ... then either deal with the pets or run away. This is not only just as true now as it was 3 months ago, it's *more* true because now he doesn't even have to worry about the pet hitting with Specials.
Can you win in PvP against a Level 65 or against some eBay Jed-eye who doesn't have a clue how to run his character? Sure. That's not the standard people are measuring against when asking when the uselessness of CH in PvP will be remedied, and it never was.
Thats the thing though, you are not going to dominate in solo PvP or even in small groups. If you are in a full group your opponents first have to figure out who the CH is all the while dealing with your pets and your group mates. Its not an I win button, but it is effective.
I have been thinking back to the old days of CH in the summer and fall of 2003 when a lot of pets were used in PvE and PvP and the situation was similar. You'd be overt in the SP and two grauls would come out of nowhere along with a group of 7 or 8 people and you had to find the CH or deal with the pets. It wasnt easy then. Unless people are prepared and or very experienced they tend to deal with immediate threats rather than an overall strategy. Things have definitely changed now, and I certainly need to do some testing in PvP with my pets, but I wouldn't go writing them off in PvP yet. Once specials are working again that will add even more flavor to the mix.

didnt you already post this once on the first page? i know you think they will go right for the ch, but it is not always that easy, he still has to deal with the handlers combat profession, though he may not have the power of the pure elite pvp professional, the handler can at least have close to its defenses, unless its handler/ranged vs a meleer, then he can just root the meleer.
its not a pretty sight did some dueling against a mbh/mcab watch him take out my level 50 rancor before it got to him less then 50m just about the same in all pets most in the level 60 range
No-one so far has vaguely convinced me that CH are viable in PvP, much the opposite.
It seems the only people who have had any success are those who who got lucky and have pre-nerf BE pets which have 400-500+ minimum damage. Whilst this is very nice for them this doesn't help the majority of the profession who have normal tamed pets confirming to the existing restrictions with the highest minimum damage of about 100.
Until pet damage is made viable then we will continuously have our backsides handed to us.
In my opinion they need to either:
A) Link your pets damage to your level (if higher) when you are grouped with them
or
B) Increase the level of pets you can tame (At least up to 80)
or
C) Increase pet damage
to the guy who says his Rancor killed 3 jedi....ROFL. cough bs cough
OR
Those were the worst jedi to ever play this game. Period. Regardless of whether your rancor was pre pre pre nerf pre cu post converted pre big bang post evolution pre coding meat bag.
