Thread: Devs why do you hate us so??

Actualy search works fine for me. I did a search of all of Thunderhearts posts using the word pokemon. Guess what? Not a single post by him containing that word. I challenge you to back up what you say and find one for me. Having just looked myself I'm quite confidant that you can not do so.

So again, show me some direct evidence that Dev's hate creature handlers. If you can show me a post from a Dev stating a dislike for our profession even better that they hate it, I'll never post here again.

But if you take the time to go through a lot of old posts from the "In Development" Forums TH refers to us as Pokemon (insert various words and phrases here) mutiple times. Many times we demanded appoligies for this slighting by him and recieved none.

TH's answer to our original pathing problem "some pets are just cowards"

And Yes TH is the mouthpiece of the devs that is his job, so what he says is inferred to be the oponion of the devs.

I don't need facts, I have logic and statement. No dev has ever posted saying they hate CH. Its stupid to think they hate any perticular class, simply rediculous. Why whould they hate a class? Does it make them more money? Increase job satisfaction? Its childish paranoid ranting. Do they have other priorities at the moment? Hell ya they do. Welcome to reality and time management.

If there is a flaw to my logic as to why the Dev's don't hate our profession I'm interested in hearing it.

The flaw(s) in your logic are at least 2 fold. First Logic is a method of applying scientific methods to facts to attempt to come to conclusions. Thus without facts logic is of no value. 2nd the developers never said they Liked us. It is very difficult to prove a negative so we should try to prove that they hate, dislike, dont care, like, love us. Now while I am sure there are more possible steps we can deal with those 6 and do more refinement later..

Now many of us who have been here for a while have observed the significant nerfing of our profession several months before *ANY* one else. We have TH's multiple smart remarks and pokemon comments. We do *NOT* have any input from Devs to contradict our impression that we are not liked. Feel free to offer facts and apply logic to try and help us determine which of the above 6 are the closest to the Devs opinion of us. You will need some facts to work with. I notice you posted at least 1 fact to justify your point. Alas your fact is in error therefore your conclusion will be in error. I also notice you posed some questions that you offered no answers to. Perhaps you could propose some answers to those questions and we could get closer to understanding what the Devs opinions toward CH is. Of course they could come tell us.

Excuse me it was part of the weekly roundtable discussion so of course it gets deleated 2 weeks after. now as for our demands that he appoligise

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=creature_handler&message.id=172851&highlight=poke#M172851

That is just 1 of many a quick pokemon search will show.

Unfortunately most of the people that saw the original post are long gone or just left (pluto and sky)

So no I cannot show you the posts because they got deleated per TH's policy but go back a few months and read you will find plenty of references to his comments as well as his "some pets are just cowards" answer to our pathing problems.

Now do I truly believe the devs hate us. No, It's called a catchy headline. Sorry I happen to have been a writer in college, I learned how to attract attention. I stlll challenge you to prove false my original statements.

Thunderheart did in fact say that. Our own correspondent can back that up, if you continue to not believe the people who had to deal with the embarassment.

But that's beside the point. Sadly I've had to come to the conclusion that you're really just being a troll here . . . you're adding nothing constructive to the conversation other than insulting the people who care about the profession for being passionate about the class they are trying to save. Please, continue to post if you feel you must, but I for one am just turning my back until you startadding something that actually qualifies as constructive imput to the problem. *waves*

As much as I hate too I would have to agree that since lauch, besides almost usless mounts, they have done notthing but take things away from us.

The thing that gets me the most is how the number of tamable pets seems to keep droping, and no pets that are near BE levels in the wild.

"Big" pets are usless as they run or keep trying to get position to attack but can't,

Stormies and NPC's that run...................................................far.............................away from pets and don't seem to stop.

Ihave hope that this will change.

In PvP we were basically unkillable (well, our pets were) because PCs had crappy armor/weapons/no buffs and our pets chewed through the Imp/Rebel ranks. So everyone cried NERF the CH.

The developers have some odd belief that they actually know what they are doing with this game but with every decision the player base does something that they didnt predict...IE Jedis everywhere, people grinding, AFK macroing, etc..

Thus the first great Nerf (remember the mask scent exp nerf) in terms of classes was to the CH. They gutted the class but it was still effective in certain aspects of the game.

HOWEVER the thing that killed the game for most every class (whether you pvp or just pve) was the addition of Buffs, Great armor, and Jedis.

Those three things have bascially destroyed SWG.

Now if you wanna make tons of cash just grind away to get your Jedi as there are no penalties anymore.

Now if you wanna be a PVP god just get your Jedi as there are no death Penalties anymore (and no BH can stand up to a Jedi)

Now if you wanna be a PVE god just get your Jedi as there is nothing that is LS resistant and they can mow through any "content" easily.

Take away the Buffs and armor and maybe CH will be wanted again.

I agree, they started the nerfs long ago, long before they should have, because the other classes hadn't come into their own yet, but CH's were out there and the class worked and had less bugs then most of the other combat professions. They killed the Probots, didn't nerf them, killed them. ..and with no armour, no decent weapons, no buffs, no brandy, and no droids, etc, having a pet to 'tank' was all there was! Any wonder that everyone did it?

One last point that I don't see mentioned is actually the biggest contributor to the decline and 'nerfage' of the CH profession. That point is that the PvP guys.. gals.. just don't like fighting against someone's pet, they want to fight other players, and they absolutley, positively, don't want to lose to someone's pet. Besides the fact that they ripped the guts out of DE's and took too long to introduce speeders, etc.. and had the expected result of seeing pets everywhere, the one big thing that killed us was the distaste that PvP people have of fighting a pet and especially losing to a pet. So, I wouldn't count on pets ever being anything more than show and tell objects. Whether we like it or not.

If I were to guess at anything that we might ask for and receive, is for more variety in pets, giving us some of the rares that were taken away, so we can complete our show and tell collections.

Simply, I do not understand how anyonethink CH can be viable in PVP? I have always seen this profession as a support profession. Man... this makes no sense... and my post makes no sense, noone will agree (but 1 or 2 ppl), this is not the right forum to post such kind of things...

Ok I have been wondering this for a while. What support (in PVP and PVE you can answer seporatly does our profession provide? I would prefer to hear of a good support role. Tanking is possible but many other templates can do that much better than we or our pets can. I know we can group with people and our pets to get higher level missions for the group. So what other useful support can we provide?

Well, first I'll say that in the meantime, I changed my mind on this issue
I still don't think this is a big issue, but it is one, now I agree.

Now, to your question... ehm... lol I don't know what I can answer.
My actual template is now MCH, M Pistoleer and a few medic skills. In this template, I use my pets for support: they guard me, they run into combat, attracting the ennemies and I shoot them down.
Since the beginning, I always thought CH as only combat profession is not viable neither PvP nor PvE (unless you want to throw in your pets and wait for hours...). I guess this is why I am saying CH is a support profession. You need to choose another combat profession, otherwise it takes hours and x pets to take down the mobs and their lair.

Does this make sense?

What would make CH more appealing would be if pets, when buffed, could actually be stored and have the buff stay. That means you could buff your pet in say Coronet, go to Endor and in a DWB group be able to pull out the pet (which is buffed) and ahve it live a bit longer.

This would help out with the idiocy of autostore, which basically erases buffs if the critter poofs back to the datapad for whatever reason, and it's more random than it's ever been. For example, I'll call out a creature, group it with the PA buff bots in the PA hall, the other members of the PA are in the group out doing the group solo thing. I tell the pet to stay. It doesn't move, doesn't cross a server boundary, but at random it will simply poof back to the datapad. No reason.
