Thread: Devs why do you hate us so??
Well, that is indeed pretty close. I wouldn't call those posts insulting but I suppose thats a judgement call. Clearly in both cases he is refering to the idea that you can instantly summon the pet equating that with how pokemon are called from their pokeballs (I quite like the pokemon game boy game. ) He also refered to the manuver as poke-style as opposed to the CH players as being pokemon masters. Still they have the word poke- in relation to the CH class in some fassion. (I searched for pokemon specificaly not thinking to search for just poke.)
I don't realy see how either of those posts demonstrates that TH or the devs in general hate all creature handlers. Anyhow well done on finding those, in return I will rest any arguments in this thread for what thats worth. Please continue thinking the Dev's hate you and raise your complaints however much you like. I'm sure it will lead to wonderful changes to CH any day now.

On the search thing, Pokemon was an filtered word because it was so commonly used to insult CH. The board decided to filter it out and not allow it. It got the same filter as profanity and appeared, in message, like swear words do in cartoons. That alone speaks volumes. The fact that a customer service rep from SOE would refer to a class as such is about on par with a banker saying we do not give mortgages to dumb N,S,J, <insert racistst sexist slur here>
TH played the game a short time. It was probably a job prerequisit. He played almost pure combat professions. I suspect he got creamed by a CH. It was the only working profession at the time and easy to master. His recent comments suggest he loves the twitch style of combat now.
From release to December were were, litterally, nerfed in every publish. He said people should not be able to "Dabble" in CH and the skill tree was totally, and I mean totally, rewritten to prevent it. Think about that for a second. They took the time to totally rewrite the skill profession of one profession from scratch. They moved any useful abilities into level 4 or master. They changed the amount of xp you get as a CH to be less than the amount of combat xp you get with other professions. Can you name me another profession you can not "Dabble" in to get some benefits of that profession?
They have let game stopping bugs, I mean bugs they introduced with a release, continue indeffinately. We went a month being totally unplayable. The response from TH was that some pets were cowards. This was the bug that caused our pets to run away any time we decided to use them. Finally, the outcry from the general player base got so loud that they fixed it. Non-ch still used pets back then.
Now the general player basesee where the focus of the Devs are. It is the Jedi. The marketing people like the pictures. Want to know why we have a 15 second timer to call pets? It was a quick and easy fix to one exploint that was possible. You see they can not figure out the pets poofing problem. It was no big deal to them when it only affected CH. Then with vehicles came the Uber FOTM did not want to spend skill points to make a camp to call his Swoop when it poofed. Thus, the camp requirement went bye bye because it was a quick and dirty fix. It is known as a cheap workaround in the profession. The problem with the fix was they used the same code to call ATST's as they used to call creatures and vehiclesbecause of this quick get done mentality. They were worried that an Imp bounty hunter would approach a leveling Jedi with a Novice Scout tag and with a PF key or two go to a comp armored BH with an ATST. Notice how long it take you to equip your weapon and put on armor?
I could go on but I am getting tired of it. Name a profession you can not Dabble in? Hell, with publish 10 they have told us we can "Dabble"with the force. Name a profession that has had all of the requirements, including the skill tree redone to discourage people from having it. Sort of the reverse of the Jedi. Guess which profession was the first one to be "Combat Rebalanced" and then they did not do the rebalance. It has been 7 months. I guess the Marketing people told them everyone else would quit if they did to them what they did to the CH. We are the lab rat profession now. They come up with an idea apply it to the CH and monitor how many die. Then they decide if it is safe. lol

I give 24 hours for this post to be deleated, but in the mean time some facts:
Every patch has taken something away from our profession or caused a horrendious bug, or made one worse, save 1 the introduction of mounts in november.
The benefit of that 1 lone patch was removed by the following patch where vehicles were introduced.
Yes you did remove the camp requirement to call pets but not for us, we are all scouts, you did it cause you couldn't fix the autostore problem and it effected everyone with vehicles.
Our pets are next to useless, Our class hated and abused by the majority of the player base, our economy and that of the BE was destroyed.
You now make it so that we are the only Profession that has a additional weakness toward the jedi.
Yes Jedi are a part of Star Wars Mythos, but so are we.
Of the professions you have only are in the films
Riflemen, pistoleers, Carbineers :soldiers and stormies
Smugglers : Lando and Han
BH: Boba Fett (need I say more)
Pikeman: Jabba's Guards
Medic, Doc, Combat medic: 2-1B and others
Dancers, Musicians: Jabba's Palice and the Cantinas
Artisans: all over the cities
and yes devs
Creature Handlers:Malakili- The rancor Tamer, Who trained all the mounts you saw?
Why are we one of the Cannon Professions so abused and neglected by you?
Yes you acknowledged we need help and yet instead of help you toss another reason not to be a CH our way.
Why?
Why do we have to be "balanced" against a scrapped plan for 1 year (Because we know it won't be till december till your combat revamp has any chance of going live seeing you haven't even started testing it yet).
Why?
I don't expect an answer to do so would invite you to be flamed because we all know that not a constructive person exists on these boards or so you think.
I hope you are lurking and reading this before garva or jessa wave thier magic deleate key. Cause I think this summerises how a lot of us old time creature handlers feel.
And yes though I gave up Master I am still a CH. Why cause this is the only profession I cared to really master. I though mounts and pets would be cool. I still think they are. Too bad you don't share my feelings, but a lot of your customer base does.
Great post, completely agree.

Your wealth of ingorance astounds me sir.
I am actualy a database application developer not a marketing professional. TH doesn't actualy call the shots in the game design if you hadn't noticed, and I doubt your claim he refered to CH as the pokemon profession into Zen something or another. Perhaps you could direct me to that post so I can applogise for doubting you.
If you bothered to read my posts you would learn I'm a Master CH and have been so for 6+ months now. Its the only profession I didn't ever give up while holo-grinding or just messing around with other professions. It happens to be my favorite profession in the game. I would never call my character 733+ , currently a CHM / BEM / Pistoleer. I'm not going anywhere, I happen to like this game and the CH profession very much. I realy cant figure out whats so amazingly terrible about being a CH. Its not as uber as other combat professions but its twice as fun. So I can get my but kincked by a jedi or whatever. The horror!

I don't need facts, I have logic and statement. No dev has ever posted saying they hate CH. Its stupid to think they hate any perticular class, simply rediculous. Why whould they hate a class? Does it make them more money? Increase job satisfaction? Its childish paranoid ranting. Do they have other priorities at the moment? Hell ya they do. Welcome to reality and time management.
Well, spoken like a true management/marketing professional. lol I do not need facts, I have my own "logic." lol You will go far kid. As some one that has been in the management/marketing/customer service business for over 30 years, let me suggest this might not be the best attitude.
Oh, a little history lesson. TH himself referred the the CH profession as the Pokemon Profession that is into some Zen thing he did not understand. He also shares your opion of not letting facts get in the way of his "logic." He also said "We will never allow a character to be able to cuts swaths through opposing players in PVP." Then they gave us Jedi and Combat Medics. lol
You and your FOTM "logic" should pay attention to a few facts. When paying customers are unhappy, they do one of two things. They complain. Note if you tell a paying customer they are whining.... Well auto mechanic comes to mind or maybe garbage collector. lol Or they take their business elswhere. Neither is a very good business plan. We just lost another well know CH. He quit. We are averaging about one or two a week. With this new publish, I suspect that all you l33t dudes will be leaving too. Now that a Jedi can farm your 133t characters for xp. You know it is not referred to as whining in the GCW Forum or any of the other combat and alot of crafting forums.
I am here to back up what he said, I too also read everything MrHawat said TH has said in the past. I have been a MCH since the first month of the game, it is the only profession I too have never given up. I was about to this last few weeks but it is the ONLY profession keeping me in the game anymore, so for now I am enjoy what little of it I can.
When you call a pet, there will be a delay until it comes out.
When you store a pet, there will be a delay before it dissappears.
This is to prevent a myriad of combat griefing. Basically it is so people can't be surprised in duels, PvP and other situations where a "surprise pet" can create unfair "poke-type" attacks.
Justification for 15 second call timer despite these cases already handled:
Correct. That was one and there were others. You could store pets right before they died and also do things like get into a duel with someone and then whip out a pet and other "suprise!" poke-pet maneuvers.
There was also the little "Some pets are cowards" response that blew us off when we pointed out that they completely borked the AI melee distance with Publish 6. It took two weeks to (barely) acknowledge that we were crippled into unplayability and another two to patch it, which in turn broke wild pets ability to use ranged attacks.
Mind you this was in the Live Discussion thread that asks us to report bugs.
(I would have posted the link but too many searches...)
