Thread: Why do so many CH's scoff at BE pets?
I have visited more empty BE vendors than all other vendors I've visited combined (all other vendors, not all other empty vendors). The BE vendors that actually have something on them are either wildly overpriced, have pitiful selection, or both. In my galaxy-wide search of BE vendors, with me hitting every vendor listed on the map and wandering into random houses looking for more, I've found three or four vendors worth actually browsing.
I gave up asking BE's about custom pets after the umpteenth "I don't do pets" or "check my vendor" (which has 7 kaadus, a level45 graulfor 225k, and a level 85 kimogila for 4 million). Now I just keep wandering into random houses and hoping.

LOL, actually i find that quite funny rather than being painful. I cant believe he paid that much lol. BE pets crap? err ok. sentiments aside and looking at it only from a pratical point of view, BE pets are better than those that you can find in the wild. their only disadvantage is not being able to have AoE specials or 75% kinetic like the merek harvester but, they can have good all rounged stats and a combo special that can work well off with another BE pet so you can totally debuff your target at the get go.
I think its a choice, no one is forcing you to use BE pets. you dont have to. and, you dont have to buy the pet from a particular BE. its a free market. you have the option to shop around.

As a CH I have never had anything against BE's, but I do believe CH's should have some pets in the wild that are worth taming in being nearly as good as can be made by BE's, but as it is even the Rarest of the rares (read: Bull Rancor) is not that great. If BE's were as they are now, and creatures were reverted to their stats from before the December nerfing, I think everything would be alright as BE's could still make better pets yet CH's tames would be worth while. The December castration of our class is where most of our animosity comes from I think.

I was a BE before becoming a CH, so nearly every pet I have has been custom made through BE. I can relate to what you guys have said about the thrill of taming animals in the wild. That's the same thrill I get sneaking up on a beast and getting that very high quality sample of DNA.
I withdraw my comparison of a creature vs. a pistol, that view can change depending on who you ask. Coming from a BE's point of view an animal is a weapon. Coming from a CH point of view an animal is a companion.
I also agree that BE pets can be ridiculously expensive. It's because BE's can't just set up an extractor like most classes and get the materials they need to make a pet. They have to sink time and money into ship tickets, sneaking up on the creature, and then crossing your fingers and hoping you don't get the critical failure message. There's not much that can be done about that. A BE becomes attached to his creations much like a CH does, there is a story behind each one.
There is definitely something wrong with the relationship between CH and BE. The main problem seems to be that a lot of a CH's skills are based on taming an animal, and buying a BE pet trumps that skill.
I myself am kinda pissed about that, I became a wookiee so that I would have an edge on taming creatures only to have that bonus be moot.
Here's what I've gathered as the major problems:
CH's don't get that "thrill" of taming a BE creature.
BE pets can be very expensive.
BE pets make a CH's taming skills basically useless/
Does that sound about right?
I will give this commitment. I will find anyone that is interested a pet with ar1 and 60 kinetic at CL 40 or less on any server for 100k or less.

Furthermore, I am willing to bet that I can work a trade for you if you do not have the money.

The lower the CL of course allways the better.
I dont hate BE pets. I own a lot of them. What I hate is being forced to purchase your pets or a weak CH with wild pets. If your creations were not so out of balance from the wild pets we have to select from , even our RARES, you might not see any complaints.
As it is now, a Bull Rancor gets his butt handed to him by a BE pet that has 60% Kinetic with strong disease and posion. Bull Rancors are the most rare pet in the game, yet is worthless when compared to a BE? This is why people are upset. I dont blame them.
I'll will always use BE pets, but I would like the opportunity to find something of value in the wild. As of now, I can't.
