Thread: Why do so many CH's scoff at BE pets?

I sell as many pets as anyone on lowca. I have 60 pets on the vender now. I have only sold one pet over 100k.

I sell Level 35 pets with ar1 and 60 kinetic for 60k andwill trade it to any CH that does not have the money. Like for 4k Dath insect meat or many of the other meats we require. I also buy any meat that anyone brings for 3 cpu or more if it is not junk, thenturn around and sell it for 3 cpu on the resource vender after combining stacks.

What server are you on? If there is that much profit to be made, why are there no BE's?

I am on Ahzi. I have yet to see a pet that I'd like to use that was priced under 450000. I go to the shops people rant about in Coronet, and the stuff is embarassing to say the least. I'm sure there is a reasonable BE shop somewhere... I just haven't found it.

This is in NO way disrespecting the BE community. I think it's a nifty class. I just haven't found a reasonable shop on my server.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that when BEs finally got some love from the devs, they were given the ability (erroneously) to create creatures non-CHs could control that previously only advanced CHs had access to. The ridiculously high HAM CL 5 things that have been out and running about.

Also, and I don't expect anyone but a CH to understand this, half of the fun is going out and taming the pet yourself in the wild. It's just not the same clicking on a deed and having the pet materialize in front of you. Finding your pet, creeping up on it, stealing it from out from under the noses of its parents, and then training it and watching it grow are a major part of what makes CH fun.

Embrace the BE pets. Personally I'm a BE and a CH and for PvE I use a CL18 narglatch (10khealth, 60kinetic, 370dmg, strong poison, blinding attack) and a CL22 Choku (11khealth, 60kinetic, 390 damage, dizzy, knockdown).

oops... hit reply to soon. this is also one of the reasons i don't. these uber pets are bullsh(i)t, and i refuse to ever use one. the only creature i have that has close to 60 kinetic is my gapoing spider queen, and she is level 47. the fact that your pet is that strong at level 18 sickens me. it takes the enjoyment out of the game in my opinion. that is why i scoff BE's.

If you have a shop on Ahzi that has quality at reasonable prices (and no... 10k for a good 69 pet isn't fair either... they have to make some money too), by all means leave a waypoint.

that's just silly. this is Star Wars you know. one of the star wars movies is called "Attack of the clones." how can using bio engineered pets POSSIBLY be counter to RP. maybe it's counter to your particular character, but it certianly fits the environment this game is set in.

as for price, I haven't payed more than 100k for any of my pets. and most of them are level 33-35 light armour 60% kinetic or thereabouts.

I too enjoy the hunt, and only 5 of the 22 pets in my datapad are BE made. but I must admit, those 5 see the most use (because they're the best). every once in a while I pop out my gaping spider recluse for area poison, or just because it looks badass. but my staple fighting force is BE made (a 60% kinetic +light armour pair of gurrecks for PvM and a 50% energy +light armour pair of gurrecks with ranged attacks for faction PvE)

now if only a BE could make something that does suck in PvP. sure could use a pet that doesn't suck in PvP. (used to use a pair of riverside sulfur mynocks, but now they suck, so trying to find a mantigrue screecher)

heya all, just thought i chip in. I have 2 chars, one of which is a MCH and the other a MBE. As a CH i enjoy going out and finding a baby i want to tame more than i do hunting for credits. And i think that if your still a CH after all thats been done to us as a class then your prolly in it for the same reason as me. It is about pride in critters we have and the stories that go with them. I chased a widow baby all around endor as she visited her various cousins that spawned around her, all of which were happy to break mask scent for me. LOL it only took me two attempts to her, but took 45 mins for me to get those 2 attempts off. So now i have a nice little widow baby that grew into a happy adult. I havemore than a few pets in my datapad that are there because i like them, not because of how effective they are. Also in my datapad i have my champions, my true warriors. Creatures created by my alternate for one purpose alone, hunting and killing and being as effective at it as possible. As a BE i'm not trying to the fun out the CH profession, i'm not saying anyone should stop taming wild pets and just come to me, i'm saying when you want a pet bred for one purpose, one task, go see a BE and he will give you that. It's so odd that two professions that have so much to benefit each other have such a dislike for one another. I truly wish there were more effective, or better, or however you would like to phrase it, pets that could be tamed in the wild, but there aren't. Because of this i have no problem getting my hunting team from a BE none at all. It's not the BE's fault that we dont have better things to tame in the wild, but it is the BE's who provide us with those better pets.

On a side note, the cl 18 and 22 pets that were mentioned above are quite fantastic clones, they honestly are. I will tell you all honestly that wouldIsooner make cl 60 and above day after day then try one attempt at those pets. To get those stats on that lvl is a tedious task that to this point has always backfired on me and left me clones that became decorations in my house.

And for anyone on Corbantis who is looking for a nice BE pet, my alternates name is Bolvrei and i will be happy to help any or all you get a pet you want. High or low level, whatever you like. As for sampling mutant rancors, i dont mind it much, if they don't cooperate i hit a few with my pike, that straightens em all out.

Just thought I'd chime in too. I've been a MasterCH since around September and besides what others have stated, I would also have to say that I can't find any BE vendors with good pets at reasonable prices. What very few vendors I've been able to find that actually have any pets most are either crappy or way overpriced (like 250k+). I've acutally gone thru all the BE vendors listed on planets and visited each systematically looking for pets and this is what I run into, on Gorath at least. As I don't like to bother people, I don't go sending tells to BE's as I know they're busy enough and it would be a hassle for me as well, would rather be able to look on vendor and pick from a selection.

A few weeks ago, I started working a secondary character on Bria to become a BE/CH in large part to see what BE's go thru and what can be made. She is now up to 2,0,4,2 in BE and I must say I am really enjoying the profession. The sampling DNA is quite compareable to what is most fun about the actuall taming in the wild by CH.

As a CH I have never had anything against BE's, but I do believe CH's should have some pets in the wild that are worth taming in being nearly as good as can be made by BE's, but as it is even the Rarest of the rares (read: Bull Rancor) is not that great. If BE's were as they are now, and creatures were reverted to their stats from before the December nerfing, I think everything would be alright as BE's could still make better pets yet CH's tames would be worth while. The December castration of our class is where most of our animosity comes from I think.

I've been a MCH for a long time. I agree with most of the CH's comments here, so I won't add mine. I do want to mention that I know of a great place to get BE's for 31.5k apiece, no matter what stats they are. These pets vary. Some are for ranged, some are armored, some are PVP worthy. If you're interested in a waypoint send me an e-mail in-game and I'll get it to you.

As a recent newcomer to PVP I've needed to find specialized pets for that purpose. Thankfully I had the foresight to get the pets I needed before the major BE changes took place, so I have some great pets. I still enjoy the wild pets, but if you want pets designed for specific situations it's best to go with BE. OR search the wild for pets that fit the description. Bloodseeker Mites (100% heat/cold/electric, 30% kinetic) and Boar Wolf Ravagers (50% kinetic) are two examples of wild pets thatwould serve different purposes inPVP.

We can get this issue straightened out on the BE boards, I need names.. Server name and player names. I will get this workable. Trust me.

As a near master CH and near master BE let me tell you this, I have yet to make a pet for a high level CH and that includes myself. With the tissues market the way it is why should I bother? I have plenty of tailors and chefs who love my stuff and I never get any grief over it. That doesn't mean I don't make clones. I have a really nice set of great plains stalker dna I'm waiting to use when I'm a master CH. I snapped some pictures of the gps in action. They are some real cool cats, but back to the discussion. I was making non ch mounts, but since the last patch my 1st gen recipe once again no longer works. This happens with every patch so I've stopped that as well for a while until I get inspired again. Good Hunting.

I've posted this on various threads since I have BE and CH perspective. The reason you can get custom BE creatures that SEEM overpowered is because they are created with very specific goals in mind. A creature in the wild has 20,000 HAM and a BE pet has 20,000 HAM. The wild creature will have those 20,000 points spread out almost evenly among the 3 stats, while the BE will focus asmany points in health as possible. A wild creature may have a total of 60 resistance points in a variety of damage types, while the the BE pet will have those points focused in only one or two damage types (usually kinetic or energy). Walk through this with me:

A wild pet has 15k ham (5k H, 5k A, 5k M) and a BE pet has 15k HAM (10k H, 3k A, 2k M). The wild pet has 25 kinetic, 30 energy, 10 blast, vulns to stun, acid, and electricity. The BE pet has 55 kinetic, vulnerabilities to everything else.

In a player versus creature situation, the BE pet is hands-down more powerful. No questions asked.

Now, send that BE pet and the wild creature against a stormtrooper or a rebel sharpshooter. The BE pet is going down much faster than the wild creature because it WASN'T DESIGNED to fight NPCs with energy weapons, especially those that can headshot.

The BE pet isn't "overpowered" and it shouldn'tsicken/disgust/nauseate/decapitate you. If this is your reaction, then it's probably because you're only playing a narrow part of the SWG game (player versus creature--not even PvE, really, since energy-using NPCs are part of the E). If you're engaging in a wide variety of combat situations, then you know that BE pets are great for specialized situations, but only the very high CL ones are as flexible as the pets you find in the wild.

BEs are your friends! If they seem distant, frustrated, or too busy for you, it's likely because you're the tenth person that day to ask for a CL 23 pet with armor, high health, and 60% kinetic resists. Like CHs, BEs like variety in their lives, too! CHs have the pain of travel and trying to find rare babies; BEs have the frustration of poking mutant rancors with long needles, then risking all that cloning and decay for a critical failure when the cloning happens. Everyone's life is hard!
