In my view, the developers have earned no respect, and have no right to expect to be greeted with anything but cynicism, suspicion, and alarm.

They have done nothing to justify player trust or patience.

That is the price they pay for their previous behaviour. If they want the community to respond better, they need to start working better, and just "grin and bear it" through our rash "hissy fits". People's behaviour will change only if they improve their processes and make the game better, not just broken in a different way. You cannot tell players who have been beaten and abused for 2 years to "be patient and let them do their thing" when that is what has just gotten us beaten down in the first place.

You can only whip a dog so many times before he eventually bites you in retailation. So stop telling us to "take a chill pill". I'm going to continue to take them to task over ANY change until they prove there is no good reason to.

I have heard it both ways not sure which it is.

1. I hear the pets will not have inate abilities that I get it makes sense to some point.

2. Some people tell me already trained pets are not showing on the xp system the new pets have. This would mean you could not slot up an old pet. The pet would be perpetually barred from getting any of the new abilites.

So both are not irreconcileable. The question is though will old pets be allowed to slot up like the new ones will and gain new abilities. If not they will all be neutered, and every CH will have to dump their entire inventory.

Orb surely you feal the pain this might cause I cry in terror at loseing my 8700k health torton myself he cost me 300k.

If existing pets show the XP meter but aren't actually taking XP that sounds more like a bug to me :/.

We haven't said not to trust the devs or not to hate them. All we said is wait till its all out in the open before making a full assumption what it is going to be.

Mostly what Drash, others, and i myself are trying to do is dispealany false rumor. We are trying to give you the facts of what is happening. Spouting out rumors and jumping to conclusions right now is not helping the community as a whole but causing more mass panic that truly could be totaly false and end up hurting us more than it will ever help.

Don't condemn the desert when all we have so far is the appitizer. yes, SWG hasn't been the greatest and had seen more than its share of crap.

In my opinion, it looks like the system is coming out with something that will work and make CH a great profession. But this is on TC and its only been day 3 now of testing what we gotten so far of the new system. This time they hadn't thrown out the baby with the bath water and said live with it. This time its more of a lets get the bath set up right so it will come out clean instead of all soap and still covered in dirt.

I don't blame you for being mad. But please don't take start biting everything that moves. Wait till we have the whole story first. It might be what you been needing to start restoring your faith in the game. But it could also be the nail in the coffin. But lets just stay in a holding pattern before we go nuts.

I got plenty of credits so thats not a problem for me, however many of us have spent a very very very long time looking for rares such as the bull rancor (for any other non-CH lurkers in the time it took to fint a Bull Rancor (baby)pre-CU you could grind 2 Jedi from FS to Jedi Knight or more if you were power grinding). So if the rarest of the rares can have the best specials then you expect us to look for a year or more to find a baby then have a chance of it not even having the ability we want? I agree that this is all speculation at this point, but it does need to be adressed.

(copy-paste of my post from the In Testing forum)

Here are my testing results from my first night on TC-Bria:

1. Bug - Wild pets do not have any display for Training Abilities, Training Points, or Training XP in the datapad (bio-engineered pets, however, do)

2. Possible Bug - Perhaps related to #1, there was no indication that my freshly tamed (in this play session) wild pets were gaining experience when I used them to successfully fight and defeat creatures of higher level than the pet.

3. Clarification Needed - None of the wild pets that I tamed tonight started out with any innate abilities. Not sure if this is buggy or due to bad luck on my part. The pets tamed were all from Endor:

  • blurrg hunter
  • blurrg sand crawler
  • borgle life sapper
  • hanadak drifter
  • hilltop gurreck hunter

4. Bug - Wild pets do not have any display for most of the "Attributes" section that is visible on BE pets. Specifically the following information is unable to be seen:

  • Armor Effectiveness
  • To Hit
  • Defense Value
  • State Resistance
  • Critical Hit Chance
  • Critical Save Chance
  • Aggro Bonus
  • Ranged Attack
  • Special Attack1 and Special Attack2 (do these even mean anything post Publish 21?)

5. Bug - Unable to see most relevant creature information on Examine. Resists, Damage, Special Attacks, etc cannot be seen by Scouts as they once could.

6. Bug - The /pet command is no longer hooked up to the emote. Typing /pet now triggers /petBleedAttack

7. UI Bug - The new /petxxx commands display code strings when you attempt to use them on a mount/vehicle. "You cannot cmd_n[petbleedattack] while Riding a Mount."

A few side notes. I was aggroed by a baby handak drifter, and was able to successfully tame it after shaking aggro (the tame option was available to me). The baby itself spawned as part of a lairless pair of hanadak drifters, so I'm not sure if this indicates the new "babies can spawn in the first wave" code is going to working for things like the great plains stalker. I passed about six Stoneskin Hanadaks (single spawn, no lair creature) without seeing a baby.

I didn't experience the issue where pets stop attacking a stationary enemy at melee range. Hopefully that means it's fixed.

Will try to do some more testing tomorrow.

I made a bunch of pets for my CH on TC but couldn't log him in due to login server issues. I did tame a non-ch razor cat. Under training in the stats window it said 0/142000.

The 142000 is the amount of pet xp the pet needs to gain training points to learn new abilities. The 0 is the amount of pet xp the pet currently has.

Once the pet reaches 142000 the animal can be taught something new. The counter resets to 0 and you start gaining xp over again until you reach 142000 again, gaining more training points to learn something else new.

The 142000 number varies. One level will have a given number. A different level will have something else, higher or lower. The pet xp gained from killing animals its level or higher is pretty substantial so it isn't a long chore to gain pet abilities, which is nice I must say.

Someone reported that old pets don't gain XP on TC now, I don't have the time or the will to waste weeks harvesting more resources to get more credits to replace more BE pets, I've already done it once with the CU, no more please.....

That is certainly how it should work, in my mind. Appaerently xp is not working for existing pets at the moment though. I believe I saw a deve post that said that was something they acknowledge and would look at. (for what that's worth)

Personaly I don't care if my existing pets start with abbilities, so long as they can learn new ones, I'm cool with it.

Actually im thinking that full grown ol pets (be or wild) will be able to get xp and be taught new abilities as normal. They just wont be given any FREE abilities. Thats how im reading it anyways.

I know. No blue frogs on TC bria, so Vobak, my MCH on test center, levelled up in jan/feb 2004 specifically to test the CH changes TH announced would be coming at that time is useless.

To say I am annoyed is an understatement. If it needs testing on a bigger database then thats fine by me, but dont lock everyone out of the testing process.
