Thread: Please Store your pet
Of course this doesn't work if you have some pet you just have to grind to get the ability from... in which case i try to grind with guildies who are more understanding.
Yes please troll some where else with the 'don't troll here' stuff or 'my pet really likes you'. The original poster clearly stated it was in the vette, not an exp group. Reading helps make people not look stupid. So why did you bring up exp groups? Trolling maybe, most likely a reading comprehension problem brought on by low IQ syndrome. How people target can be different in different situations. Exp groups is just one case.
In the case of the vette the super battle droids need to be targeted quickly. Tab does not work well since there are many targets close by. Also you don't have time to screw around, you need to target quickly and do damage quickly or be killed. This is why the pet was an issue.
Players are not going to change how they play to accommodate someone else's pet that does basically nothing for the group. That is the issue and goes straight to the heart of why pets are not welcomed in groups. Just because someone else may work around the targeting issue does not mean others will. Their solution to the targeting issue is clear, no pets allowed. Feeling that is a stupid reason will not change this from being the case however. Doing a personal educational campaign to explainthe different ways totarget while there is a pet is useless. Pets don't do enough for the group to justify a change in game play. The current solution is to get rid of the pet. We as CHes do need a better solution that will be acceptable to other group members. What we don't need is silly jokes or denial ofthe problem.
One thing no-one has mentioned is the current abilty to chain-heal pets with pet-stims (probably a bug - but possibly not
).
That aside - I'm afraid people who complain about my pets spoiling aim, being useless, etc, etc. to my mind are just displaying a certain level of ignorance. Usually thisis a prelude to me havingto run the macro writing course, explain "/assist", how to hotkey, and leaves me wondering how many players grind without learning the finer points of the game...............
Well Meplorium sometimes you just need a good sense of humor to make it through the day...you should try it sometime.
You look like a guy who has been around for a long time.....its narrow minded game players such as yourself that suck the life out of new ideas and game play.
I don't need a lesson from you on taking issues serious....this issue really deserves a none serious answer...its a game...if I want to pull my pet out in the corvette and someone gets in my face to store it then they will most certainly get the replay I posted earlier...they either laugh or leave. I have grouped with more players in this game that add less value than my pets and I have never asked anyone to leave group. Yes we all understand the bigger issues of the game but that's what our coorespondant is there for please feel free to release some of that pent up anger and give him all your finer points regarding the serious issues.
You kill me ....LOL....come on LAUGH it's fun...ohh say it with me "its just a game...its just a game"
If it isn't targeting then what is it? Please do add something useful to the conversation.
Being the 'jerk with the pet' in the group will score you no points. Yes the problem is halfway theirs for not being able to play the game better. However even those that can play like that often find just using the mouse easier. It is a game after all, why make it more complicated than it needs to be. Hence why people don't like pets. The usability of pets do need a lot of work. This is just one of many issues.
I agree. I've been in groups before where people complained about pet, but I'm usually grouped with friends, so its kind of a half-joke thing. Fact is, pets are NOT useless in groups, neither before or after publish 21. My 3 nargs before the publish could out-dps me. I'm a Master Fencer, and at the time, I was using a Blade of Nyethi'Oris, so I could deal damage as well as pretty much anyone except Riflemen. Now, with the abilities, pets are even more handy in groups, whether for tanking, damaging, or putting state effects on your enemies. As a side note, those friends of mine that complained about the pets a few times, stopped complaining after a few lairs, where the pets picked up and tanked adds that could have wiped us.
I hate to kind of go off-topic, but I think this kind of applies to the same thing as the original post, as it involves the same kind of attitude. Has anyone else noticed that alot of people consider it unfair to use pets in a duel? I hear this alot, and it bugs the crap out of me.It's like people think that pets are just gravy, just something extra. I mean......what the crap, without CH, I'm a level 54 with a buffed HAM bar. Its not like I ask a doctor to stop healing or buffing himself, or that I ask a double melee master to find a way to debuff his extra defense.
Meplorium wrote:Click on mob and you target exactly what you want the first time. Hit tab, most likely get something else. Hit tab too fast and go right past the mob you are trying to hit. Tab is slow and not too useful for the most part so many people rarely use it. Otherwise tab would be a work around. The other work around is just not having the pet there at all, which is what is obviously perferred.
Assist works just fine for me, even when targeting a pet. When it doesn't work is when the person you are assisting off on targets something else or nothing at all to heal. This happens very often. You do a very short target on the group leader to find the mob with the grey box then quickly target that mob with the mouse, not the tab. Tab takes too long. This is how the game is played.
Targeting a pet rather than a mob should be in the CH issues list given to the devs. Pets simply don't contribute enough to the group for any pet annoyances to be tollerated. Again pet sucking should be in the CH issues list given to the devs. Once pets aren't annoying and help the group, then Fluffy will be welcomed into the group with many /pet.
Most of the grind groups I've been in lately, after a while working a lair you can't see anything but dead bodies and hair and trying to mouse-click to target the next critter is just not an option. Then TAB is the only thing that works. It usually goes like this. The ranged dudes stand in one place and do the pulling and tanking. The melee dudes and medic/Doc/CM-whatever stands close by. After a while that pile of bantha poodoo is so high you see nothing but hair, and TAB-targeting is the only option. If the ranged dudes starts moving around to actually see something, the melee dudes will start to screem bloody murder because they can't get in on the action.

It's probably against gurks actually.
That's actually not as popular on other servers Ive seen (only 2 others recently). The Gurk thing hasnt taken off other places like it has on starsider.
I am lucky and am in a Guild that has about 3 current MCH's and about 3/4 of the members were at one time a MCH, so pets are always welcome.
Only once recently did I get a request to store a pet, had the lurking shear mite. They told me spiders freak them out and the "Giant Spider" was really freaking them out LOL. I and a couple others explained it was a blood sucking mite, but that seemed to REALLY freak them out ROGL. So I stored and brought out the kitty, and they thanked me.
If a pet is controlled properly, and the group knows how to function as a group (how people arrange themselfs, who draws agro, etc,) and the pets aren't playing commando with AOE's, there is no reason not to have one out.
I would respectively ignore the first request, then if asked again, state I heard them the first time, and no I do not plan to put pet away. If the person kept making comments, I'd ask the group if they cared, if so, I'd leave the group and not join those people again.
