Creature Handler Archive
Thread: Please Store your pet
But I think telling the person that they should put away their gun (or whatever) is a good idea.
I even took 2 fambaas into a group yesterday and got no complaints. (although I was kind of expecting some since they shake the ground when they walk and attack)
Most people understand that a creature handler reaquires creature hadndling to have any effectiveness at all with combat.
If someone wants you to store a pet for no reason, I'd just ignore him.
I've been seeing quite a bit of this with a few of my pets lately. Usually it's me trying to target the mob to tank for my pet though. I haven't really been in a group situation since the patch yet but thanks for the heads-up.

The problem is that the CH has what ever the pet is attack already targeted. You have to in order to order an attack. Other memebers in the group may not, even if a few do and are already shooting. Even a small pet between you and the target generally gets targeted before the mob, even if the mouse is right over the mob and not the pet. It becomes very frustrating when this happens. People want/need to join the fight and need to get the mobtargeted. Pets aren't respected because they don't do a whole lot of damage while the player will. Simply put the pet is a distraction and hurts the group more than it helps. Your gun or not, the pet is a liability.
Theoretically, gaurd could be used. But it's not uncommon for groups to have more than one tank.
A /guardgroup ability would be a fabulous thing.

It works, and it works very well unless the leader is doing an AOE. Then it's harder to get that one hit on each MOB. My question is why are they using the mouse to target the MOB. They could just as easily use the tab button.
Amen to this answer, you took the WORD out of my mouth to the "your pet is in the way" bs. That word TAB, I mean how else are your going to get a piece of anything in a group grind, just keep hitting your tab fire one at whatever's health is rapidly depleting, to use the mouse to target is counterproductive. So to the argument that the pet gets in the way by (from the signature) a nonCH I say, fooey.
Click on mob and you target exactly what you want the first time. Hit tab, most likely get something else. Hit tab too fast and go right past the mob you are trying to hit. Tab is slow and not too useful for the most part so many people rarely use it. Otherwise tab would be a work around. The other work around is just not having the pet there at all, which is what is obviously perferred.
Assist works just fine for me, even when targeting a pet. When it doesn't work is when the person you are assisting off on targets something else or nothing at all to heal. This happens very often. You do a very short target on the group leaderto find the mob with the grey box then quickly target that mob with the mouse, not the tab. Tab takes too long. This is how the game is played.
Targetinga pet rather than a mob should be in the CH issues list given to the devs. Pets simply don't contribute enough to the group for any pet annoyances to be tollerated. Again pet sucking should be in the CH issues list given to the devs. Once pets aren't annoying and help the group, then Fluffy will be welcomed into the group withmany /pet.
Well I guess since the original poster was talking about being asked to store pets while grouped and then another poster (you) tried to explain that people don't like pets cause they can't target, I am to assume that there are alot of people in groups doing single targeting techniques?
I as a CH do not buy that as an argument ....I was pointing out that there are several ways to target other than using your mouse.
If you want to hijack the thread into a discussion of the different types of game content and how many people "grind" xp using AoE Vs people who don't...GO START YOUR OWN THREAD!
Point in this thread is for all us CHers who get asked to store pets for some odd reason or another....bottom line ...the target argument is BS...Go troll somewhere else ![]()
