Hi there, I'm a Master Ranger, working on becoming Master CH as well. I just wanted to say that I am fine with this change as long as camps are revamped and made useful. Our Ranger Correspondant has been working on a Modular Camp Proposal that would overhaul the camp system for scouts, rangers, and squad leaders. Hopefully, it will now get some serious dev attention since the current camp system will soon be worthless.

Thanks for reading.

Camps do in fact do a time heal like a medical center. It's about .5 of the medical center ability (at work and can't log for actual nimber) for the one person camp and improves with the higher level camps. I usecamps when I'm in the boonies to clear my BF, forage for food, andsurvey.

Zallus - you're suppose to be working ohh - so am I

I have to agree with the no pet calling in camps - I didn't mind using camps to do it - what I minded was wondering around for 30 minutes trying to find a place the game would let me pitch it.

Too close to lair

In a municiple zone (did you know the imperial prison is a municipal zone?)

Too near a base

Too near whatever it thinks your near when nothing is even in sight.

I will still use camps because I am quite fond of them and do use them for healing. I do hope they will modify camps to do what they intended them to do. I would still really like to pitch a tent and have it stay up so I could run back and forth to it while hunting - like a base of operations. I know rangers and scouts want the same. I gave up wanting to be a master scout when camps didn't work properly and just disbanded themselves whenever I left them. The more advanced ones need to be like portable compounds with minor defense bonuses - just like the NPC's get - then maybe Ild head back to the scout/ranger line. And while were at it - let the dang traps work on NPC's and PC's - if grenades can attack both - why not traps? Then watch all the peeps that want to be rangers/scouts. I'ld give up CH to be able to trap people (But I've been beating this horse since Beta II, even had a poll where 17 responders all agreed - hey 17 responders back in B II was a majority )

Overall - good call since camps are what they were suppose to be.

Most of the CH's I know have just enough skills to use a generic crafting tool and make thier own camps. I think the market for these is overestimated. I hardly ever see anyone camping for more than a few seconds unless it is to heal up after a big battle.

Also agree or at least do something to make camps useful. I'm MCH, Master Scout, Novice Ranger and do you know how much time I wasted making camps to get survival IV so that I could become Master Scout? Any master scout will tell you what a pain it was to get to survival IV and now you tell me it was for nothing!? There is no other practical way to get survival xp (don't even tell me fishing), so now if someone wants to become master scout they'll have to make a bunch of useless camps? Yeah, life will be a bit easier for me as CH. But I want all that time and all those resources I used making camps refunded to me LOL

First, many thanks to Vert and to TH for examining this in a thoughtful, professional manner. Outstanding!

Now, I wanted to address one of Achilles' points. I have invited entertainer friends on any number of missions. No, not folks with combat professions who are holo grinding. Actual entertainers who pursue and enjoy their professions. I invite these folks because they are good friends, and because they can add their skills to the group. In every case I can think of, they have had a great time, and folks with more combat oriented skills were glad they were there.

I agree with Achillles that this is nota common thing, but it should be. Gang, invite your entertainer friends on a combat mission. I think they'll enjoy it, you'll benefit from the mind heals and buffs, and it will give a purpose to the camps.

Sorry don't have time to read the whole thread right now, boss is nearby. If this was answered earlier sorry to repeat.

Camps do heal like a med center over time. The med rating is in the camp status. The highest Ranger camp heals at the level of a med center. And camps will heal mind wounds also over time, just not BF.

Gotta go now, boss is walking this way.
