Thread: TH speaks on Pet Calling Restrictions
Nice, but the poor Ranger/Scouts (me being one of them MCH/Ranger) now have yet another nail in their coffin. Scout/Rangers *barely* had a small economic market with selling camps, but no more. They *almost* were needed in group hunting parties for larger camps to heal/rest/etc, but why bother when you can ride to the nearest town on your speeder. They *almost* had a working track system, then came along speeders which made it useless.... err, sorry I got off subject.
Camps no longer being needed to call pets/droids/vehicles... nice, but definatleyassists the Scout/Ranger class get about as useful as a Master Image Designer. Rangers look up to IDs ya know.(Yes we can harvest, but not a great deal more then a Scout... yes we have traps, too bad they dont work... yes we have.... there I go again, sorry)
Am I incorrect in thinking there's still a substantial market for harvested hide and meat? I know I've been makingmore than a few credits selling that to the crafting folks. Particularly the more coveted resources like wooly hide or high quality herbivore meat.

its about time...
but will the change to the pet calling also include a change in the current aggro restriction where Master CHs can't call certain pets over cl 64?
Gwee - who are you talking to? This change affects everybody (including scouts/rangers) . Nobody in any profession has to throw a camp up for 2 seconds just to call a pet/droid/bike after this change ..thank god. I dont know anybody without basic scout skills so they can throw together a few kits (except when they REALLY needed to get the points back for something) .. it was nothing more than a waste of points and time, a pointless excerise without any reason or logic.
Having said that, I hope they do put some time in and come up with ways to make camps and camp kit makers more usefull. As somebody else said .. if removing this annoyance somehow 'breaks' scout/ranger then something is BADLY wrong with those professions ![]()

Yay to both Vert and TH for a positive change.
As a CH, I never bought a camp. I made them in 15 seconds, threw it down for another 10, called the pet and either left or disbanded it. Usually, no one else in the party even bothered to come in.
After a battle, though, the camp is still useful for healing. Combat with a medical droid out is awkward.
Basic Camps used a total of 15 (10 hide 5 bone) resources. Your hide market is to smiths, not camp makers. A breast plate uses, what, 60 units of hide alone? It's a minimal hit to the scout market and all CHs have the harvest ability anyway!

There is a huge market for hides (especially) and meat, the problem is far too few scouts bother to try to cater to it. I know my tailor/architect wife has great difficulty getting hold of the specialised hide types for many of her upper level schematics, but when she checks bazaar can find either none or small amounts at ridiculous prices. Stacks of 120 hide are pointless when a single chair uses 250 at a time. Scouts need to do a bit of research and target specific resource types to sell in quantity and they will make a much better living than selling camps to other scouts (who, by definition can already make their own and any market is therefore a subset of the potential market). Collect hides in stacks of 1000s, not 100s, and you will be able to set up permanent supply deals with architects and tailors all over.

Maybe you should reevaluate your choosen profession?
Thats one hell of an attitude. Maybe next time something in CH breaks everyone should just re-evaluate it and pick something else?
Yeah thats a joke and you know it. I have not heard anyone crying over it yet. The fact is we are used to this sort of stealthy and small nerf. It has been happening over the last several publishes. My point was that you have the ability with our blessing, if you can return the favor for us later...
Yes I am a CH too, so no I am not trolling... The post I am responding too was not constructive in any way. There is no need for this behavior!
As a person who has built my template specifically to be a critter harvester, this is brilliant. I can honestly say that I have used my speeder 4 times since I received it (a friend gave it to me). On the other hand, I am currently carrying 75 camps, so that I can make extended trips to the wild, enjoying days on end running around and exploring. This will free up some space in my inventory.
However, as a Master Scout/Ranger, I don't find myself marginalized or useless in any way. I can harvest better than pretty much anyone, so my income is secure. I can build brilliant camps, so I can heal in the wild - triply useful when I get diseased by something on Yavin (have you noticed that about everything on Yavin either diseases or poisons? Yeesh.). I've also managed to cap out my survival XP, simply by plopping down a camp and fishing from it, when I find a good spot. I will not stop doing this because it lets me kill three birds with one stone: Fishing to Relax, catching Fish for the BE, and Healing all my wounding, without trying.
What the Scouts and Rangers need are more and better camps. There have been wonderful ideas for things like a Hunting blind, or a relaxation area that would slowly reduce BatFat. These are things that would make them even better than they already are (and I, for one, still think that Rangers are brilliant).
