Creature Handler Archive
Thread: Controversial Question
If you see a master creature handler running around with three blurrgs out at the same time that are all CL1(0) which you know are really CL50 is that an exploit? Do you think the master creature handler knows his creature level total is 150 when the max is 70? Because you can do it and its not been fixed does that mean go ahead and do it?
People complain about master entertainers soloing kryats by getting them stuck on a heavy mineral miner. If you're going to accept one exploit you have to accept them all.
My thought is that Riona was banned for using the double slice bug, but there is still a hundred people still using her weapons...not even having a thought that it might or should be a bannable offence to use them.
I use my 0/1 Blurgg until it runs out of vitality with the same thought.

True. There's no way for the layman to tell on the double sliced weapons. A master weaponsmith I know has a theory on why weapons repairs are so problematic, even for a master weaponsmith; it's the devs' way of getting exploited weapons out of the game faster in an indirect manner. It's a shame that those who are NOT using exploited weapons are caught in the the overbroad net that is probably much easier for the devs to cast than an approach with a tighter granularity.
However, an MCH, I would hope would understand the issues involved. While I appreciate the viewpoint that "the heck with this...I'm going to hunt with three rancors, dammit" as a reaction to the bludgeoning of critters in general in publish 5, I personally wouldn't do it. It's just the way I am. It's too bald. Still, I'm not one to lecture; I use the vehicle storage exploit all the time, mainly because I got tired of paying maintenance and then watching it disappear when the storage bug struck.
I know of the bike exploit and I don't use it. I've paid maintenance on a bike just to watch it go away because of the storage bug. Even so, I don't use the bike exploit. I'm no better than anyone else. My mommy taught me long agotwo wrongs don't make a right. ![]()
I completely understand the concept of "I'm gimped so this is my retribution." The problem is people will see you with three blurrgs and just cry "nerf CH" all the louder. You set yourself up to be gimped even harder. In the end you screw the creature handlers that don't exploit.

Spazzers, after the umpteenth storage after paying maintenance and watching it vanish happen, I just tossed in the towel on this one. I exploit early and often on it now. The devs obiviously can't be bothered to plug this hole. Too busy flying their Y wings around to pay attention to the live game, I guess.
You can beat the bike repair bug by immediately storing your vehicle after a repair and calling it back out. Then, if it autostores or won't store later and you pull it back out, the problem does not occur. Since being totally pissed off about 5 times from the bug, I always store after a repair and I've never had the problem again.
(Ok, I'm off topic, so here, I'll get back on....)
As for the bug, if you have a BE bugged pet (0)1 level that you tamed yourself and you know you have the ability to handle that level of pet, you are NOT EXPLOITING. You are merely self-imposing the limits that SOE it too inept to impose themselves on these bugged pets. If you are using the pets to get over your maximum level, I'd like to know what you use them for? Are you using them for combat? Are you using them to help you pull higher level missions from a terminal (a personal favorite)? Or, are you just showing off your herd in front of the starport? If you are using them in combat (e.g. over your maximum level of control), you're exploiting. simple.Everything else, so what.
My problem with SOE is they seem to believe the Ban Stick is the only punishmentworth dealing out(at least that we hear about). The CSR's all are made out to be a bunch of draconian monsters who live to ban people and push them around. SOE has a self-made serious image problem that is largely based on fact. It's hard to improve a negative image that is accurate.
