hehe - sorry - yes, it was very very late and I obviously can't read straight at that time of night.

My apologies - although I now have 'letter-envy' because mine weren't as big and red as yours

I'm a master ch as well grinding for master bio enginer' after getting goofed around a few times by a few bio e' . Being a master ch along with bio e gives me a better insight of what pet ham and stuff should be . If i make a good pet far as ham and everything else goes and happy with it i will tame it if not i can sell off to someone else.

I still keep a eye open for wild pet's wich still hold some worth to creature handlers. I been doing some verry nice creations so far but most those are all going to bazaar for now. Once i get to the point of doing gurrecks or most of the highly wanted pets kimogilas ,rancors and so on . I will keep some of the good one's to use along side of ch.

Like if i can get two wild babies same creature type stats and so on i will get them to use for hunting a little more.

I have also looked for the rare frenzied graul babies , have found the nest's alot of times but never seen a babie spawn . Also side not to the frenzied graul nest , If you find it dont let the spawns take fights away from the nest other wise when you return to the spot the nest is no longer there . This has gone on a few times i have found and it just goes away from the area.

trying to negate the usefulness of BEs is not it.

How is allowing BE's to both clone and giving them the extra ability to modifiy existing pets negating them?

Personally, if it is just joe average pet you can find anywhere I will always buy a clone, but when I collect rares, it would be nice to have a BE alter it. I should say would always buy a clone, because until they make substancial changes to CH, I am not coming back to it.

Wow. I only recently started to read the forums, so I haven't seen this suggestion before. As an MBE I think this would be the coolest thing to happen to my chosen game profession. I would love to be able to slice pets using DNA samples. It would just add another dimension to an already interesting profession. It would also seem to help out in the "taming is useless" department.

Right on! They could be like image designers and change their color and features and maybe boost stats!

What if this ideagrew so popular among CH's that the devs reworked BE accordingly? That's what worries me, you'd haveset a precedent of having one profession dictate what another profession should be about.

I believe the BE's set that precedent already. They dictated that no CH in the wild would be better than a BE pet no matter how rare. They also dictated that no droid would be better than a BE pet no matter how difficult it was to make and how rare the required resources were. Sounds like on profession dictating what two other professions should be about. Useful food and drink requires BE tissues and the same for useful clothing. No non-BE food, drink, or clothes can be better than BE'd ones. Yep, you did alot of dictating back then and SOE listened.

I think it's a great idea. Just as there are CH's who are happy to buy from BE's (though I wonder how many do this because they don't have a choice), I'm sure there would be BE's who would be happy to slice CH pets. As has been asked before if you're given the choice then you're given the choice. I'm sure there will be CH's who will still be happy to buy your pets .. you wouldn't be the first crafting profession to have some masters who just don't do one of their lines.

The only reason BE's do not wish to slice pets is that they have 100% of the non-CH market. If they were able to slice pets that would mean that CH would control the shell of the animal in some cases while they only provided the Gene Therapy Stim.

It is purely comes down to greed and not the "fun factor" we have heard so much about. The process could be entirely the same. Sampling would still have its dangers. Mixing the complex parts would still be fun. The only difference would be the final product.

In conclusion, it is the monopoly that BE's have that they wish to protect. The only fear they could have with sharing the fun is the profit they make.

This all boils down to what type of CH and what type of BE you are and how you look at the world. I am an MCH, and I have and have tamed 1 creature in my career. A level 12 syck named Judas, and he alone got me to master CH inless than 2days at the Geo caves. That sentence right there just made half of the CH's on this forum think I'm not worth to be a CH, and guess what, your probably right, but guess what again, I am. I am probably the worst CH you'll ever meet, I train the pets my BE makes a total of two things, kill and come. I hunt the biggest ugliest things I can find and I send my pets in as nothing more than distractions and status effect dealers. My BE works doubleshifts to keep up with the demand he has for pets from me, because Vitality = 70 then pet = trashed. Don't get me wrong I do have a few take care of, but the majority are blaster fodder. The problem with this style of CH, which there are others out there like me, is that both purist BE's and purist CH's hate us.A CH who loves his pets and tames them and raises them, he doesn't want to hear about some guy who did absolutely no work to become a CH and who doesn't seem to respect the profession at all.And purist BE'shate me becauselike Dr. Frankenstien nobody wants to hear about thier creations beingsent tothe slaughter. CH is the only profession that I have seen that is that easy, and that cheap to master. Sure you can set up a macro for many of the other artisan professions and let them craft forever, but you also have to have materials to craft all those items, which means you have to take the money to buy all of them, or the time to collect all of them, you can literally master CH with only spending the cost of the ship ticket to Yavin, hell come the expansion, CH will be a free profession. Now don't get me wrong I am in no way downing the Creature Handler profession, there are plenty of CH's who busted ass to get to master and they love thier job, which is cool and I respect them, but don't knock the guys like me and the BE's who are trying to cater to us. That's the end of the rant now on to the subject of this whole post.

The idea of being able to tame a pet and take it to a BE to have it "Sliced" as we've dubbed it, is probably the only thing that would get me taming creatures, just because then I would be invovled in the BE process of my personal pets, which would in turn make me care about that pet more. Now as far as BE's boycotting "sliced" pets, why? Lets say this is how they set it up: You bring your pet to the BE and transfer it into his inventory, then you tell him what you are looking to add/change. The BE opens up his crafting menu and instead of adding up 5 samples he adds 4 samples to the creatures original DNA, then the process continues as normal, perhaps you do give the BE the option to change the color of the pet, in essence saying that the DNA transfusion has caused some sort of mutation in appearance, or not. The BE gives you back your pet, you pay up, and bam. Both the BE and the CH are happy, both make money. Hell the BE could make more money off of "slicing" a pet then selling a pet because you are using "untested materials." Of course there also has to be an adverse effect to this to not negate the pure BE made pets so you have a small vitality drop each time a pet gets "sliced", or make it temporary, like pet buffing. This could work on both levels because both type would be happy. CH's would be able to get the pets they worked so hard to tame to match up with BE made pets, BE's would still be the ones making pets more powerful without losing the power they worked so hard for, and they would still be able to make pure BE pets because there would still be plenty of CH's to lazy (read: people like me) to go tame a pet and take it to a BE.

Lastly Both BE's and CH's have to learn to respect each other. Real CH's (read: not myself) work thier asses off to become Masters. and BE's have no choice but to work thier asses off to master thier craft. You can make a macro and buy the materials to fill up 3 of the 4 of the BE skill trees, but DNA sampling is a **edit**. It takes a lot of work to get to the point where you can walk up and stick a needle in the ass of a Mutant Rancor with his family around and walk away singing. We two professions live off of each other, we have to, that's how the game was designed, and if we don't start making this stuff work, then I hate to break it to the CH's but in the end, you will lose out. BE, though there are far less BE's than CH's is a much more needed profession, because Pets are not all they do, and if CH's boycotting BE's eventually gets on the creators nerves, your not going to see them change the CH pets, your going to see them raise the non-ch pet level and screw us all. Can't we all just get along, I'll shut up now.

Codswallop!

I'd love to work with CHs as far as them selling pets goes, but I have no desire to go around 'slicing' pets. The idea sounds very boring. I like creating pets and then seeing some CH appreciate that pet and use it.

There is nothing 'fun' about slicing for a smuggler - it's a chore and most of them decline to do it. Slicing pets would be just as boring.

We don't have a monopoly - we can't do flyers, or snakes or many rares. We're there to help CHs have a choice. They don't have to choose to use us, so we have no 'monopoly'...

Purple,

You are entirely correct you do not have a monopoly on pets at all.

So let me put it this way. Let us BE and CH change roles. You make all creatures. And let us tame wild pets that are far superior to BE pets. Since you have no monopoly at all. In fact, let's change the whole BE scheme to you can create any pet CL10 with 1000 HAM, no armor and no resists.

The truth is that CH is a combat profession. We are utterly powerless to do anything better than buy BE pets. I could have 20 pets in my datapad that ARE NOT BE created. But how stupid would I be in doing that if I want to join in PvP and the GCW.

Yeah you do not have a monoply on pets. Just the functional ones. It is why all BE oppose the slicing idea pure and simple. I do not care how many Fluffy's you create for Strumpet the Entertainer. I do care how many you sell to CH and how little we are involved in taming.

We have no end game at all. Unless of course one wants to be Jedi.
