I still love my pets and would not drop CH for whatever reason, even if the pets became totally combat incpabable, so agreed with those that share that view.

My only dilemma on my CH char is what combat profession to do as I can't be master swords anymore with me definitely keeping Ranger xx3x now (made up my mind) to help with creature searching.

Will have to think about that dilemma...

Freth I can understand where you were at and where you are coming from, personally feeling burnt outmyself right now. I tried the roleplay thing last fall a type of rganised rp events with story lines that characters developed, had some fun with it.

One thing I noticed is everyone wanted to be the main character lol. Most were not happy to sit on the sidelines with regular lives and give substance to it. I tried to help fill in the gaps myself. In the end moved onto grinding a Jedi whileI waited for the curb.

Roleplaying can be fun but you need the right server, there is always the personal rp guy who travels around playing the part with no organised groups. I wish you well its hard to rp when the majority of folks around you aren't interested.

Truthfully, this comes straight from the heart here people. This has less to do with the game and any patches or upgrades being done now or in the future. its becoming an issue of trust, faith, respect, and honesty with me. Yes big buisness isn't about this stuff I know. Its the way the powers at be string everyone along like puppies looking for a treat lol. They ask for ideas, input, testing and reports. Then totally disreguard it all and do what they want with little thought to what the outcomes are. History has shown this true time and time again here.

I am tired. Tired of the lies. Tired of fighting for lost causes, Tired of hoping my favorite profession wont be broken any more and will grow in depth, Tired of being ignored after giving them what they ask for, Tired of a total lack of communication from the people who promised to improve communication and customer service, Tired of watching them increase the times it takes to do anything worthwhile ingame just to get you to play another month, Tired of the lack of content for my favorite profession while they give out paintings and lil droids, And lastly I am tired of being tired of this whole mess that started in 2003 and is still going on in 2005. History repeats itself here over and over again. My main account is active till september but I'l be gone before then. I am tired of rollercoasters and need to get off thisride.

I just hope lotr will be different in 06 lol. as for SOE. I will never sign up for a SOE product again. I am one of those loyal people that when I like something I stick with it lol. But Soe has shown its true colors. They have lost what could hav been a loyal customer for a lifetime, but we all know they don't care, This is the crux of they're largest problem. They simply do not care. And now niether do I.

I'll still be a Master CH after the CU regardless as I love it too much and would miss my pets - especially my trio of Giant Vermoks - I love those monkeys It's just too much fun to drop, sure getting rares is gonna be a whole lot tougher as you can't get an uber buff and go solo everything anymore - but it's gonna bring the game back to the fun (and frustration) of group hunting.
This was a major factor in the game for quite sometime but slowly people started to go solo and the groups dropped off.
I've not beeb on the TC so can't comment on what the CU is gonna be like but I am hopeful that grouping will be back in force and the game will become more fun

I am looking at leaving when my account expires. It has been fun, but it is just aggrivting not having any issues being looked at. I mean, what is the point of hunting for rares if you bring them out and they start chasing after Gubbers? How longhas this been going on? What has been done with it? Would it be difficult forour corr or a dev to say: 'ok, they fixed a line of code in the game so that tamed animals will no longer attack things without being told to. It will go into effect shortly, with the next hotfix.'? 3/4 of my datapad is unusable in most circumstances.

I hate seeing pets with vitality loss. That is so disturbing seeing that.

Why limit on datapad size? what is the point in it? it would seem a fair amount of people are 'sentimental' with certain pets. Why should we be so limited in our datapad size? can they change the way it says 'destroy pet'? why can't it say 'release pet'? When I am forced to 'destroy' a pet, I feel I am taking it to the pound and having it put to sleep.

Why the limited number of pets we can tame? this one has always been a mysteryto me. We all know a BE can make a much better pet than we can find in the wild, yet we are given such a small amount to choose from.

It just seems like our voices are not being heard. That just saddens me.

THe CU is a big gamble for SOE, but it may end up paying off. I personally think that some aspects of the CU are quite a step forward, and I enjoyed PvPing and testing PvE on the TC servers.

I've had many friends leave CH, including my CH mentor (you know who you are). I find that the community of veteran CHs seems to be shrinking a bit, people moving on to other professions but still ready to respec in case the CU turns out alright.

At the same time it seems that atleast on my server there has been an influx in new CHs and intrest in CH as a whole due to the CU. People have heard CH is going to be returned to their former glory, and I find myself drilled with questions whenever my tag is on. I know many people who are going to respec into CH

I feel the change is going to be very simmilar to what a lot of professions are recieving, a return from people who loved the profession, but felt it too weak to go on. Maybe these people, although CH may fail, will stay. I also see a lot more people becoming CHs or atleast keeping the tag after a bit of effort.

I've done a bit of testing on the TC, and played as a variety of professions, eventualy settling on MCH/MCarbines/NSL.

For the first time in a while I saw atleast one pet pulled in most battles, PvP or no. For all the tamers out there mask scent is greatly improved, and with the right food it should be quite possible to tame nearly anything without bieng detected, or so my experiance with my few pet rancor tamings proved.

I feel the CU has really leveled the playing field, and so far I really havn't seen any completly gimped or G-dly combat professions. This is the case with CH.

On the other hand I'll miss our old HAM system, and the CU is far too unpolished for release.

Although a step in the right direction the CU does have many flaws, including a level system that is a bit too strict, and issues with NPC AI, which obviously affects pets.

I was quite succesful with my efforts on the TC coming close to soloing a rancor lair or two (if nighsister rangers didn't spawn behind me) and for a bit it was something quite new, foreign and fun.

I feel that the Devs are probably going to fix pet specials qutie quickly, and the issue of viewing pet HAM. Intrest has peaked in CH.

After a half an hour to an hour, possibly two hours a day, I'd get tired of the CU and I'd log back on chilastra my home.

Looks like now I will have no home to return to.

Yet I will still be the poor lunatic roving CH of chilastra.

Here's what my character is all about...

He's a solitary wookiee. He travels and tames pets on different planets and gives them a loving home where he interacts with them and uses them as companions. This makes him happy. He also likes to share his pets with others and can often be found hanging out in Coronet interacting with his pets. People will come up and watch, curious at the site before them. Others will come up and ask if I can tame/train their pet. Still others have questions. My mood is always happy (/mood happy, you should try it sometime). A smiling wookiee makes a great impression on people. I am always happy to help others and willing to answer questions. My goal is to rub off on everyone in a positive way. Show them that there's another side to CH than just having pets for killing.

And ya know what? It works. People respond positively to this and they keep coming back to me fortheir pet needs. I make friends right and left, because I'm open, forthright, helpful and friendly. And I'm actually roleplaying the CH, not just running around with pets trailing behind me and a weapon in my hand. How many CH's do you know that run around town on mounts all the time, or just take the time to roleplay with their pets in a public setting?

SWG *is* a roleplaying game. There's more to this game than killing stuff with CH. I am a peaceful CH and I roleplay it as such. I won't send my pets needlessly into battle without good reason. My pets are my family and my companions. This whole other aspect, the roleplaying aspect, of CH is what most servers lack. On Intrepid, I became pretty darn popular as a CH because I was willing to take the time to help and interact with people. I made so many friends. It's happening again on Gorath. I've only been a CH for a few days and already people are coming around.

This is what CH is all about to me. Roleplaying a creature handler that IS a creature handler. So, the CU has no bearing on my own CH experience. I'm staying.

while I agree it is a rpg, for the most part, the new combat system will greatly impact that experience. I like to out and run around for a few hours here and there lookin for babies (get in my belly!) but this new combat system will make that a much more difficult thing to do. Will it still be possible? maybe. How long will it be before the bugs are worked out? Why rush the new combat system?

This rpg that is set in the Star Wars universe should have a certain Star Wars feel to it. It should, right? Yet, I see more people walking around with power hammers, and vibro knucklers than with carbines and pistols. Nothing is as nice of a RPG experience as when I am at the Mining outpost on Dant and see people walking around in their underware with a sword in their hands. I also like it when I walk through the Imp outpost on Dant and see a single person wiping out the entire garrison without breaking a sweat.

Now, the CU might change some it, like the wiping out of the Imp garrison. But, will it stop the people from walking around in their skivvies? I did not take CH for the almighty power it grants me. No, no, no, I chose it because it seemed like a fun profession. Each time I log in, though, it seems like a little piece of the fun dies away with the lack of content.

-GCW, is it still going on? really? what are the incentives for participating? seriously. I would love to see stormies do crackdowns in cities/cantinas. Did Obi-wan break out his lightsaber and cut a path thru the stormies in Star Wars? No, he used guile to get by them. I get NO feel of a conflict between the Rebelian and the Empire.

-Professions. Smugglers who do not smuggle anything to Droid Engineers (who should be the embodyment of the Star Wars feel) who really don't have much of a market. I have only seen a combat droid on a few limited times. Harvester droids, are not worth it in group play, they give a penalty if used. Artificial limbs in ROTW's are given out by NPC's.

-why can't people place vendors IN cities? instead, if a person wants to go to a vendor, they have to go to the vendor ring AROUND the city.

-we all know BE's can make better pets than what we can find, why are we so limited in what we can find/store then? Why?

It is a combination of these things and a few others that just ruins it for me. There is so much potential out there and they are not touching it.

I mastered CH the day the Mount Patch went to TC. I have never looked back without breaking into a smile. THere is no future for me in this game that does not include my pets. A friend of mine recently wrote that to see Journey with Dante ( My first Gurreck), Is to know that help is on the way. We all have a percieved place on our servers among our friends. I think they would be very disappointed if any of us stopped being the reliable Players that we are.

ArchiieBarrett, I agree wholeheartedly.

As for BE pets and losing them, I know exactly how that's going to feel, because I had some of the best BE pets on Intrepid. Among which were my two Narglatches, Luscious and Delicious. Those two cats packed a wallop. The main reason I quit CH on Intrepid a year or so ago was because I wasn't getting anywhere in PVP and I was so frustrated that my pets just didn't have the gumption to do any good. Yes, I had wins with my pets... but the power gamers had every exploit and double-sliced weapon on their side. It all seemed a moot point and I lost interest in the game after I had dropped CH and tried PVPing with a different template. So I left for a year.

I came back a few weeks ago and decided I wanted to play CH again, so I started on a new server. I checked my old server first (Intrepid) and it looked empty compared to what it used to be. The bad memories from that server and the PVP ganking morons I dealt with just made me feel like starting with a clean slate. I picked Gorath because a friend of mine that still played had moved there. I worked my way up to TKM first and used that as my vehicle to get MCH.

After all the crap I've been through with Intrepid, I have a different outlook on the game. I think the CU has come too little too late for me, so combat is going to be something I want nothing to do with. Another factor is I just don't want to have to group to game in an MMORPG. That's what the devs want us to do, so I'm going non-combat. I get so much enjoyment out of my pets and interactions with them and people that I doubt I'll ever go back to being some sort of combat class. Plus it lets me focus on roleplaying. And my respec to BE after this CU hits is going to just be an awesome thing and open up new doors for pets for me. Some CH's are against BE pets because they're not natural. I used to feel that way, but I ended up with mostly BE's back on Intrepid anyway. My Narglatches, my Kimo (which had mostly 100%'s across the board), my Vir Vur which almost rivaled my Kimo... the list goes on. All I wanna do is have fun. Lost pets? I don't think much of those anymore. I just look back on the fond memories and know how lucky I was to have such powerful pets. Besides, I have pics of my pets and their stats as permanent record of the days gone by, and that's good enough for me.

I'm here to enjoy new things. The new mounts will be nice. Experimenting with BE will be great and I'll be able to sell pets and train them for my customers free of charge. Lots of roleplaying goodness awaits, despite CU bugs. And that's what I'm here for.
