Does appear to be DD only. FWIW on cable yes it probably is as quick, if not quicker ( depending on how far from the shop you are ), than buying the pack. But in this context the quicker was reference to the fact DD was released 2 weeks BEFORE the TE.

Yep, I am saying it is quicker to download it, if you are on cable. To get to a shop that stocks it, and back, would take me several hours, as experience of JTL says that it will only be in stock at one place in town and that I would probably try the others first. Downloading took me under an hour.

my question to the Op is this, did you respec to MCH?

if so, you wont getthe MCH badge till the respec ends, so you probably wont be recognised as MCH till then, which would be why you cant start the quest

I find it hard to belive it would be based on the badge itself. That would meen someone who hard MCH sometime before CU and has now dropped it could go do the quest. And frankly, SOE have a system in to check for what boxes you have currently trained, if they're not using that system here, then I'm not sure what to call them.

If it's truely only for those with the DD version, then I'm wondering if there's any quest only for those with TE.

Im unsure, and I thought it was an odd thing too, however, I'm 90% sure the MCH quest is just that, nothing to do with what type of expansion you bought.

The respec issue seems the only other sensible explanation.

I have seen some wierd stuff on TC due to respec and certs, so it wouldnt be totally unexpected, although as you say, it would mean they are following a completely different check to the one they are using for weapon certs etc.

My only other thought would be to prevent respecs doing it until the respec is over to stop people respeccing to MCH doing the quest and selling the mount on , perhaps to non rotw enables MCH's?

Seems odd, but they dowork in odd ways, as we have seen for 2 years.

It was established during Beta that the MCH Varactyl quest was for people who purchased the Digital Download only.

That's because the non-CH Varactyl is the perk for buying the digital download, so I assume they didn't consider it fair that someone who is a MCH could essentially get the best of both worlds by purchasing the Total Experience to get the BARC then turning around and getting the Varactyl from the quest.

Yes, I was just going to link to this thread where SpaceRancor states that it's for DD only.

I think that logic is flawed though... how many Master CH's are there?
It's foolish to compare a special perk speeder to a Mastered-Profession-Speciffic Quest Reward.

I would certainly like to see them change this, but then you'd get a bunch of angry people that bought the DD instead of the BARC-giving Box version.

These limitations are just annoying and ill-conceived.

How about plain-old in-game content?
Not this "Which Method did you use to purchase the Expansion" Crap!
(Just my opinions)

One other thing... I find it funny how on one hand SOE clearly denounces the Forum-Based Community (Saying things like we don't represent the player-base and casting negative generalizations upon Forum Posters), yet they have all these quirky changes and speciffic information that is attainable no where else. How would these "More-Important" Customers (The Players that do not read everything on the Forums) know one damn thing about this Varactyl, that Varactyl, which version to buy in order to get what... even many Forum regulars can't keep up with this stuff.

I don't know much about it, but there is apparently some tool that a Master Artisan can make... a BARC Repair Kit or something.
Supposedly it will repair a disabled BARC Speeder.

I actually saw someone post that they were able to repair the disabled BARC through a radial option even though they didn't have one of those tool kits.

Other than that, it sounds like you've got it about right.
