Thread: Pets running... Help with some testing... based on TH response.
I would be glad to do a "video" of what happens. Not too hard to set up a way to record what you see in the game. Fambaas are an excellent example that I (used to) regularly fight. They always run when they get low health, and it's very obvious. It's also very obvious that what happens before that isn't running, it's pushing.
Hmm,
I have a BE Razor Cat and a BE Guercat, they do not run.
My guess a this time is that the Pets are not running but actually 'chasing' the running creature. I have also used a baby Graul Mauler is also does not seem to run.
the other thing I have noticed is when I use 2 pets they always seem to flank the creature thus not allowing it to run?
just my guess
I honestly thing that TH doesn't know what he's talking about. Since Graul Maulers have ran as long as I can remember and they are ferocity 10 I believe. It must be an attack range issue, because ferocity has never played a factor, because regardless of any of my pets ferocity, most of them would run before Publish 6. Now all of them run...

This was a response he gave to the pets on top of you and running problem.
Ok, how can we tell which pets are cowards? I went to www.swgcreatures.com and did some research on the ferocity states of pets I have. Since all of my pets that I use alot run awaynow, I need some help testing. Pets that I have tested, and run away, which also have a ferocity of 0 based on swgcreatures:
Webmaster
Schreecher
Mereks (Queen. King, Toxic)
Boar wolf
All of my BE pets
So, does that mean all pets with ferocity of 0 run now? A pet whichI will test when I get home from work, that has a ferocity of 2 is Archane Warrior. Others I would like people to test, which i do not own are: Rancor (ferocity 10), and any other pets that have a ferocity higher than 0.
Is the coward level determine on a ferocity of 0? That is what I am trying to figure out. If so, and this was planed by the Devs, than this will totally mess up how we currently use pets.

Thunderheart's repeated cluelessness about the mechanics of Creature Handling indicate that no matter what we report, he'll distort our findings when reporting to the developers, because he simply does not comprehend what he's being told.
The middleman needs to be cut out of this process. TH is clueless. The devs need to go straight to Vert and talk to him.

I agree with you.
I'm giving up trying to get help from the devs. When TH last asked to give all the information, what pets, cl, bio eng, ect...I gave all the information. I guess he missed my post. either way, his comments about pets being cowardly while funny, just shows how little he thinks of our problems. Why do I get the feeling this problem will be here for at least a month or two.
I bet it will be around longer than that.
Even if this "cowardly" pets BS werre true, would it make any sense?
"Yay, I am a CH that can train a pet to do the exact opposite of what I tell it to do. Yay, even though I commanded my pets to guard me, he still stands around like a bump on a log while I am DBed by a creature or NPC."
Though TH probably doesn't give a crap, i've about completely had it with him and his answers. It's always side stepping and double talk that ultimately answers nothing...

Actually. I honestly think that Thunderheart doesn't care for the Creature Handler profession. Am I wrong?
His "poke" comments. It is impossible that this is merely an unintentional stab at Creature Handlers. He read the SWG discussion forum during the great Creature Handler hate. I KNOW he saw how many times CH's were refered to as pokem0n. Hell, even the word pokem0n is/was automatically edited from posts. So those "poke" comments of his just shows an underlying dislike for the Creature Handler profession.
His constant ineptitude of Creature Handler issues in general. The 30 second timer. His recent post about cowardly pets. Need I say more?...
Apparently, the devs and TH thinks this is working as intended. Since according to them, they couldn't even reproduce the running bug...

I would agree that most pets are now idiots as a result of the Publish 6 lobotomy the devs delivered ... but it's just a code fubar, it's not rocket science, if they just put some resource on fixing it, it should be easily fixed. Since it wasn't this broken before Publish 6, they must be able to track the bad code that caused the problem.
Or at least you'd think so, in any competent development organization.
If they could quit making auto-store worse that would be nice, too.
I have to agree with ShkariPsy and AbakCH on the fact that it seems to be nothing to do with the ferocity, but instead the combat range of the pets. We have all noticed that pets seems to really like us currently, and are basically totally invading out personal space
This would make since for a reason the pets are fubar when trying to attack something also, because they arenever on the correct attack coordinates which makes them push or run after something.
Also, as Tarnblade showed us, if the hardest CL65 wild tamable pet is a "coward" than something is seriously wrong. The ferocity on a Bull rancor is 11, and it should not run from anything.
