Thread: Pets running... Help with some testing... based on TH response.
Message Edited by Dakhanz on 02-17-2004 02:41 PM
The pet(s) that I have been using are Greater Sludge Panthers (Ferocity 7). I cannot really tell if they are running or the target is running and they are chasing. All I can say is that I have to head off into the sunset to catch up. If it is the target running, I would argue to say that these encounters have all been at lairs and I doubt that any creature would run from a lair that it was defending when most of it's HAM is still intact.

That was odd... I'll finish my last sentence now. ![]()
I'm pretty sure I would have to watch my rancor run from a kreetle if I didn't spam /tellpet attack at it (which seems to keep it stuck, either through forcing it to stand still even though it's not at a "comfortable" range, or as I suspect it simply lags the pet into standing in one spot... we've all seen the pause pets will do after being told a command, I'm forcing it to pause non-stop I think).

Actually. I honestly think that Thunderheart doesn't care for the Creature Handler profession. Am I wrong?
His "poke" comments. It is impossible that this is merely an unintentional stab at Creature Handlers. He read the SWG discussion forum during the great Creature Handler hate. I KNOW he saw how many times CH's were refered to as pokem0n. Hell, even the word pokem0n is/was automatically edited from posts. So those "poke" comments of his just shows an underlying dislike for the Creature Handler profession.
His constant ineptitude of Creature Handler issues in general. The 30 second timer. His recent post about cowardly pets. Need I say more?...
Aakh, I can't dispute your first paragraph. I feel that way, too, but for the sake of discussion, I'm wiling to go with ignorance instead of malice as a likely explanation.
Still, with the 'poke' references, one can't help but wonder what the deal REALLY is.
It's almost as if the devs wanted CH to become more and more a PITA to play, so that people will drop the profession and move on to some thing more starwarsy, like flamethrower wielding commandos, karate kids, or one of the bigass stickwielding profs.
This whole " some pets are cowards " thing.
Sound like a right old load of BS to me.
Its a pathetic excuse to explain why pets are buggd.
Andeither keep chasing mobs all over the countryside, or decide to run away them selfs.
If they dont expand on the coward rubbish and explain how it works, then they are simply sticking their collective heads up their own arses in an atempt to ignore a well known and complaind about bug.
If its tied into Ferocity btw then BE in general are going to go out of business unless they can tell the buyer exactly what ferocity they are buying. As it currently doesnt tell them on the deed.
Ive noticed that my pet these days spend a lot of time chasing mobs too all and sundery
as i have said in other posts like this one its to do with combat ranges

My rancor runs as bad or worse than any other pet I have other than this one bantha that I am on the verge of simply deleting it has become so uncontrollable. Ferocity isn't the answer. For that matter, it's not that my pets are "running", but instead that they are "pushing" or being "pushed" because my pet and its target are trying to occupy the same physical spot (just like I get to look through the mouth/eyes/nose/stomach of all of my pets when they aren't fighting).
I'm pretty sure I
Heres some test results for you.
Test of runaway pet syndrome
For this test I went to Dathomire and was in a group doing Raging rancor mishs.
The pets weretried out 1 at a time groupd and ungroupd.
In both cases the pets ran like mad all over the landscape in an atempt to avoid fighting the Rancors i sent them in against.
Even with repeated spamming of the attack button the pets seemd to be in,,, OMG ITS A RANCOR,,, RRRUUUUUNNNN mode.
(This issomthing that has been complaind about forever and never fixd by the morons otherwise known as the devs and it certainly isnt exclusive to just rancors)
The links show both the pets that I used for this test.
By the way, both pets are fully grown and at full stats.
