Thread: droid storage
Why did they fix it, If they are going to take it out?
Quote: Fixed an issue that caused pets to be lost when transferred to a droid.

I personally think they should limit the number you can store in a droid (maybe make them take more space in a droid datapad) but do not think they should take this out.
You can not call a pet from a droid. So if they are not in your datapad you can not call them. The droid is simply storage. These are not craftable items. Many are hard to find and get. We should have a place to store them.
Devs please don't take this away.
This has been an ongoing debate. They fixed droid storage a while ago because originally, you were meant to store items or data in a droid with the appropriate mod, but it was saving neither kind of information. Then it was noticed that you could store pets in a droid. Whether this was intended or not, everyone I've talked to loves being able to hold extra pets for emergencies, "back stock" to sell, or they just love more than their limit is supposed to allow.
I know the devs have fixed pet storage in droids, and it's being implimented I believe as we speek. Most don't want this to happen, some are all for it. I personally would like to be able to continue storing pets in droids. I can get creatures through my CH or BE skills, and would like to be able to use and sell both kinds and by limiting the pets to 14 at master CH, which I'll probably never get to, is not going to give me muchroom to work with. I'm also a droid engineer, and taking pets away from droids limits further my already limited possibilities to make money with my droids.
I hope, with the new fix (most would call it nerfing though), the devs are compensating for the sudden lack of pet storage.
At first, I was against this plan (removing pet storage in droids). After thinking about it for a week, I'm actually all for it, if we get this in return:
I can understand why they don't want you to store pets in droids. Realistically, at master CH, you would then be storing 124 pets that you always have with you. Yes, 110 are in the droid, but just as you need to be in a city/camp to take out a pet, it works the same for a droid. So although you can't call a pet from a droid's datapad, it's really not that much trouble to transfer the pet to your datapad.
What we should get in return are working data terminals in our homes. These items currently do not function. If they did, then we could store our pets at our houses. This eliminates the "cheat" (if you want to call it that) of having 114 pets with you at all times. Now you can only take your 14 with you when you explorer, hunt, etc., yet still have your "back-ups", or pets you want to sell, at home.
I don't know about you guys, but I think it's a better solution to the problem. If you agree, let's discuss this with the Devs so we could perhaps get it implemented.
"it's really not that much trouble to transfer the pet to your datapad."
Yes it is, you can only do it in a city, public buildingor camp.
I think they should make pets take up more space in a droid datapad.
This would allow the droid to hold less.
If this has gone into effect, which I think it has, I just lost 13 pets, and some of my
most favorite ones. Yes you might say you were warned, but they gave conflicting
stories. ahhhhh I don't even care anymore nerf what you will, DEVS.
You are getting closer to losing another $15 a month every time you send a patch.
So a few more of these and I will NERF your pay by $15 bucks a month ![]()
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Look I don't really want to argue this point over and over, because I don't think it needs to be. But listen to what you're saying:
My quote - "it's really not that much trouble to transfer the pet to your datapad."
Your quote - "Yes it is, you can only do it in a city, public buildingor camp."
This is exactly my point. You can only take out pets in a city, public building, or camp. So wherever you can take that droid out, you can take a pet out. So, it is not much trouble to transfer that pet from your droid's datapad to your datapad since you have to be in a camp/building/city to call it anyway! It's really just one additional step in order to call a pet, that's it! Believe me I know, I've used the process several times over.
So in essence you're really storing 124 pets on you at all times, with just one more small step to transfer any of the 110 that are in your droid's datapad (since you have to be in a camp/building/city anyway to call out that new pet anyway, as well as the droid).
No problem! Although I would love for us to have the ability to store 110 pets in a droid, I can see where SOE has a problem with this. Especially since they want to cap our storage at 14. But really though, that's just the amount of pets we have on us at all times, I don't think that should apply to storing a pet in a house, or a house's data module (whenever those get to working).
Perhaps I'll start a new thread about this.
It is obvious not an intended benefit just by looking at the skill trees for CH, same as the transfer bug for people w/o Grouping IV.
You would not get skill ups to hold more pets as you progress if they wanted to allow us to hold 100+ pets in a droid.
Same with the grouping IV, they would not give the ability to gain a transfer command if they wanted everyone to simply trade pets over the secure trade method.
The fundamental problem is that CH is the only profession in the entire game which is limited, based upon skill, independantly of datapad, house, or droid storage limits. A side effect is that this limit hampers fun for a variety of people.
